Again, in another video the conductor was pointing! Is that a way to keep the conductor alert as to what they are doing? Or is there another purpose of the pointing? Thanks for any information 😃
Yes, physically pointing at a thing is supposed to raise attention. Japanese train drivers point at signals, speed restrictions etc. and crossreference it with their indicators. Other staff such as conductors and platform attendants do this as well for safety-related tasks.

最近はJR西日本、阪急電車、阪神電鉄もほとんどが女性運転手が多いです。
京阪も女性運転士増えてきてます。
基本動作的には７０点位かな 通過駅の確認はまずまず 停車駅の確認はもう少しかな(笑)
