I stood up and waited for two hours so I could keep my spot in front of the stage at the Exit/Inn in Nashville to see Billy Joe and his son Eddie on guitar and another young feller on bass (I don't remember any drummer and don't think there was one) It was the best show I ever saw in my 71 years. Billy Joe was the most gifted writer I ever remember and his son Eddie was a genius on guitar and maybe my favorite of all time except for maybe JJ Cale who if you took his best 10 or 12 songs and put on one album would be a good many people's favorite greatest hits of all time.
Great Show, i first heard of Billy Joe Shaver through listening to Bobby Bare I think mid '60ths. To me he was one of the greatest true to life songwriters & performers ever lived next to Dillon, Kristofferson, Tom T Hall,. & Willie to name but a few. There is not many Country Artists who has never brushed with a Billy Joe Shaver composition & perhaps many a fantasy songwriters pen of today came through a real Billy Joe Shaver roots twist.
wow me too I didn't know he made an album. you any relation to waylon? If you are didn't Waylons wife Jesse have a daughter that cut hair? I'd love to get back in touch with her I havent had a good hair cut since I moved to Lavergne from Bellevue 15 yr ago. lol I pay good.
YOU GONNA LIVE FOREVER NOW BILLY JOE! R.I.P. Tell my pops howdy

It sounds like it was a phone interview. Relax
I LOVE YA TO DEATH BILLY JOE but yer killing me here when you reduce WAYLON to just an "influence". Waylon Rocked you into popularity! . . .
I like him a lot, I really like towns to. But towns music is a bit to depressing to steadily listen to.
