This song was very popular because we could slow dance to it. The boys used to pool their money to tip the local bands to play this song over and over so that we could keep slow dancing to it. Innocent youth! I have seen this Dark Shadows movie and I would suggest that you readers/commenters find videos of the original Dark Shadows TV "soap opera" and the resulting movies. They have the depths of emotion and feeling (and fear) without the slapstick of the movie. P.S. I think that the creator of this video did a great job of editing!

In one of Justin's cds, he explains that he has never mentioned that at that time he was dating a gal, who dropped him and went on her way, and he was devastated. He continued to say he never discussed what that song was about, but it is about the death of a love affair, which can cause great pain and mourning. He is such a gentle soul I am always happy to hear the song in a movie, but it brings sadness to my heart. "Oh how I love you," says it all. Justin just recently said that when he sings certain songs, they take him back to that time and place. I always have wondered if he thinks of the woman, who broke his heart, when he sings Nights all through his solo tours. The music, the lyrics, and Justin's haunting voice, causes this song to be so well loved.
There's a lot to like in this movie, Depp gives a great performance and it's quite funny. Sure it's far from Burton's best, but I find it underrated and a fun watch similar to movies like Witches of Eastwick, Death Becomes Her, and Addams Family.
