I like the way you did the deck supports. Sticking wood in the ground versus on the ground will make work years down the road and as a bonus you can adjust you deck blocks to keep things level. Nice privy hole, reminds me I have to dig a new one next summer after about 15 years on the present one. I’m getting younger help for that .
Having your own mill to cut your wood is the best thing for sure, I m new here looks like I will be watching as I love these type of shows 80 Year old F , still farming
Yes it is we just got back from the cabin, we spent the weekend milling lumber for the new sauna/outhouse build the video should be up in a couple weeks
I'm a new follower and I truly love everything that you have and may God continue blessing you and your family . BTW you're raising some good boy's there . This channel GETS two thumbs up from me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃 aww hell i changed my mind and gave you a straight up 10 😆
From experience I suggest cutting back allot of those trees from the house. Trees really attract humidity and not to forget often they have limbs or even the whole tree that comes down.
Where in AK is this? When I was stationed at Eielson, 92-96, I don't remember seeing stumps for trees that big and I am surprised that your boys dug that deep without hitting gravel and water. Beautiful piece of land you have.
Your outhouse have you ever considered a more elevated platform and doing a composting set up like those kids did on living alaska but just nicer? You need a drawbridge dock that folds up when the ice comes. Because that was super sketchy lol..
I’m almost 100 ft from my nearest well and that is code for wells in the fairbanks area. All my wells are 40’ which is also code plus the usage this outhouse will see is minimal compared to a home
@@jimmieburleigh9549 none taken I actually thought about this a lot that’s why I stayed above the water table, our home septic tanks and leach fields are required to be 100’ from our wells. I’m going to install a RV toilet in the cabin so the women can use( #1 only)in the winter which is prob 15’ from the well I’m going to have this leach just beneath the surface. I think this will be fine.🤷♂️
Bring up a fuel rated barrel next trip to give yourself a spot to empty any extra fuel at the end of a trip up to be the first fuel used on the next trip to keep it cycled. laying the barrel in a cradle to hold it you can easily thread in a valve into the small bung and a pipe into the big bung to give an easy time to get fuel out and put fuel in. You get an easy to keep fuel storage at the cabin along with slowly building up a surplus so you have extra on hand in emergencies like a storm or accident.
If I’m light the big boat will run pretty shallow. The little boat goes really shallow. I’m working on a video for next week which should have some pretty good drone shots of the big boat and we take the little boat up a river as far as it will go
If your outhouse hole has reached the water level, you need to be aware that you may contaminate the water you are getting from the pumps. You may need to consider an alternative; such as a self-composting system that won't leach into the water table. It's a very serious situation if your waste leaches into your water table for the health of all concerned. We have seen the results of this happening in a small community in Western Australia when we lived over there.
Valid point I’ve thought a lot about this, I’m right at 100’ ft from my nearest well which is code for all septic systems in fairbanks and North Pole area. Also my wells are 40’ down which is also code, and this cabin is a recreational cabin not permanent living, I did leave a couple ft of dirt above the water table. I think At times i could have water in the hole during break up which would concern me. And for the most part we bring fresh drinking water up with us.
Thanks for advising me of your local codes. That and infrequent usage should be enough to ensure safety. I am a retired plumber and it concerned me. Not wanting to be a pain and tell you what to do, just concerned the well-being of you all. Keep up the good work and enjoy the fruit of your labors!!!!
Never heard of that I’ll have to look that up. I have drilled holes in stumps and filled with diesel or used oil and never had success with it wanting to stay lit
It is a 1987 28’ weld craft there isn’t many of these around only 6 of the 28’ boats were built I was told. If you can find a 22’ weld craft 2 window boat they are great boats and handle the ocean a lot better then 20’ boats
Composting toilets need heat to work they don’t work when they freeze . Out houses have worked in Alaska for hundreds of years when they get full you dig a new hole and they naturally compost .
Oh man when I glanced at the thumbnail i thought it was the roof cut off a 57 wagon jimmy rigged onto an aluminum haul. Ha i watched video and seen i was way wrong and sub’d you 👍🏼
not to be a downer but when you'll run those boats at high speed up the river (not like eskimos in canoes) would you not think that the fish would stress out ( like if I flew a 747 10ft over your house)
I just love all the everyday things you folks have done for me to learn and understand what it takes to live in Alaska GOD BLESS YOU FROM VIRGINIA
Had that exact 6X6… put many a mile on it on our deer lease in South Texas! Great times Great memories!
Thanks for sharing! Be Blessed 🙏🏻

You've done a nice job raising them boys and seem to have good hardworking family. You've got a lot to be proud of, Well done Gentlemen.
Thank you
Just found your channel. Very cool. An adventure just getting to the cabin. I love it!!!
Молодцы. Отличная семья. Роботящие, воспитаные в труде дети, залог успеха в жизни. Желаю всех благ и здоровья.
Watching this made me realize, if you’re not a creative person with problems in AK, you probably won’t make it long. Great video. Thanks for sharing

Yeah we are working on that, I’m building a sauna with timbers and the trees we are running through the sawmill are being cut near the cabins
Really enjoyed this! 👍😎🐾🐾🌎🇨🇦
Thank you
Game changer for cabin!
Yes it is nice to have it up here
Catching up on some older vids, how far by water is it to your cabin?
45min boat ride
I love your boat with the cabin 👍
Thank you, we’ve put a lot of work into both we built the hard top and put the windows in the boat and the cabin we started raw land
Next time, use the winch to bring it off the boat.. 😉
Things get done much faster when it’s a family affair 👍👍

It’s near nenana, teklanika River
2:43 dogs like. Is this shat going to work?? 😆
Awesome Content guys...☺
Thank you
Love the the big boat.
Nice spot .
Looks like you guys got that down to a science!:-)

That would be better. Way to close to the water table going to get contaminated

I always leave as much fuel as I can during the summer we burn a lot while building
damn that is an old school log mill
I built that a couple yrs ago starting with a riding lawn mower. If you look through my cabin playlist there is a video of how I built it
Love that big boat, how shallow will it run, the boat you fished from looks like it will run on dry land. 😂 Glad I stumbled onto your channel.

@@richardmilne8733 no for sure if you see something wrong say something.
Can hear that stroker purring in the back ....
Just a 351w
Thoses are great boats is that a munson??
No, it is a weld craft it’s 28’ it was a tour boat when I got it, I put the aluminum top on it with hard windows
Ouch, sounds like somewhere someplace someone or something did you wrong. And your response is to take out with the rest of us?
I’m glad you liked it
They made those 6x6 in 2 stroke?
Yes that’s why it’s smoking so bad I have mixed gas in the tank because I wasn’t sure if the oil injection was working obviously it was
Is that a homemade sawmill or who makes it?
I built it a few yrs ago, if you look through my cabin playlist on my channel you will see the build video
use a swedish torch and the stumps will burn them selves out
Never heard of that I’ll have to look that up. I have drilled holes in stumps and filled with diesel or used oil and never had success with it wanting to stay lit
Are the trees too close to the cabin for safety?
We’ve been working on thinning them out, I’m actually up here now cutting more down
Whats that boat called? Looking for a god utility boat like that one

Why are home steaders in Alaska aloud to Pollute, Why cant they be required to use composing toilet

What do you mean? I do have a 55’ ford pickup in the back yard I didn’t think it’s in the video.

That's so dangerous of cave in I hope you know that.
Dog looking at 6x6 thinking this is really a fucked up idea !!!
I noticed that when I was making the video, the water/waves from the boat were slapping on the 2x6’s the 6x was on
