- I trimmed off the intro of Von Finnland bis zum Schwarzen Meer as it was just too loud.
In this video I take you on a tour of my 3D Tiger I project. It's a bit long winded but I just wanted to share what I've been up to. I know this is not a normal video for my channel, but it is called 3D Scale, and this is the first 3D video.
This is one super impressive piece of 3D modelling! I wish World of Tanks got to this level of detail and created as much variety in the various models of each tank type (ie. month to month and year to year). This must be the first step in bringing this gorgeous cat back to life... time to take it over the machine shop for a 1:1 scale version.
Vrrr vrrr vrrr vrrr vrrr on the mousewheel lol. It's a lot louder on Skype, trust me.
But this Tiger is amazing, and will be legendary in what you plan to do with it. I also thinkthe model itself would be great reference for model companies, most likely aftermarket accessories and stuff. You'll go awesome places with this :)
I hope so sir. Otherwise I just pissed away 6 months of work time.
That is pretty amazing. As a gamer i see the diffrences between this 3dmodel and the ones from games. Its beautiful. I love the idea with the changing model from month to month. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man, that video will get made. Not sure how long it will take but it will.
Looks pretty cool, massive amount of work has gone into this! 🎉🎉 If you are looking for areas to improve, I’m thinking a bit of metallic sheen in the corners of worn, chipped metallic parts would be the chefs kiss. 😘
Wow . . . Missed this gem of a video. I remember seeing you showing us bits of this in the past. I am so impressed with your work. What a resource you are building. I'm very excited to see where you take this. Wishing you a great new year in 2019 :)
Thanks a lot Russ. I worked pretty hard on it.
Wow, such passion!!! Fantastic job! I love the attention to detail! Adam, BRAVO!
That's a cool program that would be brilliant to experiment with your models before laying it down on your model and don't like how it came out!
Looks like a great model. I'm a Creo and Solidworks 3d modeler at my job. Can appreciate how much time you must have spent on this project. Very cool, really love it.
Thank you very much. I think other 3D people understand how much goes in to these things better than others. I really do think engineering style programs like Solidworks would have a more straight forward process to making them. But as I come from games 3DS Max is what I know.
Wow! An amazing project!
Looks amazing Adam, well done!
seriously cool! it is nice to see it in its almost full glory :) will be amazing to see what you get to do with it in the future.
danke Michi. I'm just glad to have something else to do for a while.
Excellent result Adam.
Thanks. It was quite a thing.
That's very cool.
This is really impressive Adam. Through hangouts and such, I have seen the progress of this and it was quite a process. Very cool.
Thank you sir.
Great looking 3D model. It’s about time someone tried to do a accurate digital file :)
Awesome work Adam! 👍👌👏😍
thank you sir.
this is an amazing 3d model!!!!!!
thanks
That's fantastic work Adam. So much so I want to build the vehicle. I have photos in every tiger book I have ;-). Just never paid attention to it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad to help. 6700 has the markings for this, but I don't think they mention to paint the square black.
Very nice looking model, well done.
thanks.
Very interesting demonstration Adam, I can see were by just watching this video that I'd find it handy, I can utilise your painting, weathering, texture and lighting, by transferring the achieved effect to a scale model, much more handy than a period photo at hand, this could sell well like a series of 3D books available on the market, having this movable on a screen in front of you certainly brings reference to life, accurate or not, a series of other subjects would be nice too, maybe a Stug III next Lol.......
That is superb. Now you have to do the inside ;) :O
I do have to say while Gaijin did a fair job with their Tiger I model in War Thunder, your model definitely blows everything anyone else has done so far out of the water :D
thanks very much. I actually mean to being up the War Thunder and World of Tanks models because you're right. They did a great job, but not as detailed as a modeler would. THe biggest give away on their models is the bow MG. They never get it right.
Adam can you make a version with the fiefel air filter? It will be awesome
NICE!
thanks
Fantastic work. Great choices - early running gear and gun, later turret, no feifels, a mid I guess. Would like to see in grey, white and plain dk yellow with no zimmerit and no sideskirts.
You could also redo some fundamentals - I always wondered if they lowered the height/width by a few inches how much weight that would have saved.
I wonder what a 3d print would come out like.
Ill build that.Brilliant Idea.Your own work is hard to love out loud.It deserves it though. And with the reference idea its usefull,a must, really in 2018.Its a foundation for more to come, now youve put the idea out for a database for enthusiasts, from scale to screen. The towing hook is perfect.I thought you couldnt do metal clasps?
i havent watched yet,got to ask,i just built 6252 and i bought an Afrika korp voyager set for it.I just used pe for Initial version.I have just bought RM 5010 mid.Out of parts in box(looks like every tiger sprue by ryefield is in box) The Question....could i build an early 131 type(saw her at Tigerfest 16) out of whats there,i have Afrika Korp exhaust shrouds in PE that were unused.I tried to work it out.Im willing to fit new hinges and front fender if needed.Sorry if im asking a stupid question. Now im going to grind some coffee and watch your work.
Looks very very nice Adam.
I do have a question however, how well can you model in Battle damage and weathering? And are you thinking of doing the interior???
Great question I meant to address. I have to model new pieces for anything that gets damaged. It's how they do damage in games as well. It'll be a huge pain in the ass. Side fenders, exhaust shrouds will all have to either be made just for the configuration or generic levels of damage.
Could you end up 3D printing this into a model yeh? You have to put that video up for us!
Adam found your website one day impressive I have a question in the Battle of the Bulge what German armor was present ? would appecarate some input I need to put some German against my M4 Sherman I have learned a lot from you about German armor stay the course Bruce
Primarily Panthers and some King Tigers. I do believe there was at least 1 Tiger I but it was a rarity there. Lots of Panzer IVs, Stugs and Jagdpanzer IVs. The US did face a few Sturmtigers as well. Hope that helps a little. The most famous vehicles on the German side I would say are the Panthers of Kampfgruppe Peiper chronicled in the book series Dual in the Mist.
Which software do you use to be able to keep the Light effect and still look around the model ?
That is Marmoset Toolbag 3. What you're seeing me turn on is screen space occlusion and Global Illumination. Standard stuff for pre rendered stuff for years, it's crazy to get GI in real time.
Great work, but it appears the road wheel configuration and type appear to be incorrect.
I removed the front wheels to show off the inner hubs that I modeled. The configuration I addressed in the video.
Also id wonder if you could use this for games it will be awesome!
This is a game model. And I plan to do all parts from tiger production. Just had to take a break on this.
@@AdamMann3D thanks. Great work by the way.
Do you have any tips for 3d modeling for games? I'm a programmer and would like to make models for games I want to make/making in ww2 era
Honestly, i've been modeling since the late 90s and I think it's much easier now than it's ever been if you have the inclination. Look in to whatever 3D package you want, I prefer 3DS Max of course. And there is a man named Tim Bergholtz that goes by the name Chamfer Zone on youtube. He's amazing and a great teacher. I use a lot of the same methods he does. So if you're interested the tutorials are right there. He sells some and has a few free ones. It's advanced AAA stuff.
Adam Mann Thanks for the reply and resources, I've been trying to be more active in the scale modeling community, so I might start making videos about figures, since im going to OSU in the fall and figures are the only thing I have space for
We have a home run... you knocked that one so far out of the park it will not be seen for a while
thanks Hendrik. I tried harder than I probably should have.
3:05 link to the photo your referencing too ?
I'm not sure I follow.
is your name degit22 on sketchfab? beceuse i found one tiger 1 that looks just like that one you have but without the camouflage and its called tiger 217
It is not, if you look at his models closely they have some major issues with proportion.
i cant rely find anything wrong with it except for like the driver and radio operators hatches. and to example the same wheel is missing at the sprocket wheel as your tank, the zimmerit is very alike.
but clicking back and forth between your tank and degit22's your right
I love it, it looks great! If you are looking for some photos of tigers from the SS.Pz.Abt. 101, I have uploaded a video on my channel including most of them. If you want any of the photos themselves i could mail them to you. That would be no problem.
keep up the great work!
Jan.
Thanks very much. I'll check out your video.
At the end of day, its just a picture. It's not a model.
I disagree. I spent months building the geometry in 3DS Max. I built it from nothing. Might I also point out that this is how kits are made before the toolings are created.
