@@ardenalexa94 Oh I hate them too, especially Karla who got away by the skin of her teeth with such a short sentence of three people she helped brutalize, including her own sister.
I'm mad that these are getting demonetized. Simon is very respectful about these unlike some other channels, and he will stop doing this channel if it can't support him and his family.
I’m surprised Matt didn’t include the fact that at age 9 Carl Panzram suffered from an ear infection that spread to his mastoid and left him deaf in that ear. Untreated, the infection would’ve given him lifelong brain damage, but since his impoverished family couldn’t afford to get him treated, they decided to do a little at-home surgery. His mother lay him out on the kitchen table and his brothers held him down as his father jabbed a kitchen knife into his ear without anesthetic or sanitization. His father then poured boiling water into his ear wound. This very likely damaged his frontal lobe and therefore his impulse control. His disposition reportedly changed dramatically from that point on. And what’s worse, the cuts his father made actually allowed the ear infection to spread deeper into his brain, causing him seizures and the need to be hospitalized.
Wild if true. Not doubting you of course. If it came from Panzram himself who knows how true it is. All other verified stories from his childhood makes it seem likely, unfortunately.
@@M-_-Oexactly, he’s a narcissist of the first order. Anything he says where is a victim is highly unlikely to be true. Especially considering antibiotics weren’t available until 43’ that makes him living through this in the 1900s doubtful at best. An undernourished farm kid whose had at home brain surgery with a raging infection, stronger people died of infections on the regular. It’s more likely dad just hit him in the head one too many times or he was kicked by a cow. Same effect, less dramatic for his memoirs.
We should start two petitions. The first should be a True Crime option for uploading videos. As long as they report the facts and/or acknowledge speculations they can still be monetized. The second should be for advertisers to choose what sort of content the want to advertise on.
Hello, i would like to suggest the case of Jiří Straka a 16 year old killer from the city Simon now lives in. He is responsible for 5 rapes, 3 murders and 2 additional attempted murders. There is no English language podcast on the case. Additionally he didn't show the hallmarks of what we usually see on CC, Straka never displayed any aggressive behavior when he was young and was generally considered a good child, albeit slightly more emotional than others. He was released in 2004 and now lives a normal life.
Dark humor is vital to personal function when you are dealing with dark topics. I've been a nurse for over 20 years. Most of which were Trauma 1 Emergency Department and ICU which typically have higher mortality rates. Most people I've worked with have developed a dark sense of humor including EMTs, Paramedics, Nursing Assistants, and all the different care providers. People just can't carry that weight and be sane. Most of us go to therapy as well aside from PAs, MDs, DOs, etc because I live in America & when a healthcare practioner seeks mental health help 8 out of 10 times they are fired or suspended until there is "proof that they are sane"
@@HavianEla ❤ how kind. Thank you. The current recent medical school graduates are doing a great job fighting the stigma of health care providers getting mental health help without retaliation. Maybe one day.
@@mandibailey9104 I found that if it is tied to a specific single incident, mental health help can be accepted, but the idea that all the little things can add up? Still not tolerated. Quite frankly, psych patients are often not tolerated. I quit being an EMT when ridiculing me for being nice to the psych patients wasn't enough and when I wasn't attacked by a "particularly violent" one (we talked about nail polish and cats, still can't figure out why other people had problems with her unless they started it on purpose), the other EMTs retaliated by peeling out of the parking lot after we had dropped her off when they knew I was still cleaning and made serval sharp turns at high speed, throwing me around the back of the ambulance. This attitude was typical of my experience in paid EMS, and yes, they were young. Volunteers tend to be much better.
@adde9506 that is absolute BS. I am psych nurse, but make no mistake, give believe the stereotypes--I'm not some lazy asshole that "wasn't good enough" (I was premed, worked in medical research & technology, shadowed MDs, published papers etc. . . I chose my occupation)-- and I have long suspected the behavior you described, but tried to not make uninformed assumptions . . .but I couldn't help wondering whattheactualfuck happens to my patients when I get report about super violent patients and then they come over & they're psychotic, sure, but most of the time as long as you take time to just fucking listen (even if it doesn't make sense yet) this don't have to get ugly. I'm sorry you forced out of the field. (You're invited to come to the dark side. Bridge EMT to RN and be psych RN. god knows we the help now-- and we need the right kind of people helping).
If you break your kids to this extent, you should be held responsible for some of the damage. I understand personal responsibility, but there’s also blood on the parent’s hands.
Panzram was a monster who was the product of his environment. Yes not everyone who grows up in environments like panzram because a serial killer, but there’s s pretty strong correlation of serial killers having turbulent early years
We don't hold parents nearly responsible enough. Parents can do things to kids that if done to anyone else would get you thrown in jail or at best shunned from society. No where else is it seen as ok for you to hit someone else, deprive them of medical care. And yes some of it is a fact of being the legal guardians and needing to keep kids safe, and on top of that you can't regulate it too much with who has kids without getting into nightmare dystopian dictatorship situations. But once you have kids those are people in your care, and if you mistreat them then society needs to stop that. And it extends to neglect, sure hitting your kids is bad, we can all agree on that, mostly. But if you're overfeeding your kids nothing but junk food until they are unable to live a happy life and die at the age of 20 you also need to be held responsible for that neglect. And if you deny your kids medical care that's outright abuse and you deserve to be prosecuted and have your kids rescued from you and put somewhere safe with people who are sane and care about them.
What about his siblings who grew up to do nothing wrong? ( That we know of?) Then again, his brother became a cop. So maybe a legalized criminal. NVM! lol

Yay I got one! Alright folks. This dude was tough, a true bastard in every sense. He has been highly requested, a few asking me personally to do it, so here we are! Hope you all enjoy, and of course, all comments and critiques are welcomed, love y’all! Edit: love that I got the credit at the start but the other Matt got the credit at the end lmfao dear god.
THank you SO MUCH for covering this one! I've been asking for this guy for quite a while (and I remember you said he was on your list, lol). Excellent work, Matt!! 😊
As with many other viewers, I had never heard of this case before. Thank you, Simon, for covering it... and fuck RUclips for making Simon's work (and education about human-created misery more generally) more difficult. I would suggest that Simon investigate Curiosity Stream's language policies; it might be worth the move for this channel.
Are you confused about what this monster did? Did you find it hard to follow because basic standards of decency were followed? I can understand (obviously because I’m here) the curiosity about both the great good and great evil human beings are capable of. But I don’t need explicit gore to accomplish that. Only someone seeking gore rather than education would.
Jody Owen dude chill. This literally has nothjng to do with respect vs gore. It's about the words RUclips flags for demonitization. Simon has never wanted a gore fest, which is obvious if you watch any number of his shows. I do think it's a bit rich not to be able to say some of the words on the list, however, as they are neither grafic nor demeaning. And honestly, if someone is going to get triggered by the word rape vs sexual assault, why the heck they watching a true crime vid
@@JodyOwen-we6oo I think you're missing the point of the original comment. It's not about wanting gorey details, it's that you can tell the toll youtube's new flags are taking on Simon. Having to constantly pause himself to replace the words or skip them because is ruining his flow. I've watched hundreds of his videos (which feels wrong to admit somehow) and I can feel how frustrated he is. It's hard to do a true crime show when even the name of the crime will get you demonetized.
I'm with Simon about being unable to identify how old a child is. I'm at college right now, and everyone looks so young to me now. Surely I wasn't that young in high school!
I’m Half Angolan🇦🇴 & most people I meet never heard of Angola, nor is it often mentioned when people talk about African countries they’d like to visit so to see it mentioned in a True Crime video in one of my favourite channels out of all things genuinely shocked me!
dude was abused by evryone including the people that were supposed to help him. so he just said fuck it, all humans are disgusting including myself, and decided to hurt people at random to feel powerful. if i went through what he went through, i would have either offed mysself or probably became a very bitter and horrible person.
@@lashay7684 I've actually had a minor taste of this mindset myself. It's not even about emotions. You see the sun come up enough days in a row, you're going to assume that it always happens. If the first people you know abuse you, the next people abuse you worse, the people who are supposed to protect you from that abuse abuse you further still, even if it was "just" a string of bad luck, it's still rational to assume everyone is a piece of shit, so I guess I'll just go sate my primal urges and get revenge on all of them too, because that's the way the world works". And no, I'm not saying I've done anything like this psycho, I mean I just started finding videos of people being fatally injured very entertaining. I wasn't just being an edgelord either, I mean it's been probably one of the darkest times in my life so far for the last few years. Clawing my way back from the abyss on that, but it feels a little bit like trying to convince yourself that Santa Claus is real again.
If you can't beat them, become bigger, meaner, stronger, so you can bully them and no one will ever bully you again. I do wonder how horrific the abuse was he endured by his own parents as they are supposed to protect, love, and care for you. My dad did farm work and so did many other people I know who had families of 7+ siblings and I can say the parents were not the most loving and there was beatings, food was scarce and feeding 9+ people was hard, but they didn't turn out like this guy so I wonder how truly bad the abuse was from his family of origin. I've known people who had a similar life and were kicked out at the age of 14 from farming families to make it on their own and you won't ever hear me say they were nice people, they were alcoholic, sometimes violent, had poor sexual boundaries even grazing their grandkids boobs for a feel, but no murder and really terrible crap happened to them. Really terrible and they still didn't turn out like this.
With his original writings being donated to a university you can hope that either psychology students or criminology students can actually use them to learn from vs distribution to the public freely. They may give insight into why he did the things he did, his mental health, and any diagnosis or marks of criminal behavior so that we can now bring people like him to justice incredibly sooner. The guard was doing what Mindhunters did where the FBI started listening to killers and the data gathered made it easier to catch people, but this man wanted to share and the guard simply gave him writing tools and paper. It obviously speaks to his narcissistic traits to need to get his story out there and why the murders he spoke of were so special or noteable to him if there is a belief there were many more he did not speak of.
To the guard, maybe he hoped giving him an outlet other than violence would keep him from beating anyone else. Also, I agree with donating the writings to the university. Understanding why and how the monsters like this man do and think the things that they do can help stop others from becoming this broken
I watched a documentary a while back on the guy and the guard gave some old interviews and remarked how one time he broke protocol and turned his back on Panzram with the gate opened. Panzram scolded him telling him to never do that again because he felt the urge to kill him and didn't want to. Almost like cat or animal he killed people like we'd scratch our noses when it itches. Also before being taken to the gallows he said he'd go willingly so long as there wasn't any preachers or religious leaders around. He truly hated religion and given his childhood I couldn't blame him but the sadism and bloodlust made him a animal that needed to be put down.
These are the details I want, not the ones that make Simon stop reading. It's enough to say he caved a kid's head in with a rock; it isn't the right time for show not tell, better storytelling doesn't necessarily make a better documentary.
Came over from Spotify to comment on the episode! Love listening while doing pretty much everything, your humour is amazing! And the detail and work that your script writers put into all the episodes is incredible! Working through Spotify from the beginning and am at episode 45 or something like that but it started at this episode today :)
We must rally for the inevitable war against the Mighty Algorithm *Edit* Fellow warriors, our call to arms has been heard with profound vibrance. Our numbers may be few now, but we grow. And that is it's one weakness. MORE COMMENTS. MORE LIKES! HOLD THE LINE!!!
I'm so tired of it myself If I have money to make half of RUclips, I would. I would keep it like RUclips was 10 years ago (with graphics like now) and put a minimum of 20% of profit back into the company each quarter
YES!! THANK YOU MATT G!! I've been requesting this one for such a long time! Thank you and Simon for covering Carl!! Audience, you're in for a shocker....
Another well-made video from Simon and the gang! I’ve heard of Carl Panzram before thanks to his unusual last words but i didnt know much about his crimes. Anyway; have you folks ever thought of covering the Cleft Chin Murder? Its a WW2 British tale of a Bonnie and Clyde type pair of criminals who went on a theft spree that ended in the murder of a taxi driver named George Heath. And the Clyde of the duo, Swedish-born American army deserter Karl Hulten, was hanged at Pentonville while the Bonnie of the duo, a Welsh waitress and striptease dancer named Elizabeth Jones, got her sentence changes from the death penalty to life in prison, however she would get out at age 26 or 27 and after that nobody knows what happened to her. Its much less gruesome than what’s normally covered on this channel. No ”abuse” of a child, no women getting ”R-worded” so it’d probably be a nice break for Simon, just saying. And finally; it was mentioned in George Orwells ”Decline of the English Murder” from 1965 and in 1990 a film based on this was released. It was titled ”Chicago Joe and the Showgirl”. Its also believed that this might have been a case of folie a deux.
Please cover the absolutely heartbreaking story of Joe Arridy, the man who was wrongfully executed in Colorado. It's a terrible story but I feel that your writers would do it the justice it deserves.
I agree. Simon already does a lot of censoring the content when it gets too horrible but I don't understand why YT has a problem with the word that starts with "R". Censoring myself incase of further censorship. We listen or watch these episodes because we like the "true crime" part not the gore. As Simon says "CSI, not SAW". If anyone doesn't want that, they should stay off this channel. Simon does lots of different ones, so they should go to those ones. Thank you, Simon, Matt and Jen for all your work. I had never heard of this person before. Sounds like he got the end he wanted.
You are right that in general prison doesn't reform most. But, i did 18 mnths and literally have not committed a crime since, i was an alcoholic, career criminal, no violence, so i managed to get arrested a dozen times and it never stopped me a bit, bit prison dod. I dont/wont go nack! It's been 6 yrs!
I think it could be interesting if you did an episode on Peter Lundin. He is a danish/german murderer. He killed and dismembered 3 people and wrote a book about it that came out in 2009
It seems more and more apparent that RUclips simply doesn't want true crime content on their platform. We need a platform that actually thinks it's important for people to be able to learn from our past mistakes... instead of being hell-bent on becoming one of those mistakes, as RUclips seems to be.
I find it so stupid that they demonetize videos like this - surely there are advertisers that would love to be featured on true crime content? Or any other "questionable" stuff, like horror videos or ones about sex education? Surely they are actually making *less* money by doing this?
True crime is possible to be education. Far more often it’s a socially acceptable way to get a thrill from gore and SA and violence. RUclips not wanting to encourage the 95% of true crime channels that offer a modern version of the thrill Romans got from the Coliseum should be discouraged out of common decency.
@@JodyOwen-we6oo Agree about not wanting to give Roman Gladiator style thrills but Simon trys to emulate CSI, not SAW. I loved CSI but could not watch Friday the 13th or any of those other gore fests they let in theatres w/PG-13 stats. Even some of the war movies are very graphic. Even realistic.
All of the banned words are heard daily on the 24 hour news channels, our local daily news and most crime TV shows. How does Law and Order SVU remain on TV for over 20 years, not on pay TV but regular cable. Censorship should be left to the individual and parents to handle.
I must confess that, back when I was a teenager, I bought and read Carl's autobiography. Thanks for covering him in your channel, he's one of the worst serial killers ever and yet, most people have never heard of him.
I think he encapsulates a quote from "Tombstone" Wyatt Earp : What does he need? Doc Holliday : Revenge. Wyatt Earp : For what? Doc Holliday : Bein' born.
One thing that I've read about this guy is that he had a couple of accidents when he was young that knocked him out for a period of time. So it's been said that he probably had a traumatic brain injury that might have helped him go so off the rails
Interesting. Finding the dates of the head injuries and a life line compared to his dates of crime, being sent to reform schools, jails, etc. would be interesting to see if there was a noticeable difference as TBI is something people around you tend to notice you are different. Maybe his behaviors changed? It would not have been diagnosed at all during that time period or even thought of if he took blows to the head.
I have read that he had a terrible ear infection, which his father tried to cure by tying him to the kitchen table and performing farmer-type surgery into the side of his head. Which caused an infection that was never treated.
Honestly, I love Simon and all his channels. I have listened for a long time, and while working nights n days on end got me through them. The man deserves awards for the educational, factual, and general cool way he talks you through everything even when it's the more loose stuff where he gets to be more him and I'm there for it! Hi5 you legend 🙌
I really don't understand why they demonetize things for you speaking on historical events. Like I for the longest time thought I'm a homeless guy who travels around the country even been to Canada and Mexico hitchhiking around and hopping trains to get where I need to go, and I thought maybe i could make a podcast about that would be cool. But I curse like a sailor I would never get paid.
I just finished an audiobook about Charles Manson and the Manson Family. At the very end of the book, there was an appendix and the author mentioned Carl Panzram. He specifically mentioned him in relation to Charles Manson and the author said Carl's crimes enraged him more than Manson's. This man makes Manson seem sane and well-adjusted. He makes even the unspeakable acts of other serial killers like Gacy, Dahmer or Lucas seem like child's play.
At first I did not not know about this killer but halfway through this episode, I realised I had seen this man in a film protrayed by James Woods. The movie is called Killer A Journal of Murder and it was pretty good and I do recommend it.
I am enjoying your channel very much, it’s the only way I can handle these dark tales, is to include humor, snarky, and commentary. Embracing your inner demon, that describes it, , but it ends badly! Always!
This one was particularly hard to listen to even though you left out the graphic parts. There have been a few and they make you wonder how In the f… a person becomes so damaged. ( I know horrible things happened to him, yes, but how come it doesn’t make one know how bad it is and not want to repeat for another). I’ve always been drawn to the psychology of it.
Parents & siblings who loose their family member in tragic circumstances NEVER completely recover, they NEVER “get over it”! They are forever changed by their loss…😔
I think it's good they kept the Panzram's notes, letters and memoirs. It can give some hard to otherwise get insight in how these people think. Plus, folk tend to be more honest when they write things down for whatever reason, so his writings are probably more truthful than anything he said.
Excellent writing and storytelling! Thank you, Simon and Editing staff for one of the most engaging stories I have thus far seen in the True Crimes part of youtube! The only thing I am left to critique with this is how believable are all of these Carl Panzram's self-recounted crimes? I'm pretty sure you mentioned that all his crimes couldn't be officially verified by law, which is fair considering this took place around 1910. But given all the research the writers must have done, would you say it's more likely Carl Panzram's account of things was at all reliable or truthful?
Simon, the 3 strike thing is also known as habitual offender. If you commit 3 felonies of the same type, I believe they have to be class A or B but could be wrong, then supposedly you can go to prison for life. But it's also up to the judge. They can basically do what they want within reason
Regarding hard labor in the US: the amendment to the Constitution banning slavery explicitly states that slavery is NOT banned for prisoners. I think in many state prisons they are paid for their work, but it's something like $0.06 per day, and they aren't legally obligated to pay them. Usually it's manufacturing stuff, a lot of car license plates are made in prisons in the US. They also do litter cleanup and you can sometimes see prison buses on the side of highways with dudes in orange jumpsuits going around with trashbags picking stuff up. Apparently it's a well liked job because they get to go outside, or so I've been told.
Big ups to Jen or whomever else that edits these days. Simon, say the words they (editors) have your back. I listen as a podcast, because it's easier for me, but I don't mind the blank audio.
I grew up in Miles City. The reform school for boys was called Pine Hills and was just at the end of the street from where I lived. It is still there but is now basically a prison. Very creepy hearing my home town named in The Casual Criminal. Love your stuff Simon!
Simon, I absolutely love you. I have been binging all of these and they are helpful in the triple digits Texas heat . Can you do the case of Aileen Wuornos?
This might sound weird but i been listening to this channel for a while it helps me fall asleep 😂😬…simon input makes me laugh he’s one funny man,not good when you’re trying to get to sleep and start laughing but hey ho love this channel ❤️
It is incredibly ironic hearing Simon say that we shouldn't hold on to the writings of serial killers while reading a story mostly taken from the writings of said serial killer
People like this love to pretend they're above the "other channels" that glorify the nasty gruesome details, when that is exactly what any crime channel is.
@@johncitizen5130Also, the narcissist type of agenda they push to be that unique, one-of-a-kind "true crime" channel is as intoxicating as the narcissistic serial killers they talk about.
With a show this popular AND so conscientious as to how it presents these crimes, you’d think RUclips could figure out how to make an exception for The Casual Criminalist when it comes to certain words.
Your face when you read what happened to the boy at the start was more than enough to tell us what was written on the page... I shudder to think what the rest of this video will be like!
I first came across Carl Panzram in 1985 whilst reading Colin Wilson's book "a criminal history of mankind". Panzram was a VERY, VERY broken individual, in and out of foster homes, juvenile detention facilities, time spent as a hobo riding Americas railways, repeated sexualt assaults and rapes, brutal treatment for crimes like check-book fraud, and actual torture in Americas prison system. Yeah Carl was a monster. But America made him that way.
And yet there were people during that time who went through similar and worse things and managed NOT to turn out the way he did. That was his nature, he was predisposed to violence and revenge. Now I agree on that, had he not gone through what he went through, maybe it wouldn’t have come out the way it did…
@@SmartStart24 Just because people have gone through horrific things and didn’t turn into horrific people, that doesn’t meant we can discount the ones that become damaged enough to become criminal. This idea of “predisposition” does not change the terrible circumstances, nor does it change the pattern of bad situations seemingly creating bad people. Abuse tends to breed abuse. Just because it’s not always the case that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t acknowledge it as an additional problem. Those who commit the crimes are still accountable for their actions, yes, but it does no good to disregard the roots which attributed to those actions and try to make things better for everyone.
@@SmartStart24 also, there is way more evidence that your circumstance, especially as a child, effect who you become more than your nature. Yes, nature vs nurture is still debated, and yes, certain mental dispositions (alcoholism, depression, etc) can be genetic, but there is way more evidence that the worse you’re treated the worse you become. Again, this is in no way an excuse for the actions of criminals, and they deserve to be punished for making the choice to let the horrible become who they are, but it is important to make the distinction between this idea that some people “might” be born bad no matter their upbringing, vs more often people being molded that way from a bad upbringing. Because the former leaves too much space to not changing the horrors that can cause people to turn to crime by claiming they are simply born bad no matter what. It makes it more difficult for society to accept that we ought to adjust to try and create better people and makes it too easy to blame only the singular criminal and not deeper problems that might exist in our environment. Yes, punish criminals, but also maybe encourage mental health care and discourage abusive behaviors so ideally less people will turn to crime instead of promoting the idea of “eh, most people turn out fine no matter their circumstances” when clearly there is a pattern showing that is not true.
That is simply a lie. Prison costs we taxpayers $30000 to $50000 a year. There is no earthy reason inmates, who directly chose the acts that put them there, shouldn’t defray some of that cost. Nor is having a purpose and assigned tasks anything but good for people. Don’t like being in prison and having to make furniture or sweep floors? Don’t break felony level laws. Easy.
True. However there are multiple prison systems in America, not just one. Federal/State, Private/Public, the payment policy differs. You are correct in slavery is protected and continued in the American constitution under the guise of "reform", the true intent being punishment for committing questionable "crimes". The majority of which were non-violent.
I saw the story of Pedro Lopez on another channel and can't bring myself to watch yours, because I know how true it will be to the story. I couldn't make myself listen to the story again, but I did give the video a thumbs up for your ratings. While I do like your videos just for themselves, I also love them because you give work to writers and support and encourage them. We need more good writers who do such meticulous research.
Yes prisoners here in the United States do have to work. It's not included in the sentence it's designated by the prison. Most terrible is that in some states prisoners are forced to make products that companies sell for profit these inmates are paid as little as 16 cents per hour and some places not paid at all.
physically painful listening to europeans speculate on what goes on in our prison system sometimes lol. i wonder how big of a fan simon would still be if he realized prison labor is just legal slavery.
Gummy cats Inmates cost their society between $30000 and $50000 per year due entirely to the inmates choices. What Europeans think is wholly irrelevant. I don’t vote nor pay taxes anywhere in Europe and don’t opine on their systems. They can kindly return the favor. Work in prison according to inmates is a welcome relief from the incredible boredom of incarceration. I spent just 19 days in jail long ago and without the work I would find demeaning in my regular life the time would have been unendurable. You and I could possibly agree though that there is an enlightened self interest in paying some reasonable number like $1.50 an hour to bc a fund available on release. At least they leave prison with enough to get an apartment and hold them over until employed. But slavery? BS.
Prison is for modern-day slavery in the US. Privatized for profit business that are completely funded by government grants, turn a profit off of prisoners, abuse inmates, refuse to educate them, refuse them therapy, threaten them, refuse to teach skilled trades that transfer to life out of prison... all of which adds to more violent crime, recidivism, and does nothing to protect citizens. USP Atlanta was just closed due to corruption by correctional officers and sheriff's that fill the correctional officer's role. Most inmates were set free, mostly those with crimes against children. The inmates they didn't release were beaten, isolated, and starved. The DEA & Army National Guard relocated inmates. Read any article regarding USP Atlanta
I really want the Casual Criminalist notebook or journal. Where can I purchase one? I've heard so much about them for at least a year now, but still don't know where I can buy 1.
I don’t know if this has been covered yet but there is an infamous serial killer in Western Australia convicted of two and suspected of killing another young women called the Claremont serial killer, only two bodies have been found, the other is still missing after a long, long time I think this would be a nice not to long but not to short episode
After being in severe, intractable pain for 14 yrs, don't underestimate how much rage is engendered. Obviously it won't cause you to kill but it can bring the urge to the surface
There are so many sad euphemisms & such that I have heard on RUclips. Sometimes it's stuff like ca & sam etc. My favorite is still struggle snuggle. That one took imagination
I haven't watched yet, but I've noticed that although this gentleman is potentially the most horrific serial killer in human history, he is also the one that makes men the most uncomfortable. No one talks about him.
If you're taking suggestions, may I suggest the Peter Madsen case. It's a story where the premise alone warrants a look. Basically, a Danish rocket entrepreneur invited a female journalist onto his submarine, yes he had a submarine, where he proceeded to brutally murder her, chop her up, and toss her body parts in the sea. It's just a horrific story of a man unleashing his inner monster onto a complete stranger, but the fact it took place on a rocket maker's personal submarine makes it worth a look.
Hey Simon, Kathleen Folbigg has recently been freed after new science shows her daughters died of natural causes. I’d love to see a follow-up video or short on the case!
I actually know about Carl Panzram. Another infamous monster that came from the same area was Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. I despise that bastard so much; his death sentence was just changed to a life sentence last week. It’s so unfair.
The best reason to keep any documentaion is not to justify the villan, but to understand his mthods, learn if ever another monster arises. Morbid curiosity is a thing, learning how to peg criminals down after their first crimes is something we still require today.
I've noticed a lot of other RUclips channels using the abbreviations SA and CA. Obviously I can't explain what they mean. It's not hard to find out. The word unalive comes in handy as well. Mamadov Ndiaye from casual geographic has some of the best euphemisms. "take off the census" "soul filing for divorce" are only a couple.
Simons continued rage concerning Pedro Lopez never gets old! He will always be the benchmark by which all others are measured!

Yeah, Simon was absolutely traumatized by the Lopez case. At this point, I'm beginning to think his daddy heartvsuffers from a mild PTSD after that.
I'm mad that these are getting demonetized. Simon is very respectful about these unlike some other channels, and he will stop doing this channel if it can't support him and his family.

He hasn't been demonetized.
Wow thank you for that little tidbit!

That’s crazy! And these are people who really need help! You can’t help others if you’re being dragged down yourself!
Dark humor is also a hallmark of the military. The jokes we tell each other…black holes have more light.
And those institutions
Completely agree. Kids owe their parents nothing; parents owe their kids everything.
NVM! lol

On youtube's homepage you can submit feedback. I've started complaining. It probably won't make a difference but it's worth a shot.
@@JodyOwen-we6oo I think Jackson means the word rape having to be edited out. I don't think anyone has an issue with Simon respecting the victims.

Carl’s attitude to being abused seems to be “if you cant beat them join them” all the way through.
The dude really did not have a chance, he and Edward Kemper are pure definitions of monsters that are made.
dude was abused by evryone including the people that were supposed to help him. so he just said fuck it, all humans are disgusting including myself, and decided to hurt people at random to feel powerful.
if i went through what he went through, i would have either offed mysself or probably became a very bitter and horrible person.
It’s called Identification with the Oppressor.

@@Bob-xo7fj first rule of CasCrim….. don’t write down your crimes
I’m sorry you have the censor so much. I appreciate the efforts to keep giving us these stories.
Best "ok" cut placement ever! Jen must've been grinning ear to ear when she edited that.
Jen, once again, a marvelous editing job. It especially liked the clip from Chicago. It was right on point.
Simon, everytime you talk about the "RULES", i think, WHERE'S THE NOTEBOOK???!!! You got me so excited for the CasCrim notebook, I'm just sad. 😢
Dude. That Dark Knight quote at the end was spot on.
It's because advertisers don't want to be associated with anything about sexual assault, even news stories about it.
I dunno why, but that “huh, boss?” from Matthew made me LOL pretty hard 😂
Yayyy thanks Simon and crew!
I must confess that, back when I was a teenager, I bought and read Carl's autobiography. Thanks for covering him in your channel, he's one of the worst serial killers ever and yet, most people have never heard of him.

I think he encapsulates a quote from "Tombstone"

Doc Holliday : Revenge.
Wyatt Earp : For what?
Doc Holliday : Bein' born.
Excellent episode!
Because RUclips wants any excuse to keep all the money for themselves.

Please, I would love to see you cover Dr John Bodkin Adams the ORIGINAL doctor death!!!
Really good video! Also please talk about Nishiguchi Akira next
Simon, the 3 strike thing is also known as habitual offender. If you commit 3 felonies of the same type, I believe they have to be class A or B but could be wrong, then supposedly you can go to prison for life. But it's also up to the judge. They can basically do what they want within reason
The problem with that was that he had multiple identities, and this was before they had a dna to identify perpetrators.
The three strikes thing has only been a thing for like 40 years or so right?
Yeah, it's Clinton era like I thought. So 30 some odd years
Regarding hard labor in the US: the amendment to the Constitution banning slavery explicitly states that slavery is NOT banned for prisoners.

He really did not have a chance.
And yet there were people during that time who went through similar and worse things and managed NOT to turn out the way he did. That was his nature, he was predisposed to violence and revenge. Now I agree on that, had he not gone through what he went through, maybe it wouldn’t have come out the way it did…
@@SmartStart24 Yup. And that's the whole point isn't it? If you treat people like animals, don't be surprised if they bite back.
I love seeing Simon's happiness when a horrible monster gets the death penalty.
Fun fact: slavery is still legal in the US for convicts, so people in prison do not get paid any industry or labor they do.
Easy.
That's not true, they do get paid, just not much.
Nonsense. They get paid. Just not very much. I think it also earns them privileges.
True. However there are multiple prison systems in America, not just one. Federal/State, Private/Public, the payment policy differs. You are correct in slavery is protected and continued in the American constitution under the guise of "reform", the true intent being punishment for committing questionable "crimes". The majority of which were non-violent.
Prison for profit?
I saw the story of Pedro Lopez on another channel and can't bring myself to watch yours, because I know how true it will be to the story. I couldn't make myself listen to the story again, but I did give the video a thumbs up for your ratings.
While I do like your videos just for themselves, I also love them because you give work to writers and support and encourage them. We need more good writers who do such meticulous research.
Smart choice. The writers on Casual Criminalist don't skimp on the details and it's Simon's digression as to how much we hear.
Oh. How awful. Criminals are being forced to contribute to society. Nothing could possibly be worse than that. 🙄
Gummy cats
Inmates cost their society between $30000 and $50000 per year due entirely to the inmates choices.
Been waiting for this one.
Oh boy Simon not only is prison labor still a thing in the US. SLAVE labor is still a thing.
Another brilliant case! I’d also like to see a show about Charles bronson, very colourful character
Agreed!
@@lynnkay417 100% with you.
Time to watch it then say nothing 😅
I disagree. This crimes wernt as bad as terrorist attacks.
It is really difficult to believe that this tale has NOT been made into a 16-part mini-series.
What is going on Yankee media?
The best reason to keep any documentaion is not to justify the villan, but to understand his mthods, learn if ever another monster arises. Morbid curiosity is a thing, learning how to peg criminals down after their first crimes is something we still require today.
Thanks For these videos!🎉🎉🎉
I knew the phrase "Hurry up ya Hoosier bastard" but I couldn't remember who said it. I certainly won't forget it again.
Always a good day when I get an alert for a new CC episode. Bring it on, Fact Boy!
