@@Marcdrichter I found out what it is. It's a spinning trimmer. It's used to hold pottery in place while trimming, rather than using lumps or clay or a trimming wheel to stabilize the piece. It disperses weight too, so all the pressure isn't put in one spot. Apparently you can try using a bottle cap first before buying one of these.

Would you share the glaze combo for the mug that came out of the kiln just after the recreated cover mug? It looks so much like the beach here in Santa Cruz (well, more like the beach a few days ago...today it's grey and rainy) and I'd love to make something in that combo for my brother!
