caran d'ache even makes a plastic palette for neocolor pastels, it's a rough plastic like a sandpaper, you can rub the pastels on it a than use it like a watercolor from the pan and at the same time as you rotate the pastel you are sharpening them
after the use, you can clean the palette under clean water

I saw several encouraging comments about mixed media artworks and videos, if you choose to create classes, you might start with watercolor for starting or “under painting” layering color pencils or pastel pencils on top or next level! I'm more of a slap on colour and move on girl 😄 I am just a dabbler though and realism annoys me precisely because I don't have the patience to see it through. Abstract and junk journaling is more up my alley. I love watching your videos though. Your sat chats make me laugh every time. Lots is relatable. 😄🧡

Looking good! And painting birds is so much fun! I painted a hornbill a couple of days ago, but with oil pastels and color pencil. But watersoluble crayons are so much fun to use, too. I enjoy using them on their own, but mostly I love using them in combination with other media.
What's the deal with watersoluble oil pastels, btw? I have never tried those. Are they really soft and highly pigmented and blendable like oil pastels, or are they more like watersoluble wax crayons that are just shaped like an oil pastel?

    • @thefrugalcrafter

    Hey Lindsay,
Your watercolour course looks great, very tempting! A real promotion on your channel. I wish you the most success with it! Such a great idea...
Love the toucan too, looks like photo realism with the pan pastel background
QUESTION: Can you recommend a two holed hand held sharpener, with catcher from an online store, for the C D Neocolor 2's...Does yours have a brand name on it?
(We don't have Dollar Tree here, and our Target products may be different to the US too...and some of our cheaper stores just have rubbish, and it is way more than a dollar...)
Looking at the brass ones, no catcher, from M & R with German replaceable blades....4 styles, but I don't think they fit for sharpening my big fat Lyra pencils. I saw Harry's channel....use a single hole round one, and he used this for his Neocolor 2's and it was like "butter" he remarked...
I have the handheld one for many point shapes, the Kutsuwa Tgaal in black, with the dial on the side to change the angle, but it doesn't do large or wide holes, however prismacolors pencils are great in this. This is the top choice by color pencil artist channels for prismacolors and general pencils.
I have a dark grey prismacolor sharpener, the hinge broke off the top..
is an okay sharpener, but it could be better....I don't like the feel of it in my hand, and it isn't so smooth....I wouldn't recommend it.
So I know you prefer the big electric for most of your pencils....
I like the feel of the sharpener in my hand, as it feels special......but as for crayons and thick ones, well I am still searching. Sounds ridiculous right?
I have to trust online reviews...for particular sizes and viscosity, without things getting stuck or not fitting....I can't simply trust reviews that say for large Lyras as they could be giant Lyras, or wide pencils, as there are a few thickness sizes of Lyras!
I don't like plastic, if I can avoid it, and I now can see the use for a holder to save shavings from the Neocolor 2's... from this video of yours!
There is no sharpener for all occasions....!
Lol, you casually saying you bought this sharpener at the Dollar tree, as it if is a simple process....!
    In kindred spirit,
    Eliza

I didn't think too much about it. I think any school or office supply store sharpener with 2 holes will work. I'm not particular I guess but I hate the adjustable tgal. It went dull so fast and was no better for my prisma than any electric sharpener in my experience.

If you have two hole eyeliner sharpeners there, even the inexpensive ones I’ve found here in the US have German blades and are quite sharp. You might try one; here they are a fraction of the cost of art brand sharpeners.

Or should you just clean out the palette? Thanks for this great class!
