Lockdown newbie at 61yrs old 😀 Been playing for 2.5 yrs now and have over-indulged buying guitars, ten thus far. I’m just as enthusiastic for all things guitar today as I was at the beginning, I just love practicing and trying new songs and playing styles, thanks Marty. My favourite is strumming but I’m now trying to develop my soloing. I’ve also stripped down and rebuilt a Strat and Tele. I subscribe to 20 guitar YT channels and watch all postings daily, I also practice guitar for around 3 hours per day. I’ve been to see Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Bonamassa, Clive Carroll and Michael Lemmo in concerts this past year. I just can’t get enough guitar in to my life; love it.

Hello. I picked up the electric guitar when I went on my 50ft birthday. Now I’m 53 and I trying to play every day and I own several electric,s and some acoustic to. Several amps have landed in home to and I just looove it. Marty is my favorite RUclipsr teacher.

Started 3 months ago at 34, this channel a massive source of learning. My chord changes are slow, I can't do an f chord with the bar to save my life but it's definitely one of the best things I've done. The satisfaction of even slowly getting a tune out is great. Latest work for me is Martys Hotel California acoustic lesson - 3 months ago I would have laughed at you, I didnt even know any chords. Now trying to learn an awesome song and its fulfilling as hell. Don't talk yourself out of it, go for it!

Guitar is something I have had an intermittent relationship with for a long time. However, when I ended up in rehab for alcoholism, I knew I had to re-invent myself. The more time passed without alcohol, I realized that my 2nd instrument is actually the one I love the most. I have a degree in Jazz saxophone performance, and it will always be a part of me. But I just can't be in a bar anymore, where most of my gigs were (festivals always have booze, too - I played a lot of those). As I have come to know myself with a clearer head, I am applying my musical knowledge to my guitars. It is such a source of pure joy!! I work in a music store, and I recommend your channel to anyone getting into guitar. I've learned so much from you. My life is so much better in every way, and I've never loved music more than I do over the last few years. It's NEVER too late!! And my knowledge of effect pedals has increased exponentially, bringing me even more Music Therapy. There is nothing like distortion to help me constructively turn anger into encouragement. Love your channel!! Along with the great playing and dog cameo.

Started taking in person lessons last December, at age 54. It's been a challenge but I'm sticking with it. Investing $400 in a Martin 000X1AE had me debating if it made sense as a beginner, but the playability has made a big difference for me.

Just turned 45 started to finally learn how to play the guitar after years of always wanting to.
Gotta say I'm loving it, I'm in a position where I can dedicate the time learning,it's been frustrating and rewarding in equal measure at the moment.
Some days I feel like im cracking it,other days I feel like introducing the guitar to the nearest wall.
That said I'm finally doing what I wish I did when was younger.
I wanna give Marty a shout out here coz he's helped me loads.

My whole life I thought that you had to be special or you had to have some kind of gift to play the guitar at 42 years old. I picked up the guitar during the pandemic and I haven't looked back since people like Justin guitar. Marty, music carry too smooth. Have really helped me to love the guitar even though I suck and I still sound like trash My wife left me my dog committed suicide. My cat ended up being a serial killer and all my children turn their back on me. That's how horrible I sound on the guitar but at least it brings me peace. You never too old to learn ✊🏿✊🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

I've played bass in bands since I was 15, so 30+ years at this point. I've owned 6-string guitars but was always too intimidated by the amazing players I jammed with. The day Eddie Van Halen died, which was also at the height of COVID lockdown, I decided enough was enough and ordered a pack of strings from Amazon for same-day delivery, found a bunch of tutorial videos (this channel was the first, actually, but Robert Baker has also been a great resource) and started my guitar journey. A couple of years later I... still suck, but I can play some songs and I'm learning more all the time! It's giving me something to work toward but still be happy with where I am now.
