Oldie but goodie. As the 2.0 ages out the Amazon reusables are cheap China junk and not compatible. 10 minutes of your time, two screws and pressure patience on the clips for the sensor. Now I have 15 working reusable cups for the K550 that I was going to send back. Thank you Sir!
Thanks Josh. the other videos are no permanent and also not to the point. waste of time. This video is far superior to the 20 or so vids that wasted my time and data. Hats off toy you for doing a strait up no bullshit video.
Josh, thanks so much! We were getting ready to throw this out as the old hack (sensor magnet and k-cup lid trick) stopped working. old K300 model here.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been battling my Keurig for years with screen issues and eventually gave up on getting other non-keurig pods to work. I followed your instructions and my Keurig is like new again. I can use any pod and my screen issues have been resolved. I was on the verge of getting a new one and now I don't have to. Many thanks your way!
Man, this was toooooo easy. This hack took me 5 mins. The longest part of this was me trying to find my electrical tape. Lol. The sensor doesn't have to be removed. Just cut the black wires to the sensor and bridge them. Mine worked without removing. Thanks again.
Wow! I was hesitant to try this. But... it really works. I even took apart a sample carafe cup and refilled using a basket filter, foil, rubber bands and used the plastic insert inside the cup. All works fantastic! Very much appreciated.
Just tried this today on a brand new Keurig 2.0 and it worked perfectly. I was hesitant to get a 2.0 because we wouldn't be able to use our EZ cups and filters for our own fresh ground coffee. I didn't want to worry about cutting plastic and taping it to the arm like the other videos suggested. This hack was super easy to do and exactly as described in the video. Just cut the green wire in the back to use any non Keurig brand cup and splice the sensor wire in front to get full menu options. Thanks a ton for this video!!!
If you just want the full menu do you have to cut the green wire? I cut the two wires and spliced them. It worked for a minute, and then it wouldn't work anymore. I still have the standard menu options. The sensor is completely removed as well
Hi great vid! I have notice that some of these hacks aren’t working on all models of Keruig . I have Keruig 550 will it work. Purchasers in 2015. I have already did the green wire method and worked before I found this video. Need to know how to get the full menu.
I am having a horrible time with the front sensor. It won’t come out. Trying not to add to much pressure because I do not want to break anything How did you get yours out. Is there some type of trick? Certain size flat head maybe? Advice from any one would help! Thanks.
Thanks dude. This actually works perfectly. I have another Keurig, so I used this hack on my old one. Now it works exactly how I want. Ironic, the new machine is in the box, and I'm using my old one now! My only issue was the plastic parts under the screen for the full menu hack, the clips are plastic and it's not easy to open so you really gotta be careful opening that part of the machine. Luckily, if you do break a clip you actually can't see that part of the machine anyway after you put back together.
+Kamau Ot Performed this mod on a brand new KR-500. Yeah, two of the three clips did break in the process. Of course, as I learned from others, the warranty process of the machine is just like they did with the 1.0, you don't send back the whole machine, you only send back just the k-kup holder assembly itself, which means they won't be able to prove you did this mod.
+caitsith2 you really don't even need to send them the k cup holder you the address they have you send it to is a recycling center that has no way of tracking the returns it's just a tactic they use to get you to believe they are tracking them to avoid scammers I have called several in and never once sent them anything
+Josh Gardner That is something I didn't know. Can't believe they don't send a prepaid tracked shipping box for that K-cup holder assembly, along with the replacement brewer, and also a credit card that they can charge for the cost of that replacement, should the package not be received in a timely manner from the time the end user receives the replacement.
I have a warranty. I don't want to cut any wires. My hack on the 550 was working perfectly until the machine itself stopped working. the hacks I did on the 550 don't seem to work in the 500. Any suggestions?
This works in all models . As far as your machine not working what exactly are you experiencing? Is it not turning on or? Start by just cutting the green wire and see if you can use generic kcups after that . And to speak on your warranty firstly you can call Keurig customer service and tell them it's broken they will send you one out free of charge it just has to be in warranty still ( 1 year from date of purchase ) and you have to read them your serial number off the machine . There is no receipt needed ! OR , you can go to bed bath and beyond and return it without a receipt and tell them it is broken ( you didn't even have to buy it their ) and they will give you a brand new machine ! Let me know if you need Any further assistance..
I took the crimp on the end of the green cable from the connector and placed the magnet on top of the sensor instead of cutting wires. Thanks for the research and advice.
I'm trying to decide whether to buy this unit or not. Wouldn't it be easier for all the other companies to just change their k cup lids so that the Keurig reads it as an official k cup?
Josh... I cut the wires to the magnetic sensor, twisted them and the hack didn't work. Did Keurig modify the Costco product so cutting the wires don't work anymore? I did not cut the green wire because my wife bought one of those clip-on goodies.
They won't dispense a full cup or they dipense very slowly and stop short. My last one wouldn't dispense at all. It drew the water in, then nothing. It made all the right sounds, but nothing happened. I stuck a paperclip up the needle like all the pundits recommend, but that didn't help.
+Geo Thermal paper clip usually does the trick there is a few other thing that I would check . See if the mesh screen in the water tank is is dirty ( this is for non 2.0 models ) if so take the mesh off and give it a try . Also you could take the lid off of the Keurig like in this video follow the water line to the front of the Keurig you will see a purger valve that is connected . Take the valve off and take the insides of the valve out and put the valve back on I have had faulty purge valve in the past . Try paper clip again first really get up there and twirl it around and run a few water brew cycles then all else fails move on to the other suggestions I have given
For those asking, #6 is the hot cocoa setting. You can hear the air being pumped into the cup (designed to make sure there is no left over powder stuck inside the kcup).
For all the people who are unsure about doing this...It does work!!!! Just be very careful releasing the small plastic clips, as they break very easily. I broke the first one, and then figured out the correct technique. Now my K460 works like it should...Thanks JG
Will it work on the K250 model? The full menu and any K cup brands? JUst making sure cause I just bought it and waiting for it in the mail. I don't want to crack it open if it will not give me full menu? Let me know something asap. Thank you!
Josh Gardner It was a mistake on my part. The spring where the bottom needle is came out and wasn't puncturing the bottom of the k-cup, which led to overflow in the k-cup making it look like there was no water flow. Also the thanks for the video it help alot!
Well why don't you just look at all of the comments replying how great it worked for them if the quality of the video makes you reluctant to perform a simple 4 minute task ... Smh
I didn't know this was even a thing. I knew of the covering the caddy with a old lid. But this is fantastic. I was buying the stupid $15 Keurig caddy things. If you drop those, they fucking shatter. Bullshit
Do you still get a hot water brew option by just opening and closing the Keurig, or does this hack get rid of the hot water brew on anything but the K550 with that dumb button you have to hold? :(
Thanks for this hack!!! I have a question though. Do you have any idea about what each setting is for? I was wondering if 2 was for regular coffee brewing but I noticed the cup sizes changed after the hack.
+Brian Hayes #1 is K-Karafe. #2 is Medium-Strong Travel mug. #3 is Weaker travel mug. #4 is standard K-Kup. #5 is K-Kappuccino (2 parts, each 4-Oz.), #6 is a Frothed 6-10 oz mocha or whatever it is. In general, I use #2 the most often, at 12oz with my contigo mug. :)
Sergio Salazar i do have one issue it now seems to drip some water out when i close the top even when i have nothing in it, it is preheating for a carafe I'm assuming, but its like the heated water reservoir is already full and it still tries to get more water, its very little though so for the full function menu its a small sacrifice
6-10-2015 just did this to mine..OMG it works..now i am loving my keurig even more..thank you for the hack..i was going to spend money on a Keurig 2.0 Freedom clip but when i saw your video, i saved money. and it took like 10 minuets.
Totally Works Great! I am not tech savvy,But just follow directions and you will NOW have the Keurig that is the way it was suppose to be! 2 Thumbs way up!!
*GAAAASP* MY SAVIOR!! I've been looking for a permanent hack FOREVER. The magnet also stopped working for me and NOTHING would make it work again. You are a miracle, THANKS!!
Thanks to Kate Grey, Josh Gardner, and Appyface for the tips about the k550!! I'll just add if you have a k550 when you get to the popping the clips part start with the clip on the right most side with the unit facing you (there are 4 clips in total). I did that clip last on mine and broke the clip (maybe a little heavy handed on my part) but everything works fine and thanks to you guys I now have a coffee maker that works like it should have in the first place.
Josh Gardner as im lead to understand 2.0 filter basket eliminated having to do what you've described in other words partly the color and out side writing the video in other words cut s cam off someone else made a switch to override the infrared cam too omg that takes balls
a you tube vide discusses the 2.0 filter basket if you need to call me about this or any commentary made ill explain it further if need be u have my Comcast number im pmd u too privately and thanks again
Please hold your phone horizontally next time. It was a little hard to see when parts of what you were working on kept moving into the black areas on the sides. Thanks.

Thank you Sir!
Thank you, was getting frustrated with using this new machine till I came across your video
Works great now .
Glad it helped
Thanks! Worked great on the K200. Machine is laid out a bit differently, but it's the same setup inside.
Scott Ballantyne I have a K200, what did you have to do differently?
Kelly Dunkelberger getting the top off is a bit tougher, and the layout of the machine is different, but the magnet and cable cluster are the same.
was getting ready to throw the machine out the window...did your hack and now the machine works great...thanks!
I followed this hack over a year ago, and my keurig is still going strong. It make a world of difference!
Thanks Josh. the other videos are no permanent and also not to the point. waste of time. This video is far superior to the 20 or so vids that wasted my time and data.
Hats off toy you for doing a strait up no bullshit video.
Glad it helped !
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing this simple fix to make the 2.0 more useful. I followed it on the 450 and it worked exactly as you laid it out here.
Glad to hear that 😉
Josh, thanks so much! We were getting ready to throw this out as the old hack (sensor magnet and k-cup lid trick) stopped working. old K300 model here.
Thanks for the video. Worked beautifully.
Glad it helped 😊

Thanx fore the vid and info my mom loves it now she can make her faveret coffee
Josh, followed your steps for removing the sensor and tied the wires together. When I put back together, I still see the regular menu. Any idea why?
Not sure you can txt me my number is 4439560776
+Josh Gardner same thing here (posted a comment indicating what I did)... did you resolve this?
Just tried this today on a brand new Keurig 2.0 and it worked perfectly. I was hesitant to get a 2.0 because we wouldn't be able to use our EZ cups and filters for our own fresh ground coffee. can i just splice the two black wires near sensor or do they need to be twisted together?
Do you have to do both to get the full menu? All I want is full menu
If you just want the full menu do you have to cut the green wire? I cut the two wires and spliced them. It worked for a minute, and then it wouldn't work anymore. I still have the standard menu options. The sensor is completely removed as well

Watch my other video for full menu
Thank you, sir! What I want to know is why in the hell wouldn't they allow that in the menu anyway? we paid $180 for the damn thing, ridiculous.
Greed
It worked perfectly, I am now drinking 14 hot ounces rather than a measly 10!
This worked great. and it took a whole 30 seconds to perform. Thank you for doing the initial reverse engineering to find the correct wire to cut.
I am having a horrible time with the front sensor. It won’t come out. Trying not to add to much pressure because I do not want to break anything How did you get yours out. Is there some type of trick? Certain size flat head maybe? Advice from any one would help! Thanks.

On my 550 I used the magnet hack and I had a carafe lid taped to open all the menus. It is not working on the 500. It is all the exact same stuff.
I took the crimp on the end of the green cable from the connector and placed the magnet on top of the sensor instead of cutting wires. Thanks for the research and advice.
Excellent! You answered my question. I have a seeking suspicion that a magnet near that sensor will also pull the contact together.
Thank you! Just did it on my K550, works perfect. No more coffee restrictions.
Great thanks for the feedback !
Thank you I found this video I did what you said and now I love my keurig I love getting the full menu.
😊
I'm trying to decide whether to buy this unit or not. Wouldn't it be easier for all the other companies to just change their k cup lids so that the Keurig reads it as an official k cup?
There kcup design is patented so can't be replicated
Josh... I cut the wires to the magnetic sensor, twisted them and the hack didn't work. Did Keurig modify the Costco product so cutting the wires don't work anymore? I did not cut the green wire because my wife bought one of those clip-on goodies.
+Rolf Marsh I went back and cut the green wire! Wheeeeee, it's working like a champ! Thank you
worked perfect, magnet trick wouldn't work for mine but this did perfect. Thanks have been looking all night for this info.
Please leave any feedback and any questions you may have thanks
do you always cut the green wire on all 2.0 models?
This worked great!!! Thanks so much.
Very nice. Can you tell me how to fix it so the machine doesn't shit the bed after a year? I'm on my fourth machine, and they just don't last.
What is the problem with the machine what's the symptoms?
They won't dispense a full cup or they dipense very slowly and stop short. My last one wouldn't dispense at all. It drew the water in, then nothing. It made all the right sounds, but nothing happened. I stuck a paperclip up the needle like all the pundits recommend, but that didn't help.

I did it on the individual 2.0. My machine don’t work anymore 😔
I did this and my keurig now lights up but doesn't say anything on the screen.
I have the exact same model as in this video.
For all the people who are unsure about doing this...It does work!!!! Just be very careful releasing the small plastic clips, as they break very easily. I broke the first one, and then figured out the correct technique. Now my K460 works like it should...Thanks JG
Yes clips are fragile but no big deal if they break thanks for the feed back
+marty overstreet so what technique did you figure out
Thanks for the hack!! I was doing the hollowed out carafe pack to make 12 oz coffees. Not anymore!!
Just did it and it works perfectly, thank you sooooo much!!!!
😊
Will it work on the K250 model? The full menu and any K cup brands? JUst making sure cause I just bought it and waiting for it in the mail. I don't want to crack it open if it will not give me full menu? Let me know something asap. Thank you!
Yes
+Darill Fowler I just did it on a new one today and it works great.
josh, Orange sharpie is a requirement or any orange markers?
What ?
Everthing seem to be working fine but now i have no water flow, any ideas on how to fix?
nevermind i fixed it.
What was the problem?
Josh Gardner It was a mistake on my part. The spring where the bottom needle is came out and wasn't puncturing the bottom of the k-cup, which led to overflow in the k-cup making it look like there was no water flow. Also the thanks for the video it help alot!
Ok cool your welcome happy it helped
josh, if I purchased the K350 model, will I have the same effect as the K550 model hack menu?
Yes
Thanks for the video. Just did mine and it works! Thanks so much!!
Good !
I wouldn't be so reluctant to try this if the video quality and stability were better.
Well why don't you just look at all of the comments replying how great it worked for them if the quality of the video makes you reluctant to perform a simple 4 minute task ... Smh
I finally decided to do this after a year of owning this thing. I did your fix in 5 minutes. Works like a champ. Thanks Buddy!
Do you think this will work on a 400 because I want to do it but I don't want to cut wires and mess up my kurieg for nothing?
Yes works on all models
Great job. Old video but saved me from messing something up when I go to hack mine.
I am trying it now and the top isn't coming off. I'm afraid to break it by really forcing it. I have a K200. Should I just force it open?
Take a flat head screw driver to the back of the top piece and lift it up
So can I just cut the green wire to use any cup? Don't really need the screen hack.i just make a cup before work
Yes
FINALLY! OMG Thank you soooo much. The simple things in life, make it so much easier.
Hey Josh, did you lose the hot water on demand feature when this was done? I cant figure out how to use it anymore now that everything is unlocked.
Just don't put a kcup in and run a brew cycle to the size you desire
Yes! All I wanted was to be able to use ANY kcup and by cutting the green cord, it made that possible! Thank youuuuuu
I didn't know this was even a thing. I knew of the covering the caddy with a old lid. But this is fantastic. I was buying the stupid $15 Keurig caddy things. If you drop those, they fucking shatter. Bullshit
Doesn’t work for me. Help me please. I followed every step but it doesn’t work. Help me
Thx, just cut the green, and took out the sensor. Work great.
Just did this on my 550 machine and it works great.
Thanks for the video.
Do you still get a hot water brew option by just opening and closing the Keurig, or does this hack get rid of the hot water brew on anything but the K550 with that dumb button you have to hold? :(
If you complete the whole hack it should get rid of it you can just run a brew cycle with out a kcup in the brewer to get hot water
Silly me. You're a genius. Thank you. :)
+GamerGeekChic welcome ☺️
Thanks, only had to cut green wire and all options was available with a non k cup. Didn't need to remove sensor
haven't done the full menu unlock YET, but I cut the green wire and it worked exactly like the video said so! thank you!!!!
Worked great! Thanks so much. Wish I could have done this months ago.
Worked like a champ. I have the full menu and I can use any K cup now.Thank you so much.
How do you use k cups with this?
What? ....?.??..
+Josh Gardner like which one do you click for a regular k cup? Those are the vue and carafe settings aren't they?
+Cristian Martinez click which ever you desire I use setting 4 8oz and 10oz
which green wire?
thanks josh.. just finished mine and its working great.. :) but have a question what is the difference between the colors
... if there is any???
Great video- I followed it and it worked as advertised. Thanks!
perfect man thanks ALOT i was so pissed when i got my brand new 2.0 and wasn't able to brew my old k-kup.... works like a charm!!!!!
I was skeptical but it worked like a charm - thank you!
Will it work on the K400?
woody yes
wil this work on a 450 model?
Yes
Josh Gardner your right i did this hack yesterday night and it works great thank you for sharing my wife loves her machine now
Sergio Salazar i do have one issue it now seems to drip some water out when i close the top even when i have nothing in it, it is preheating for a carafe I'm assuming, but its like the heated water reservoir is already full and it still tries to get more water, its very little though so for the full function menu its a small sacrifice
6-10-2015 just did this to mine..OMG it works..now i am loving my keurig even more..thank you for the hack..i was going to spend money on a Keurig 2.0 Freedom clip but when i saw your video, i saved money. and it took like 10 minuets.
Awesome, thanks for this video. I now get the full value from my Keurig 2.0 !!!!!
So I i still have to cut the green wire or not ?
Yes cut it
Totally Works Great! I am not tech savvy,But just follow directions and you will NOW have the Keurig that is the way it was suppose to be! 2 Thumbs way up!!
This is a Keurig K400 Series brewer
*GAAAASP*
MY SAVIOR!!
I've been looking for a permanent hack FOREVER. The magnet also stopped working for me and NOTHING would make it work again. You are a miracle, THANKS!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks!
Thanks for your awesome video I unlocked my keurig k500 and can use any k kup thanks man!
Will I still have the clock and menu settings if I use this hack. Please help before I take "the leap of faith"
Thanks
I still have my clock and wallpaper settings
Thanks for the update.....check my other one out using the magnet from the fridge.
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
Thanks for the feedback ! Glad ur up and running with no restrictions ! 😊
oldirtdog Thanks oldirtdog.....that will help me too' I am good at putting too much psi on a clip, if it's not unclipping..
Of all hacks I have seen concerning the Keurig Hack, this is the only one that has truly worked 100%. Thanks Josh.
got my freedom cip one pet peeve no 12 oz kcup option I hope 2.0 will get reprogrammed in other words to allow 12 oz kcups I have a platinum plus too
This will allow you to have 12 and 14 oz cup sizes
Josh Gardner as im lead to understand 2.0 filter basket eliminated having to do what you've described in other words partly the color and out side writing
the video in other words cut s cam off someone else made a switch to override the infrared cam too omg that takes balls
I don't understand what you just wrote lol
a you tube vide discusses the 2.0 filter basket if you need to call me about this or any commentary made ill explain it further if need be u have my Comcast number im pmd u too privately and thanks again
2.0 filter basket is purple in color and one version doesn't require paper filters
What the heck is wrong with Keurig? I just want a cup of MY coffee. Thanks for the video!
Solder and heat shrink it the proper way..
Did this on my 500 and now it just says, "just a moment". I unplug it a time or two and then, "preheating". That is all it does.
Thank you Sir it works Great A+++
One more thing. Will the guerig 2.0 have full menu after this hack? Using any Kcup?
didnt work on my k300
Please hold your phone horizontally next time. It was a little hard to see when parts of what you were working on kept moving into the black areas on the sides. Thanks.
Sry
Josh Gardner No problem. Everyone learns something new every day.
Just came to say it worked for me, thanks!
look up the freedom clip.
Easiest one I found thanks man. Easy and spot on. Thanks, best cup ever!
Do this hack!
@appyface thanks for the feedback😊
It worked perfectly thanks! Costco model.
Josh her name is KATE GREY
thank you so much for the help. I was at the point of selling mine.
It worked! Lol I just did this and took me no more than 10 minutes to do and it works. Thank you for this upload.
worked for me. good video
this doesn't work on a K425. Don't waste your time.
