Hey dude! Didn't know that was your first event. A few tips that will hopefully help next time: *Use a summer performance tire, even if it doesn't have a lot of grip and a small size. The biggest problem with using all-seasons is the temperature range the tire compound is designed for is too low since they're designed to have grip in winter weather too. The rubber will glaze over and cause inconsistent grip levels, or even chunk apart. *More speed. It'll be scary the first few times, but momentum is your friend, especially with low power cars. *Take turn 1 much wider. If you run all the way around the outside by the cones, you'll carry more speed and will be more and be in your power band. It'll also make turn 2 easier since you'll be carrying more speed from turn 1. Hopefully I'll catch you at Hawkeye Downs next weekend!
Thanks for the input dude! Yeah it was my first event. I was only ever able to get turn one to work in first gear for me. I knew I needed to be going faster, but didn’t really know how to initiate to get myself deep enough to maintain momentum while going down the banking with stock angle. It was frustrating, But overall had a ton of fun. Pissed my go-pro audio went out because I had a lot of really good runs around the inner oval later on that I wanted to have in the video.
@@ShiftyIntentions It just comes down to speed. When I launch from grid, i floor it from launch until I'm handbraking into turn 1. Speed scrubs off really fast. If you're there next weekend I can give you a ride to show you how I do it
Start with donught and than jump to figure of 8. Do 1st gear than learn in 2nd. Also, that track layout looks like its made for car with way more horse power, that long bank is impossible to drift without manjing it along which is pretty hard when You just starting ;)
Hey dude, I feel like they should have a skid pad and some cones so folks can try doing circles and figure 8's before a full on banked course. Either way, looks super fun!
Yeah I would much prefer a skid-pad event, but this is all we have near me. Nearest skidpad event is like 4 hours away. It was still fun. The car felt great on the bank at high RPM. I lost all audio from later in the event, but I got to the point where I was shredding on the inner banking. 7200 rpm on limiter basically the whole way around with a transition in the middle. Felt amazing haha. I had so much good footage that got lost from a dumb audio failure. I’ll get better footage next time and make sure the audio is safe!
Yeah I just need a lot of practice. I did start to get it quite a bit better by end of the day, but my GoPro crapped the bed and lost all of the footage from later on in the day. The hardest thing for me to figure out was slowing the car down for a sharp 180 degree corner going down the banking of the track (hard to tell on camera, but this was on a circle track and the bank is really steep at the first “corner”). Thing was nearly impossible to stop from looping unless I downshifted to first gear at the transition. Eventually I’ll get more into drifting, but probably not with the NC tbh. I like this car too much to beat it quite that hard all the time 😂
@@ShiftyIntentions I practice a lot on the simulator before going to my 1st drift :) It came to me so easily lol it was like 90% off the game! I have a video drifting the nc on my channel check it out
Cameron is the best grid hype man. Seat time is the best thing. It awesome to watch everyone progress
Great job, it is awesome seeing you having fun out there. I just love drifting.
Thanks! Hoping to get out there next year for more. Some news coming on the channel about that actually very soon. Got another car 🤘

Also I knew the tires were definitely not optimal. They were just cheap and I didn’t want to overspend much on my first event.

Ayyyyy small world man. Thanks for checking out the video!
Mt Nc was the easier car to drift :) Practice dude! My nc had a remap and shocks thats it
