Is your MLA responsible for the dug-up road outside your house? What is the job of an MLA? Why does Bengaluru - a city famous for its activism - record low voting percentage? Manisha Pande discusses these themes with Srinivas Alavill, an activist and co-founder of Citizens for Bangalore. The two also discuss some of the pressing issues facing the city, the state of its lakes, and how money power is central to electoral politics.

Hey Manisha, make a video on the lack of playgrounds in Bengaluru?
Most of the kids in Bengaluru have to forcefully play on Roads or not play physical sports all together & focus on video games.
Thanks to NL interviewing the right voter of Bangalore, he rightly said about the other voters to get educated about the purpose of elections and difference between MLAs, MPS and municipality etc...
well said. Thats how we Bangalorean feel all the time.
Exceptional on-ground work. Well done. What a great example of effective activism.
Another Great Interview! Thanks NL Team, and Thanks to Mr. Srinivas, We need dedicated and clued-in citizens like him if we're to have any hope for the future. Hopefully people voted with their critical minds, and not with BS propaganda! fingers crossed.
Learned Gentleman !
You'll never find people like him so visionary & work oriented in politics.
The interview was for us, the people, their needs and how to do our bit by approaching the MLA, the Corporator, with a clear understanding of what we want.
It was not about Congress aayegi, or BJP aayegi. People talk more about politicians than about what should be done.
It is not easy to approach the politicians, but we have to do our bit, and not be afraid of failure.
If there is Might there is always Right.
Thanks for a realistic picture.
What a brilliant interview. It is such a scary decision to give up your job and participate in civil life as an activist. All the power to Srinivas.
Thank you
The real literacy rate of Karnataka will be known to world on 13 may.
Excellent interview. Very well spoken and informed interviwee. Great issues raised and lots of insights into the matter at hand. Kudos to the NL team. Great work!!
What a wonderful person, Srinivaas. You are great
Thank you
I like this guy. He is so calm while explaining such serious issues in our political literacy.
We need more aware citizens like Srinivas Alavill

As a new investor, it's important to remember that investing and trading require more than just technical analysis skills. Discipline and emotional maturity play a significant role in achieving success. It's wise to keep in mind the adage of "time in the market vs. timing the market," as this mentality can help you weather market volatility. With insights of Grayson Miles and my commitment to learning and growth, I've been increasing my earnings in just a few months. Keep up the good work!..

Yeah that's right I think the best way is to invest with a professional, at least it saves the trauma of too much losses, This just surprised me because I also invest with Grayson

A voter during state election needs to consider 3 fundamental criteria while evaluating whom to vote for, they are State expenditure or Budget, Policy making and Governance.
11:56 what is the math here? Kinda wierd ? 1.6 million people live in Bangalore ok and then when asked what was the city originally built for, they say 40 - 50 lakhs, so isnt that well within what it was built for?
I think he meant to say 10 million. And it is actually 10mil+
I think he meant to say 1.x Crores
Ok so I’m not going crazy, thanks guys
@@greinum I just saw that too. Big brain moments.
@@adityaharikrishnan6793 i kept rewatching over and over, and even looked up if million and 10lakhs is the same…
I just voted and before I voted I checked the candidate list and my hope just plummeted... it is not who is the best candidate it is who is the least worst... when people who have not passed beyond 10 are winning... I can't say... just depressed...
You should vote for party and not candidate.
@@khaderalikhan3029 no that is not the way you vote... You should vote for the candidate...
One of the best interviews .. learned more in this interview than any other bullshit politician
Its time to make this signature slogan popular- Ab ki Baar Rahul Bhaiyya ki Sarkar! ❤
Most MLAs are busy making money and protecting their assets...
It's become very hard for the state to come out of this bad governance...
Maam there is only a single criteria his qualifications and also his chararcter
Big time issue, how are they getting permission to construct on Lake bed. Bangalore and it's surroundings is being eaten away by real estate firms. Not acceptable sir.
What if the lake has dried up for 20 years .......the problem is drainage system and town planning , yes we need to protect them but its too late
Not too late
Boy! the person was sea of knowledge on ground..
Thank you
any sort of meetup in bengaluru if possible?
itll be interesting to see karnataka vote for development or becomes another cow state
Where will the PM do roadshow? Surely not where the road is bad or got inundated in the last rain.
Well the pm can do road shows on the 6,215,797 kilometres of newly built roads I'm sure the people will love it.
@@nikal.. What you quoted is the total length of all roads in India - both old and new as of 1 December 2021, not newly built roads in India. Looking at too many WhatsApp forwards or watching Godi media?
In any case most newly bult roads are State, district and rural roads built by State Governments and municipalities. National Highways are built by the Centre. These newly built roads become old after 2 years and after 2/3 showers in case of Bangalore under 40% comission Government.

Are we not electing a MLA to look in yo our problems ?????. Sure he/ she not the reason for a dug up outside our homes. But taking it to the MLA's notice is just to accelerate the problem solving , understood that the MLA is obliged by votes for solving problems in his constituency , which is naturally the vow before elections.
The guy is an idiot. No wonder NL went to them. The analogy of cardiologist is so stupid.
Unfortunately, in the last three decades or so the politics in Karnataka has been hijacked by moneybags. The elected MLAs are worse than "lampposts" - they are more like cattle heads for sale at a mandi who will switch allegiance for the right kind of money. As a result a lot of MLAs, sees being in politics as a business venture; they make their investments to get elected and then their main goal is a quick ROI - to get rich quick, preferably before the next round of elections. Very few MLAs know what they are supposed to do (or what is in their power to do); they merely make up the numbers in a political party - they act like ballast. Consequently, one suspects the quality of the MLAs have deteriorated over the years - from public service practitioners they have degenerated into mere agents of the power that be. They think it is their role is to dole out favours to electorate - by throwing crumbs at them (basically, members of his/her tribe). If MLAs truly worked as 'legislators' for the benefit of public, we would be in a much better state.

Why were you so obsessed with the helicopters manisha?
disagree...nothing will change with change in government ... .... yeh chaar takke ke mantri aur inke chaar taakke ke babu kabhi nahi badlenge ... the governance system needs a "french revolution treatment - heads on the pikes and a brand new system" ....
Raja wala feel Lena galat ha for democracy
RSS/BJP chose the smaller streets so that they would not look so empty when the large crowds they imagined would not show up. I still think the RSS/BJP has a strong change of winning because the majority community is just that radicalized and deranged to vote for hate over development and progress.
Ram leela ka fashion shayad karnataka mai nahi hai like hindi belt.. So why bjp conduct the ram leela in election..?? 😢😢
