Also, I'd like to share that drifting was well established and popular prior to 1987. It was birthed in the late 70s, you can see issues up to as early as 1982 in CARBOY magazines, the CARBOY SUPER section of the magazine showed off mailed in photographs and often times you'd see all sorts of wacky cars drifting on mountain passes and near the bay areas. It was the 80s CARBOY magazines that exploded drifting, but the 'Za Touge' videos really helped propel that momentum.
The tapes are not called 'Pluspy', they are called 'Za Touge PT 1, 2, and 3". They were produced by Pluspy Inc. Pluspy is also the creative made by Keiichi after the tapes released, various suspension and misc. components for the EP82, KP61, and AE86s (I think). On the full Pluspy stickers (the one besides the +P square) it says "PLUSPY +P. Rally Creative" or "Hill Climb Creative". Those stickers were used on a lot of Gymkhana cars in the 80s, you can look up "Do!Sports Gymkhana" (may have to type it in Japanese) to see many cars sporting the Pluspy brand. Keiichi's AE86 took direct inspiration from that style.
CARBOY and Ikaten were first debuted in 1989. It's hard to say which came first.
Manji drifting was birthed in 1991 from CARBOY's Manji AE86
"Most drifts begin when you enter a corner. At that time, there was no side drift yet, so I entered the corner, grasped the kick of the drift with shift lock and braking, controlled the behavior of the G and the car in the corner, and the drift was established. I think I was doing it.
But I've been thinking for myself all the time. Perhaps drift is different from the fact that you can drift because there are corners. Isn't the car in a drifting state even if there are no corners? It was that.
Most of the time, new things start with a sneak peek. By rethinking the sudden inspiration and fleshing it out with my own know-how and knowledge, I feel that a completely different way of running will be born."
I forgot his name, I think Naodori? I don't know the full name.
ROUGH WORLD fka ROUGH UNITY popularized the demon camber look in 1992's CARBOY once it reached the masses. The fat tires, tiny wheels, and big front camber.
If you'd like to know any more information, feel free to reply. I've been researching this for close to 10 years

Mornin! (or nighty-night, depends on your timezone) Great video for a second one. Pretty informative for such a short video, and thanks for putting your source in the description too, would be nicer if you had more and maybe links for the clips you've used but that's just my opinion, let's just see what the others think too.

Commenting through your videos here to help the algorithm
Comments apparently matter more than likes, so it would pay to plug the comments “tell me what your favourite is in the comments” etc

I don't understand how it can be described as anything besides legendary.
There aren't many car based anime out there. Either so you gotta respect it at least.

@@joshuafallet5690 unsure if i agree, but im not an anime fan. Im a Motorsport fan and thats where my love of the 86 has come from. The GT racing series and later gran turismo is what sparked my love for Japanese cars, personally.
Ive forced myself to watch episodes and i struggle to get past the cringe, just like the cringe you see in the Fast and furious franchises.
I do give the anime props for their attention to detail with the cars and locations, though!
Each to their own and just not legendary, its exaggerated and dramatised for little to know reason (for me).
No hate to those who love the anime! We're all brought together by the common love for the plucky Hachiroku
