Yep. As a kid in daycare or class or after school events I always played in the groups with the other girls. It was right. My mom caught me playing house at daycare and pulled me from the program. Suddenly grandma was watching me after school.
I wanted my hair grown long, I said things like "that's cute" to the point where my mom would aggressively correct me "boys don't say cute! Stop saying that!"
The clothing that I would pick out at the store when it was time to get new clothes... They were often tops and jackets that were women's clothing that accidentally been placed in the boys section.
My mother would say you can get anything from this section (looking at me of course not my brother). And I would always find the top that was form-fitting an extra soft.
It was always there. Even when it was being beaten out of me find my mother and stepdad so that I can be tougher. Around Junior High and High School, puberty hurt. I felt like a monster. I didn't get along with any of the guys. Every girl I thought was pretty and decided to talk to informed me that they were a lesbian or bisexual.
There are a million other signs growing up that I was different. I didn't have a word for it. Come to find out a lot of people around me saw it. Unfortunately, my mother was one of those people who saw it and her gut reaction was to reinforce aggressive male stereotypes. It worked wonders for my brother. But it hurt my heart.

So sorry about your "friend" attacking you. But thanks for outlining all your thoughts and experiences. For my first 45 years or so, it didn't feel that obvious that my brain was in the wrong body, but I did have more female friends than male and there were various subtle clues here and there that I eventually pieced together as I got older and found out one of my best female friends was trans and that's what got me started researching it. Best wishes and prayers on your continued recovery from surgery and that it's everything you've hoped for. And I know it's hard to believe these days, but for all the loud and obnoxious people you hear spouting off on the subject, there are also still plenty of people out there who are willing to listen and learn.

C-sections are absolutely nothing like what you're going through. Yes it's a cut to take a baby out and I'm not saying they are not painful, but they're up and healing a lot faster, and it's a lot less invasive. They are two different worlds of pain,, but you're doing awesome and you're resilient!
    ❤️❤️❤️
