Lucie, you literally brought this 50 year old Texas farm girl to tears. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your love letter. And thank you for reminding us that there is always beauty. Even when we might not be able to see it initially.
Yes!!!!!!!! @auntrowdy7392, I completely agree! Thank you both!!!

After 40 years of living in Manhattan we moved to Florida 2 years ago. This video made me weep. I'm glad we moved south, for many reasons, but every time I see a glimpse ofNYC in a TV show or movie, a piece of my heart hurts for a long time. I will never stop loving NYC.
This made me so emotional bc I’m also moving out of the city after living here for 5 years to go back to where I grew up. It was always my dream to live here and now it’s time for my next dream. I love the idea that nyc will always be waiting for me, when I come visit. Thank you for sharing 💜
I lived a half hour train ride from NYC in the early 2000's for one year as an Au Pair. Travelled into this wonderous city almost every weekend I had free. I made lifelong friends there and so miss it. I have always had a fascination with NYC for as long as I can remember, the Flat Iron building my favourite. I know it has changed since I was there, how I wish i could go back with my family now, to show them how great it really is. I always smile when New York is in films, spots I visited. Your video made me feel like home and I'm glad you can visit so easily. Enjoy your new home. Love from Australia :)
I'm from Oregon, we don't have anything close to an NYC. Having visited The City many times in my life...I get it. I'm excited for your new journey and I can't wait to see you all in the place where Milo (and siblings?) will grow up. Congratulations to you and your family and thank you for bringing me along with you. Nicely done dearest Lucy. Nicely done.
Oh my gosh, Lucie! What a beautiful and authentic expression of gratitude, love, and affection for the Big Apple! Such a wonderful coming-of-age story as well! Your eloquent letter really resonated with me... Always a New Yorker (grew up in another borough), I moved into the city at 23 where I lived in Midtown East for 2 years (East 46th Street) (in a lovely little studio apartment with a walk-in closet and a claw-foot bathtub for only $788/month! It was the deal of a lifetime! 😂), then moved to the UES (East 80th Street) where I lived in another beautiful apartment for 12 years! My reasons for leaving NYC were starkly different from yours, yet I feel all those same feelings you articulated in your love letter! Really tugged at my heartstrings!🥰 You can always go back and show Milo all of your neighborhoods and re-live the memories while creating new ones. I recently re-traced the footsteps of the many lives I lived there...so much fun! I've been following your channels for years, and I must say... this is your best, most profound content yet! 💖🌟
Thank you for this wonderful excerpt! My family immigrated to NYC in 1969 when I was 7. I grew up in Astoria but since I was 13 I never missed a day without being in NYC. You brought such wonderful memories to my mind as I cried. My husband retired and we sold our house and moved to Long Island because we wanted the best of both worlds! I still work in the city and my train commute is an hour and a half. After the hustle and bustle of the city with all its wonders, I can come home for peace and quiet until I long for NYC all over again NYC gave us opportunities that we would never have imagined back in our native country back in the 60's. Thanks again and hope your so grows up to be a beautiful and eloquent soul just like his mom!
Aw Lucie, This made me so sad. I’m stuck at home sick, and have never lived in New York City, but this resonated with me in the way that it reminded me of seeing my grandma’s city for the last time since she passed away. This was so bittersweet.
I Started watching your videos when you were at Refinery29 & loved that you lived in NYC. The way you talked about the city is how I felt when I visited NYC as a little girl. Being a girl from the Midwest I was able to vicariously live through your videos & it made we feel like I was there too. Now graduating next spring & officially starting the “real world,” I am planning on moving to the city in the next two years. The way you describe NYC makes me so excited to experience all the city has to offer! Wishing you the best on your next journey.
I can relate to this so much! I love NY and for some reason have been really drawn to coming back every time I leave! There is no other place like it: I think it is something only New Yorkers and NYC lovers can relate to: everyone says its too crowded and hectic but we feel like NYC is inspirational and the city, its people and culture fills a hole in our hearts.
Why did this make me cry?? Once I read the title, I already knew it would be good. It sounded promising but i had no idea i would literally shed tears!! Thank you for your content, Lucie and although I've never lived in NYC (but dreamt of it my entire life), I felt all the feels
Thank you for this!! I feel that whenever someone is “done” with NY they move out saying how much they hated it (I believe is their way to cope) thank you for still loving NY.
I moved out of the city 2 months ago, after 5.5 years in the city, I am now sobbing at this letter. So perfectly encapsulates how I feel about my time in the city, my reasons for wanting to move away and yet the yearning for never having left. Thank you for creating this beautiful love letter and for sharing it for fellow new yorkers at heart ❤
What a great tribute to NYC, Lucy!!! You’re lucky to have spent 10 years in the city that everyone who has ever visited wishes they lived in and for those who still haven’t visited, they don’t know yet, that they’ll want to live in, too. Your new home in the “Burbs” is going to be just as great….. just wait and see. Your life with Michael will only get richer. Milo will thrive in his new home and you’re still so close that you’ll be able to visit NYC, whenever you want to. Thanks for sharing your fabulous city with your viewers. Sending you all the love and happiness that you and your family can handle. Go forward and enjoy the exciting changes ahead of you. Congratulations!!! 😍
God, you're good! I've never been to NY, hell, I've never been to the US, but it's on my list for years. Someday I'll get it. All this love for a city. This video is amazing. You're great at what you do. Love from Romania! Anca ❤
I’ve only been to NY once, I was very captivated. I’ve always told myself I need to go back. Your letter made me emotional. Thank you for sharing 🤍 wishing you all the best in your new environment. Love you
So so sweet, thank you for sharing ❤️ This city is truly so special and encompassing. I feel so lucky to be here. You'll always have NYC! Best wishes on your next journey 🥳
I moved away from the city in mid-December and this video resonated with all the feelings I've been experiencing as my fiance and I packed and moved to Virginia and in the months that have passed since. Whenever I feel like I miss the city so incredibly much, I remind myself how easy it is to come back because the city and my friends will always be there.
Crying. Lucie, thank you for this! I lived in NYC in 2017 and had a horrible year personally, so I left. I came back for a visit in 2021 and vowed to give it a shot again and I am back and I never want to leave. Your videos and creative work where the city was a main character were a great help. I’ll always be grateful. Congratulations on your new adventure! You’re always welcome here. ❤️🗽
I remember living there for a brief few months and got lost a few times in Queens and BK Bridge. My heart sunk and broke, I was in so much tears when we left Manhattan to move down to Baltimore. This hits home! I hope you enjoy your new life in the suburbs 🎉
I been visiting NYC for over 4 decades now lived there as a young man in my late 1990s in the Chelsea Manhattan area. It's has always amazed me how today's technology has changed NYC vs being there in the 1980s and 1990s.
Start spreading the news… I’m leaving today. If you can make it there you’ll make it anywhere. It’s up to you… this video is A #1, king of the hill, top of the heap. ❤
Lucie, this video is so beautiful! I'm finally moving to NYC in a couple months after dreaming about it my whole life and this letter is a great reminder to soak it all in. Thank you for sharing your story with the city that so many people call home.
This is how I feel about nyc, and sf/NorCal!! It’s so hard to leave, but I might move out for a bit. There’s just something that nyc, and sf/NorCal that fits so well!!
Watching this as a 16 yr old from Ireland who visited only once last year. My dream is to become an estate agent in NyC. Don’t know how that will happen but I will try my best, thank you for giving me even more motivation to chases my dream ❤
this is sweet - i also moved to new york in 2015 in the late summer and lived in manhattan briefly - though i've had a tumultuous time with the city, moving in and out of different places, my chapter with it isn't over yet but i imagine i'll feel similarly when it is
Not me crying in my morning coffee. This is absolutely beautifully done- the words, the sentiment, the lives you lived. Makes me miss my time there but on the similar path as you- feels okay to say “see you later” to this wonderful city. 💕
I never been to New York, but damn did this make me feel some sort of way. Your writing is so beautiful and your voice is very calming. Needless to say this brought tear to my eyes 🥹
I hope you are happy all time I like your video. Your videos were my guide in my youth. I am Turkish and müslim girl İ'm sorry English words if they are wrong.😅 Because all of them are loving and possible❤
Wow! This was so beautiful. I grew up in NYC and left when I was 20. It's been 17 years since I've lived there. Your video made me feel so nostalgic and grateful for my time there. Thank you for sharing your love letter.
This is how I felt when I moved from CA to Ut. I felt melancholy for leaving all the things I loved, but I was looking forward to all the new things I would provide for my son. He will always love the mountains that he grew up with, but he loves going to mama’s hometown to do all the she did at his age. Thank you for this video 💙
I am 26 and moved to NYC last year to get my MA at Columbia. I have lived in many cities and countries but NYC is the first place that I have truly been in love with and felt at home. The city is magic and this video really captured a feeling I haven't been able to put into words. You have such a beautiful family and I wish you all the best in your new home!
Sobbing with a smile on my face! Your letter made me think of how I’d feel if I left my beloved current city that has adopted me and given me so much, Vienna Austria. ❤ Love to you, Lucie!
I only lived in NY for three years, and always in Brooklyn. But I’m still crying at this. Oregon has family, quiet, and space for us, but I miss the frenzy of New York every day.
Beautiful. I felt like I could have written it - so relatable. I moved to NYC in 2015. Met my husband there who happens to be from my same hometown in Alabama. We moved back to the south but NYC has our heart. We miss it so much and can't wait to take our twins there to learn to love it as much as we do!
I feel like only NYC lovers will only understand how much this love letter means to us ❤
Lucie, you literally brought this 50 year old Texas farm girl to tears. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your love letter. And thank you for reminding us that there is always beauty. Even when we might not be able to see it initially.
Awww love this. Thank you so much for watching from across the country!!!

What an excellent way to close one door and open a new one❤😢

I got goosebumps watching this. It’s so pure and emotional ❤

Beautiful! Lucie captures the essence of New York almost as beautifully as Wong Kar Wai captured the essence of Hong Kong in his movies.

Wow this was beautiful, I’ve never cared for New York but you’ve changed my mind. So touching😭
So much love radiating from this piece, but I feel the ache and the heaviness, too. Transitions are beautiful, tragic, but necessary.
A wonderful farewell to the city! So much love that will never end ❤
