I love this shit. Being pleasantly humbled is always awesome. And then to be circling with a legend would be radical beyond belief. Thanks for the video.
Back 20 years ago I had Kevin Magee come by me at Eastern Creek approaching the U-turn corner, on a trail bike looking thing, Cool I thought I will stick with him. Well, he was well gone by the time I left the corner. Very humble nice guy Magoo. Off track a bit later, I was coming out of the toilet block and ran into him at the door and he actually said hello to me. I told him of my on track humiliation with him and he said yeah "I recognise the leathers, I sat behind you a little while actually and you're going alright, nice and smooth, you just need to be a bit braver on brakes, but have patience, dont push it too far beyond your comforts and you'll get there, but that's where you'll improve" What a great guy, made me feel a million dollars.
Thanks for sharing this Kar, not only are you gifted in design, you are clearly extremely talented on a superbike, awesome memories shared with living legend John McGuinness.
Thank you very much sharing your own personal humble experience!! As others have already commented most of us will never be fortunate enough to share a track riding with a genuine legend. Take care and ride safe 👍
When you think you are on top of your game, some bloke just blows you clean out of the water. Those guys make it look so easy. Great video without all of the music crap that others put in. Well done.
I came across Steve Plater on the road, I'd been out on a loop around Lincolnshire and pretty much left everyone who I caught up with. I passed him thinking nothing of it until checking my mirrors and seeing he was still there. We passed each other on several bends until we came to what must be one of his favourite roads. He pulled a wheelie exiting this roundabout, waved and took off. Very humbling
Sharing the track with professionals is a proper eye opener. Your trying to go as fast as you can and they’re just bimbling round taking in the sights 😂😂
Texas here. 10-12 years ago, I was racing in a regional organization. Kevin Schwantz came in to a Saturday endurance event, he's damn near 60 now, and blew my doors off.. Those guys give us motivation!
3m 56secs shows you just how much he is playing where he closes you down juat for a second or so. Fantastic. How I would love to of been there on track. Very lucky.😊
I did a track day at Phillip Island on a S1000RR just before the MotoGP, some of the lesser known racers wanted to learn the track so they had to go in the White slow group as they hadn’t been at Phillip Island before, man, they went so quick they made me look stupid lol. This was on their first lap!
@@Bluepilled-c5tEveryone has to go in the White group for a 20 minute session at a track day if they haven’t been to Phillip Island before. It was my first track day as well. There were a few motorcycle journos from Europe as well as racers getting to know the track. After the first session the times were checked and they soon got to the faster grades. But everyone has to start in the slow group on a track day if they haven’t been before.
I had come across a very similar story on the 'IRL smurfing' subreddit. Lad was riding around I think Magny, and he came across Valentino Rossi on an outlap. He overtook him and went on his timed lap. He was then overtaken like he was riding a bicycle instead of a motorcycle, and only then learned it was Rossi, and not your average Joe.
Haha... love it. I had a not dissimilar experience back in the late 90s, I went past a cyclist on the A41 Finchley Road heading into central London, as I passed him we looked at each other... turns out I had just overtaken Carl Fogarty, WSB champion.
At one of our trackdays ten years or so ago Guy Martin turned up. And borrowed someone's 90's dream bike AR80 for a session. (for old times sake, apparently he had one in the day). So many of us got to lap Guy Martin at Cadwell. Because no matter how good you are, an AR80 can barely get to 50mph.
Nice Kar! Thanks for showing us that! Miss PB soooo much! Wayyyy better than BIKE and Fast Bikes etc! Why couldn't one of those mags have folded instead?? Has to be a back story there that will come out one day. Cant just be a financial/lack of sales scenario right?!
When McPint goes out for a chill lap and PB's resident concept artist appears gradually. I watched this video with the audio very low and missed your narrative, but 5:49 confirmed what was happening
@MOTOKANDI Zelf heb ik vier jaar circuit gereden . Op zolder België, een fantastische hobby maar door drukte van mij. Eigen bedrijf en risico ben ik toch maar gestopt. Grtz Rob
You can see in the camera his and your lines are completely different, he probably riding at 65% of his ability At least you can say you’ve been on track with John McGuiness
I had similar at Cadwell, I couldn't catch a big naked bike, I was getting more and more ragged, until brain finally took over, and I pitted. Enter Mr McWilliams on a ktm.
Probably just doing some work for HONDA, assessing the latest road Fireblade. Your bike would have given him a yardstick to measure the new bike, especially braking and corner entry.
He was making a guest appearance for Performance Bikes magazine, I'd seen him wandering around the garages earlier in the day but hadn't occured to me that he was going to be out on track 😵💫
Yes, every time he 'rolled' smoothly out of a corner he gained a few meters on account of a superior line. It was so much clearer when he was following, but when you are ahead you are not paying a lot of attention to behind.
I love this shit. Being pleasantly humbled is always awesome. And then to be circling with a legend would be radical beyond belief. Thanks for the video.
What a privilege and reality check all in one ! Thanks for posting this 👍🏻
He was also showing you his lines, his precision and how he can carry more speed easier with a different approach than what you're using.
Fast and smooth. The professionals make it look so easy. When in reality it's just mind bendingly difficult! Hats off to both of you.👏🏼
Well done. Great fun.
This is class … John is a living legend

Appreciate you watching and the kind comment! 🙏

Another level....still human when off the bike... unbelievable, great video
He looked like he was riding down the shops for some milk! No hanging off, no head down behind the screen... Amazing!
Totally different riding styles (GP/IOM) but damn! That appears to be a road bike and John’s just cruising FFS. Love it!!!

Cool, calm and collected. What a pro
Imagine how many moments like this were lost in time for lack of tech.
What a great video.

You just experienced what many of us can only dream about and that is being out on a track with John McGuiness, thanks for sharing it.
Cheers for watching and taking the time to comment 👍
Badge of honor getting your rear handed to you by that guy. Legend for sure. Wonder what it would've looked like if he had run full out.
This video would've been a lot shorter 😂
Sharing the track with professionals is a proper eye opener. Your trying to go as fast as you can and they’re just bimbling round taking in the sights 😂😂
Haha exactly this! I'm always astonished by the unreal speed their brains work at 😁
Cool. Some people are smart, pretty, strong, or whatever. Some people are really fast. Great video!
John made that look effortless. Great bit of footage mate, nice one.
Some humans are blessed with a superior built in gyroscope ( and a better machine helps )
great experience my friend memory forever

what? That's crazy. White group is pretty slow, any racer of any level, not even comparable.

Brilliant, what a lovely track to ride, Johns a great guy to chat to as well.
Great video thanks for posting it!👍

Amazing! Awesome video clip.
Cheers!
I once flew past Connor Cummins on the mountain. My old ZX6R was no match for his van 😂

Haha so true!, but now you can say you lapped Guy Martin 😆
He was rolling off, so he didn't catch you.
Talented rider, but you did well too.
arfarfarf well that musta been abit of an oh fook moment wen ya realised. great video m8 well done.
You don't shake McPint, only if he lets you.....great moment !
Awesome!
Do you still have that bike?
I remember reading about it I pb
You was trying, he was flying 😅
I recoded this 10 years ago but just uploaded it to stay relevant
Nice video. Was it a 1,000cc group test?
Just a PB trackday, it was a good ten years ago now but I think it was a free draw for the readers
Very cool

You did pretty good actually.
Smooth is fast 🇬🇧
😉💪🏻🇪🇦
awesome.

Dankjewel voor de indrukwekkende film. Goed gereden trouwens.😊
Bedankt voor het kijken, ik ben blij dat je ervan genoten hebt! 🙏

So McPint was doing a couple of laps in 6th gear at tickover, probebly destressing.
Probably wondering if he could get 60mpg if he kept it at a steady throttle
reminds of of the time a mate of mine on a Gixxer 750 got overtaken by Neil Hodgson on a CB500 going into Paddock at Brands
The k5 still great even against the very latest superbikes
Awesome
What track is this ?
Literally tells you in the first seconds of the video
@@riderzinccheers 👍
That is why the bike is called a Fireblade in the hands of a professoional riderit can exterminate the competetion

I'll be surprised if he was trying as much as 65% 🤣
You lucky bastard.
Haha, yes!
HaHa good one!
I ve never done a track day in my life
Can i join you sometime ? 😂
😁
well, you should. They're awesome. Completely different experience from the road.
I had similar at Cadwell, I couldn't catch a big naked bike, I was getting more and more ragged, until brain finally took over, and I pitted.
Enter Mr McWilliams on a ktm.
Brilliant! He should've taken a lesson from McPint and lured you in gently...
🤩👍🇺🇸⚖️👁️👁️⚖️🇺🇸😁😁👍👍🏁🏁

His lines are better than yours. You should copy and learn from him.
Dude, it wasn't for lack of trying. On the other hand, I'd wager that my Photoshop skills are better than his 😜

In the deep end pal…enjoy
Did u shake his hand and have a crack?
