As a former Marine. I heard he was once in the Navy. I didn't believe it until this interview. Dude is funny as hell. He is that dude that is comfortable in any crowd. Solid!

As a white guy who has since a young age love black woman and the culture I love how he’s accepted. I’m not a white dude trying to be hood I’m just a normal dude that’s cultured.
Before anyone says some messed up stuff, I gravitated towards the culture because I got bullied by white people never black folks. Same with women black woman always treated me nicely

I don't understand why people care about his personal life! I only care about him work life. His personal life is between he and his wife! I give him props for walking away. Instead of cheating/hurting her for years!
@@keisharice6713people often find some sort of comfort or relation when people they view as celebrities or idols, are dealing with the same struggles within their lives, that those “normal” people are dealing with in theirs. And I don’t know a single person who views the celebrities that always try to paint their lives as perfect in the eyes of the public, and their fans just can’t relate with that type of reality, who isn’t viewed more negatively than positively. Take Russel Wilson for example. Everyone has always gave him hell because he comes across as so disingenuous and inauthentic, and like every word he utters in public view, was completely scripted nonsense to be “the perfect response”. Nobody really vibes with that. So seeing people at that same kind of popularity or social status/ public recognition, who are genuine and open about their life on both the good and the bad sides, in any way, it immediately resonates and helps break through that initial feeling to want to idolize that person and gives them a new found appreciation for them, just as a person to person level, not only as an idol.

I have never seen anyone handle a heckler like Gary. I saw him stop his show and do a whole 5 minutes on the heckler alone! Then went right back to work lmao. One of my faves for sure!
Cam that was great advice you gave Gary about his kids. We have to keep that relationship with them regardless of the situation. They need you just as much as the Mother. Keep giving great advice Cam and Gary don't give up on your kids. 😀

Cam gave GREAT advice regarding Gary's family situation. I'm going thru the EXACT situation that Gary is going through with his kids. My daughters are 21 and 23 yrs old. Both have cut off all communication with me. I have continued to reach out and continue to be ignored. Yes.... I hurt mom (emotionally) but I never stopped loving them. It's very difficult not being part of their life.
I never knew he was in the navy. I remember being a kid and seeing him on comic view back then. Gotta thank him for his services. Salute def a inspirational story.

Your children are adults and they make their own decisions. One day they will understand why their parents are no longer together. Gary is the truth…when I lived in San Diego…actually hung out with him on several occasions at Mission Beach playing B Ball…during the game and especially after the game before the next run whether our squad won or lost, he would have us dying with laughter. Saw a few of his shows back when 4th and B(Broadway)was the spot downtown San Diego. Genuine Authentic Real and a Great Dude! Much Respect to You Gary and to You as Well Cam for having him on! Gary is from Ohio my homie. I met him first time at his show in Ohio. In the Flats. 💞I live in another state now my niece said I have tickets to see Gary Owens sure had never heard of him. I laughed so hard my stomach and lungs hurt 🤣🤣🤣. After the show met him took a photo and he signed a video of his. That's how long ago been Rockin as a Fan 🥰

Emotional support of your children is just as important as financial support.....keep that in mind....now that you have adult children Emotional support is paramount.....
Now Gary is further south from where I was born but John Bohner had an office in my hometown. I was gone by then but I must say....Gary is like every white dude I knew back in the day. He would take us to AWB concerts and we took them to EWF and KOOL and the Gang concerts.

I’ve gone through it. My parents divorced after 33 years and I was in my 30s I was devastated. It happens just like they said you idolize your dad, you demonizing him, and you humanize him. In that order exactly.

I've only sat down and watched a cpl full podcasts of Cam's; this one and the Charleston White one. Prior to those two, I had only seen short clips of various interviews. I must say Cam has a solid thing going here. His interviewing is top notch; he asks really good questions; has great active listening skills and doesn't interrupt the person talking. I've been a fan of Gary's since his days of Comic View and glad to see he is still in the game and still funny as ever. Great content by both men; Great interview
