How about coverage below the knee? Do they extend so that boot fits over them?

How well it protect from side impact?

The TLD 6400 knee braces are awesome but don't offer a ton of side protection since they have the support hinges that run down both sides. There are a couple knee guards that don't offer as much stability as these but do have some side protection.
