    This performance with its faster tempi sounds perfunctory compared to Dorati's, which I'd previously heard today. Maybe Dorati's would sound stodgy if I'd heard Marriner's first, however. I'm sure that both approaches to the score are valid, but as of now I prefer Dorati's. It's a very enjoyable work in either performance, needless to say!

      True, it's "horses for courses", as we say. Let's rejoice that both exist🙂
