I'm paddling around Mersea Island today, leave & return from Point Clear with 15 - 20 others. That way the tidal flow should be mostly in our favour. You asked for suggestions? Well first check the weather forecast & build-in a delay time as few trips go according to schedule. You took food & water, good. Dress for the worst just in case. Tell someone where & when your destination is & take a phone, you did, good. How on earth did a SOT kayak get water in it? You must fix that problem before returning to the water as sinking is not an option. Guys, you need to get some training, it's just not fair on the emergency services to go out so ill prepared. At one point one of you is even using his paddle upside down! I enjoyed the video but you survived by luck. Go on a course and enjoy your kayaking more.
Appreciate the concern - I think that clip of Micha paddling upside down is where I had asked him to 'pretend' to paddle for some footage.
