It's a good thing I watched that video before it was deleted. I really enjoyed seeing Steve rehearsing with his FTLOSM band and the interview was so interesting. I agree with you 100!% that you could see that Steve was still very passionate about doing music in 1993. I also loved hearing him share some fond thoughts about being in Journey. Thank you so much for talking about the video, Dave. As a long-time fan of classic Journey and Steve Perry, I am always very interested in hearing about them and I just love their beautiful music so much. Have a blessed day.
Thankful I watched the video before it was taken down. Loved the interview. I've never heard Steve speak in great length and it was a pleasure to listen to each word. He seemed genuinely happy and passionate about the style of music he was singing/playing. Watching him during the interview gave me a deeper appreciation of Steve outside of his life in Journey. ❤
I watched that interview yesterday. It was a great interview and he seemed very happy and open. I didn't realize that they took it down until I watched you just now. I'm glad that I was fortunate to see it.
I actually got to watch this prior from it being deleted and the content was something that I had been seen before, the rehearsal footage and sound was absolutely outstanding and A+ AMAZING!!! It’s quite a tragedy that it was removed hear from view in the U.S. The interviews were also quite informative and outstanding !!!!
I watched that video yesterday! I’m bummed it’s no longer available because it was amazing to watch something I had not seen before with Steve. The interview was really nice! And you’re right - he was enjoying what he was doing the the music he was putting out. I know he says he lost his passion for music, but I’m not sure I’ve ever bought into that.
Steve said he left Journey because (among other things) he had lost his passion for music, but that was in 1987, 6-7 years before FTLOSM. He went back to his town, he rode his Harley, he healed himself, and he went back to music again. Is that too difficult to understand?!
I sent the link to someone the other day but didn't get to watch it, checked again and nope, gone. Too bad, I was looking forward to watching it. I should have downloaded the video. 😢
The good lord provided Steve the guidance to rescue himself from Journey management’s abuse of his amazing talents. Thankfully God had plans for Steve that resulted in more blessings for him and his future. Glad I was able to enjoy the video before it was deleted. Please do revisit FTLOSM. The album provides the listener a soulful mature Steve . No surprise another great album by him. No need to apologize for covering Steve Perry news. He is still relevant today. Looking forward to the possibility of Steve releasing new music with his label , Dark Horse Records in 2025.
I always enjoy your videos, not smooth jazz so much but I'm reminded, although I was a rocker kid in the late 80s, do you remember the jazz around that time? Spyro gyra, David Sanborn, Lee Rittenour, Chick Corea... Cool stuff
Dave, check out the track "Tuesday Heartache" on FTLOSM. Should have e been a single. Phenomenal song. I agree that "Street Talk" is the better album, but FTLOSM is great in it's own right. I was lucky enough to see Steve and this band in Fort Worth in December of 1994. Dream come true for me. I had 8th row seats. It was an amazing performance in a small theater style venue. A treasured memory. And yes, JESUS IS THE REASON FOR EVERY SEASON!! AMEN!!
Of course he hadn't lost anything in 1993 because he still had it in 1996 when he did Trial by fire with Journey. He Just needed a break from the constant touring Journey had been doing in the 1980s. When steve toured for the Strange medicine tour he played smaller venues and played less shows. He could have sold out 20k seat arenas but he didnt want that anymore.
Steve is my favorite lead singer of all time. I was very excited back in the 90’s when I bought "For The Love Of Strange Medicine" but somehow disappointed. I really liked "Missing You" and maybe two other songs. I think "Street Talk" had better songs and I really liked "Traces" In my opinion, the Cain/Perry collaboration was very special when it came to writing songs in Journey. "FTLOSM" had several guys co-writing and maybe the musical arrangements could’ve been better. I mean same thing with "Street Talk" but that album has better songs that are catchy and more melodic, more like the Steve Perry’s way/style. Just like "Traces" this album has definitely the Steve Perry trademark. And Yes, in the 90’s Steve still had a great powerful voice and "Trial By Fire" it’s a great album. It’s sad they didn’t get to tour with these songs.
Schon was an asshole to me. He put his guitar tech up to beg some more after i said "no" to the king asshole himself. I met a Japanese guy near Las Vegas who was a big NS fanboi and had a fan website and I had to pretend to respect NS to keep him from butthurt. NS just attracts that type.
Steve has other passion besides making music, and it's baseball!! Steve Perry is a huge SF Giants fan. I believe that the Giants use Journey's song "Lights &" "Dont stop Beleviing"in the 8th inning. . There are videos out there where you see Steve is lip syncing the words to his song's!!! I wish I was there!!
ruclips.net/video/1B8ahkkYvlI/видео.htmlsi=ZFp13-ffVj7EBvUr.... This one has been on YT for 12 years. The quality is not as great, but I believe it's the interview you are talking about
Well looks like Steve Perry was caught on a lie. Yes I saw the Dan Rather interview on how he lost the love for music etc... but was caught! Steve Perry was up & around doing his thing & what he wanted to do. He wasn't in isolation at all.
You've got your timelines inaccurate. Steve did quit Journey cuz he was burned out on nonstop touring which resulted in him losing his passion for music. But he wasn't "up and around doing his thing" til like 6-7 years later when he decided to do a solo album (FTLOSM) and tour on HIS terms. This was after he rested and "rediscovered his personal life again" as he says it. It was only then that he regained his passion, as he has said in interviews. So nope, wasn't "caught in a lie."
We appreciate all you do to keep us informed especially about Steve Perry

great video man
I saw that before they removed it. I loved that band and Steve is fabulous on that album
This documentary is still available on RUclips (link in description of my Steve Perry video).
I went to your page but can't find which video you're referring to
@@105rogue I wasn't notified of your question, sorry: it's called _"Steve Perry - You Better Wait (Official Music Video - 1994)"._
Thank you for the reply I will definitely check it out@@CyregO
@@CyregOI'm sorry but I still can't find it in the description of that video. Was it removed?
I just saw that video yesterday. Had never seen it. I really liked it. I really hope he releases more new music.
Thank you Dave !!!

Have a great week and be safe in this crazy world. 🎶
That Causeway Stars recommendation: some of the more up tempo stuff reminds me a lot of the later music by Yes (the more pop oriented Yes material).

I watched that interview yesterday
This is what VPNs are made for. I just watched it in the US.
Was Lincoln Brewster playing with him back then?
I saw it last night. I liked it.
Why did it get deleted
💯 steve perry / journey 🔥

Exactly.
Why is this the first video where someone brings this up?
In what, 1996-7 they did Trial by Fire?. I’ve seen that video a few times since 2022 🤔

Young Hearts Forever should've been the first release off of this album, not You Better Wait.

Lincoln Brewster is, in my opinion, better than Neal!
