Hi. Your video was helpful. I'm trying to research water filtration systems for our home and can't seem to find much on the KDF treatment process. Specifically, I'm wondering about whether the use of Copper and Zinc to "Redox" can have any negative health impacts on drinking water or any bad by-products. Thanks for any info you can provide.

any physical methods control the water hardness

do you physically put the sodium that counterbalances the carboxylate or where did it come from before adding hard water

Yes, the sodium is added to the ion-exchange column as part of a conditioning process. Typically this is done by pumping or flowing a concentrated solution of sodium chloride (common table salt) through the column. The high concentration of sodium ion will displace other cations from the ion exchange resin. This conditioning process has to be repeated periodically.

It's good information for softening but not for demineralization

    Where does the Cl- go?

But why does Na+ doesnt considered as the source to make water hard why only Ca and Mg ??

    • @TrueBlueChemProf

      +NiTiN Rana
Because Ca and Mg cations (common ions in natural water sources) tend to form insoluble substances when they bind certain common anions where as Na cations do not. The formation of insoluble substances is the source of the scale that often builds up inside pipes and boilers.
