- Austrian Airlines phased-out its 18 DHC-8 402 turboprop aircraft with 76 seats. To balance this out, flight offerings from Vienna will be expanded by more than ten percent, given that jets belonging to the Airbus A320 family are considerably larger than the turboprops.
This decision marks the end of the turboprop fleet after 36 years of operations at Austrian Airlines. The DHC-8 102 entered the Tyrolean Airways (predecessor of Austrian Airlines) fleet back in 1985. Since the airlines consistly operated all types of the aircraft family, such as DHC-8 311/314. As of by now the only remaining turboprop where the DHC-8 402. Which now have left the fleet.
