Never going to forget that event! Really am going to miss Knob Creek. Tons of fun to be there in person, and definitely cool to see my uncle on the firing line in the video.

Why is this the final shoot at Knob Creek?

@@cdismore3251 this was the final shoot because the owners of the range have been hosting it for around 50 years, and it was progressively getting more expensive and harder to manage as it got more popular, and they were progressively getting older, too, so they decided to put an end to the shoot. They are still keeping their regular range and gun store open for the foreseeable future, however.

Yeah it was. We got in line for the Huey ride the first day at 7am and the line was further than I liked. We stood in that line for 7 hours before it was our turn. I was standing in lines in the US Army Infantry and this was a long ass line, lol.

From what I gather, the landowner is getting old and doesn't want to put the time, effort and funding into the shoot any more, especially with quite seriously dwindling attendance numbers over the last few years, most likely due to COVID and the skyrocketing prices of ammunition. The range is staying open, just the bi/annual shoot is going to be stopped. One blog he wrote mentions that the annual profit of the business doesnt seem to have been effected much on the recent years the shoot hasnt been held. Simply, its no longer worth the time and effort for the profit it produces.

I heard the old guys want to retire and the young ones don't want to put in the work. They are going to miss the added income 2x a year from this event. I see it starting a comeback in a few years.

What a shame, but can fully understand.
Seeing this on RUclips few years ago for the first time I thought it was amazing.
Would have loved to have gone.

I went to this shoot a lot and went to this last shoot. I have a feeling they got a taste of rest during Covid and decided they were ready. It is a shame and loss to the local AND shooting community. I think Big Sandy is ending as well.
