  • It's time for a BOAT TOUR!!! Welcome aboard our 1992 PRIVILEGE 482 CATAMARAN!
We're a family of 4 living full time on the water, and we'd love to show you around our floating home!
There are PROs and CONs of living on a 30 YEAR OLD catamaran, but we love her vintage charm! She's 48ft long with 5 cabins, 4 heads, and almost 27ft of beam (which makes for a pretty stable platform in rolly seas)! Scout is a proven BLUE WATER cruising cat, having already sailed around the world. We have updated some of her systems to include (among other things) 1600 Watts of SOLAR (we have plans to add even more) and 1000 Amp Hours of LITHIUM to make LIVING OFF THE GRID even more sustainable as we attempt to take her on her 2nd CIRCUMNAVIGATION....
LEAVE US A COMMENT - We'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, questions, concerns, etc....!
Thanks for watching! We hope you'll join us next week as we dive back into the Exumas and explore "Chicken Harbor". Oh, and keep an eye out for a BONUS Episode all about POWER!
Subscride so you don't miss a minute....
    Cheers,
    The SCOUT crew
    Nate, Megan, Kieran (11) & Eily (9)
    Music is from Epidemic Sound.
We shot most of the footage with our Sony Handycam Camcorder FDR-AX53

Ahoy. I tip. Remove the paper from your cans and use a sharpie to write what’s in them. The paper will eventually rub off and you will play “what’s for lunch “.

I read a sailing book where exactly that happened to them! They played ‘mystery meal’ for a long time. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! All boats are trade offs, and yes we have all the space we need.

Love everything about the boat … except for the helm. I’d have had to have one in the cockpit covered.

It’s my #1 dislike as well. Probably not as big a deal for crossing oceans, but for short hops, it’s a real drawback.

Kieran and Elly keep things organized!! :) 92 and she looks like she has a lot more to go with that Kabuto motor..
A lithium right angle drill with a winch bit would work at all the winches when needed, and you'll have a right angle drill for other task as well. Nice boat, kids that care and an organizing woman.. The finer things in life!! Good stuff!! Kieran, that is a new to me. Cool name.

Thank you! Nice family boat! Could easily accommodate 1 more kid!
Watched your latest vid first. Dive compressor, electric or gas? Dingy size and motor? Sails? Guess I watch more vids...

Electric - 220V. 11 foot with a 15Hp two stroke. We have a 110% ish Genoa to go with our main, and then a few nylon sails which we did an episode on.

Enjoyed your channel! Just Subscribed.I’m trying to convince my wife that a circumnavigation is a great retirement project and went so far as to even start a little channel (@NavalGazingatCampDavid) to sell her on the life style….desperate times and all that. Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!

Yes, they certainly don’t put themselves together, but we enjoy doing it. Thanks for watching!

You’ve probably discovered this by now, but I’ve just found your channel and am working my way through, but I’d suggest getting a battery powered winch handle if you don’t want an electric winch.

We’ve looked at those multiple times and have yet to pull the trigger. Still may be in our future. Have you had good experiences with them?

@@sailing_scout I’ve only used electric or manual winches, but I’ve watched a channel that’s used one for a long time, I think it was Onboard Lifestyle.

Do you advertise your RUclips channel somewhere publically visible on the outside on boat?

Thinking of ways to help you gain subscribers!

We don’t. We do have our logo there. Right now we’re mostly concerned with learning the ropes and consistency putting out content. We may focus on marketing a bit more in the future.
