After catching the southbound run of the SOFR, I drove around a bit and decided to go up to this crossing here to film their northbound run. It was a few hours of waiting, but, once again, about 11 AM, they started on their way back north from CSX with the GP40-2LW pair. As they started coming though, I got to chat with a local railfan named Tom for a little bit, so that was nice to do.
This crossing is also a pretty nice one, featuring a nice older install that appears to be from about the same time as Price Street. However, unlike Price Street, this one also got an extra pair of gateless signals on the far side when it was installed, and has also had more upgrades done to it over the years.
It appears that this crossing was still pretty much entirely original up until sometime in the late-90s and 2000s, when the original RACO mechanical bells on the left-hand signals were replaced. I believe the cantilever had its bell replaced first, with what appears to have been a GS Type 1 or early GS Type 2, followed by the gateless signal on the left getting its current GS Type 2 not too long after. The crossing remained unchanged for several more years, until sometime between 2012 and 2014 (after the original 8 inch lights on the gateless signals were all damaged by I'm guessing a hurricane), when the gateless signals both had all of their lights upgraded to the current WCH 12x20s, and the right-hand gateless signal had its original RACO mechanical bell replaced with another GS Type 2.
Then, between 2016 and 2017, the remaining RACO mechanical bell here must've died and was replaced with the current GS Type 3. Finally, sometime between 2017 and 2018, the left-hand signal had its bell replaced once again, this time with the current WCH Type 3. Since then, it doesn't appear any further major changes have occured to these signals, thankfully, and hopefully these signals are left alone for a good while longer. Nice to see more working RACO 12x20s here as well, and this crossing certainly has a rather neat set-up, so I'm quite glad to have gotten it recorded.
