OK the white wire is neutral it is not ground let me repeat that it is not ground. Neutral wire carries the circuit back to the original power source. So please do not ground your neutral wire to a metal conduit box if you have conduit and don’t think that you can simply tie that to any ground wire that you run across and think it’ll be ok.
