    Your comment about not hiding in your marked unit, reminds me of what I told my son. A visible marked unit is to deter crime and an unmarked is to catch a law breaker.

    Chief never in our history has quality leadership in law enforcement been so critical. I can tell even having never met you, that you represent that standard. I hope by the title you are not leaving the agency unless a larger law enforcement organization has made an offer. The profession is too deeply ingrained into you to not stay in the saddle for a bit longer since you bring creditability to the badge and your troops. You set a standard of ethics, professional dedication and what I term DUTY, HONOR AND COMMITMENT to your officers, guess we will know Saturday.

    Probably the most fascinating episode you’ve ever posted. I too am getting close to the big 10-10. Maybe this summer, maybe three years from now. I envy your transition to EP. I’ve done quite a bit of training in that field and I find it fascinating. You have inspired me with your work ethic AND your commitment to fitness, although I’m not far along as you. Stay safe, Chief. I’m envious of anyone who can retire with the same number of holes they started with. -OG

My dad is a HUGE Buckeyes fan. Nice FD. My dad's been a Walton County volunteer firefighter for almost 19 years now. Yes sir. Man's 68 years old and still getting out in the shit. Heck yea!!! 😎🤘, nice shooting with one hand. ❤ loving ❤ your town. My kinda place. Yes sir, I broke out the DR mower this morning and work on cutting down my shooting range out in my field. Getting a THICK out there, so had to break out the DR then the riding mower. Looking good now after 3 hours of cutting. Yeap! I had a few 🍻 after my shower. My ass was WORE OUT. Sometimes I'll lesson to classical music to help me relax. I lesson classical music every morning my drive into work. Help me relax for the day to come. Good morning HR, I wanted to say that I've enjoyed your videos for a couple of years now.
    My PawPaw was in the air force, my dad in the Navy, and a baby brother in the Marines. After my dad got out of the Navy, he started playing lead guitar, so I grew up playing bass guitar, long haired party animal, somewhat on " both sides of the fence ", as pawpaw was a preacher.
    In my 30s, I felt the desire to do something important, worthwhile, and I tried to enlist in every branch of service, tried to join the local police force, but alas, nobody wants a 30+ year old construction worker.
    Here in my 40s, I still feel the call to something greater, and I respect our local police, I would do anything to help, I thank all of our service men and women, and somewhat envy those who give themselves to a greater cause.
    And thank you HR Funk.

    Good morning HR. Looks like a nice little town where you live in work. This video is a very nice tribute to all our LE personnel out there. Your career and my father's is very similar. He started as an Army MP in the 60's, during Vietnam. He was fortunate to be stationed in San Francisco and didn't go to Vietnam, but was ready to do so. He got out of the Army in the late 60's and joined the SFPD. Was there for a couple of years before leaving for a small town PD (Granger WA pop 1800 per 1980 census) in the early 70s. In 80 he became the Chief and held that position for about 5 years before leaving to open his own business, in the then booming video cassette rental industry. (He rented VHS, Beta and laser disc movies LOL) He returned to GPD in 89 as a patrol officer and retired in 93. He passed in 2013. This video reminds me of him. Best of luck in your new endeavor.

I have to say that I wish all police officers were as easy going/straightforward and have the type of moral Code that you live your life by. Throughout my life, I have lived in many different places. I actually grew up in a small community similar to yours. However, our local chief of police was very crooked and ended up stealing property from local families and got involved in quite a bit of corrupt dealings in his career and unfortunately ended up taking his own life too avoid a lengthy prison sentence. I have always had a lot of respect for all law enforcement and it is so refreshing to see that there are still some amazing police officers out there who deserve our love and respect. I always pray for the safety of our law enforcement, firefighters, military, healthcare workers Etc.
    If my career hadn't gone the way it did I saw myself working with the FBI as a supervisory special agent. Who knew that the whole serial killer thing would be pretty much played out by now...🤷‍♂️ My mom majored in criminal justice and I read pretty much all of the books in her curriculum. Anyway I digress... Thank you for being such a Great Man and for serving our Country as a Marine and as a law enforcement officer for well over 30 years. I Salute you Sir! ML&R! (Much Love and Respect) 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
    P.S. I honestly wish that my grandfather was still alive today so I could have you meet him you remind me of him a lot and I guess that's probably one of the reasons why I watch your Channel more than most I guess.

      Thank you so much William. That was very kind of you to say. I’ve tried my best, throughout my career, to be a professional law enforcement officer. Believe me, I’ve made my share of mistakes, but I always tried to live up to my oath and to faithfully discharge my duties. There are many, many, other officers out there with the same sense of honor and commitment. Unfortunately, these are trying times for many of them.
      Thanks again, and take care.

Everyone there has been fired from other agencies. Lack of training, lack of staffing, lowest paid department in the area. Just Google the South Tucson Police dept. It has a sketchy past. I retired from LE after 29 (civilian) years + 1 military (LE) hitch. Sounds like you've stumbled upon a good gig. But like you, I was fortunate enough to have my dream job. After 2 1/2 years of retirement, I've been offered a small town chief of police position, but I'm "not sure" about that at the moment.
    On another subject, I don't know what optics you're considering for that pistol, but look at the Holosun 507c. I have the older version, and love it. The EOTech style reticle works awesomely. The new version has a chevron inside of the "doughnut of death" instead of a dot, and the battery tray is accessible without removing the optic. It's always on and properly adjusted to ambient light conditions. Something to think about. Good video. "Thumbs up" from this Kentucky boy. 👍

    • @hrfunk
      @hrfunk  4 года назад
