Ok I have tested MIDI of the valeton vlc200: the clock stays well in sync (both receiving and sending) BUT indeed it does not react to start/stop control messages (neither as slave/IN nor as master/OUT). I think the expectation for most people would be that the drum machine's pattern would start "on the beat" when receiving a start message. I don't know if it can be changed in a future firmware BUT as an ex-product manager, I myself would have at least asked the team to SPECIFY/describe the behaviour in the documentation/manuals. I left this feedback also on Valeton's promotional video.
There's a discussion on the BeatBuddy forum about how to make MIDI cables for it, together with how to mod BB to two 3.5 TRS mini jack sockets which would allow standard 3.5mm TRS on both ends. There's also a diagram of the pinout of the BB PS2 socket used for MIDI that would allow you to make a PS2 to 2x3.5mmTRS, as used here.
a MIDI cable with a DIN5 on one end (assuming you connect it to a standard 5-pin-DIN socket or another MIDI device) and a jack (TRS) on the other end for the valeton looper pedal. MIDI TRS Type A. Or straight jack-to-jack if both devices are/support TRS typeA.

Cord connections you used and stuff like that as well. Thank you!

A mini DIN-6 plug schematic it is in a Singgular Sound BeatBuddy Manual and for a TRS-MIDI is a Type A.
Brilliant! Can you tell us how you did this? Thank you 😀
What kind of cables to use for connection?
