I gotta be honest. If I had listened to this Pod some 3 years ago, I would not have understood it’s subject matter and I would have dismissed it as absolutely *censored*. However, ever since I have had my own Dark Night of the Soul and I am now healing from 43yrs old childhood- and intergenerational trauma, I get this subject matter: I realize that apart from having an individual shadow we also have a collective shadow. We help healing the latter by healing individually and in the process, we assist others doing likewise.
I wonder how much of our collective struggle here is a lack of A) incentive and/or B) capacity - vis a vis atrophy, to have a difficult conversation? To get close and be assured that we belong we need to know its safe to move through some discomfort together, which has been mostly stripped from our lives along with all the value and data and connection discomfort can provide. So now that this invitation to descend into the depths is on the horizon, our terror and reactivity are taking the wheel so to speak. Would love to see a follow up or even a panel-type discussion on this. Thanks for bringing this kind of content to the podcast!
Had to edit this comment after listening to this again. First it seemed to reasonate. Second time around I am divided. The concepts are great, but it feels like they are deliberately placed in a place that should convince me of everything we are doing wrong right now. Do I need more of this sentement?
This is deeply confused. He's right that the way out is through. But his contention that we just haven't experienced enough dissolution yet and have to do it harder (the patriarchy/systemic racism/blah blah) is just affirming the insanity that has brought us to the dark night.
That's right! The way I see it, all the feminists are just unconscious servants of what they term "patriarchy". Really sad and ironic state to be in, especially, if on top of that they think they are somehow enlightened and see through the illusion.
More "patriarchy/white male bad" garbage. I am trying to hear what he is saying, but all I hear is a soft-spoken, far leftist telling me that my sex, gender, and ethnic heritage are things to be ashamed of. I am sick of this crap.
I was surprised to hear this part as well tbh. Meant to push back on it, but lost the thread. I have some other men coming on the show soon who will be digging into the King, Warrior, Magician, Lover archetypes and will have a different view.
@artynegelen786 I have consumed a lot of peripheral material to have a good general understanding of that book, but I definitely want to read it in order to get a real understanding. Does Campbell's work dovetail well with it?

Thank you, very informative!
Amazing Podcast! Thanks Connor!

Buy and read 'King, Warrior, Magician, Lover' by Douglas Gillette and Robert Moore and you may understand better what's discussed here.
Yeah sounds too woke to me

@@ManTalksoh, wow. This is an amazing book, looking forward to that. Thank you so much 👌

Worthless
