I noticed that the FLOPPOTRON does really well with 8 and 16 bit music.
Wonder if that could help make a conversion software to instantly convert any song just by bringing it down to 8 or 16 bit and then send each band wave of audio to the right... err... instrument.
Simple waves, basics fm and low quality dac with very limited channel amount :) pretty sure the 8 bit consoles use noise and square waves
@@mrgw98 The floppotron is basically a MIDI instrument. If you have a midi file, it can easilly be converted to the floppotron with minimal work. The big challenge is to actually simplify the music down to only a few like a lead one (scanner), bass (floppy) and clicks/drum (hds). The NES had the advantage of being already that simple. It had two voice channel and a noise source, for a total of 3 channels.

That's because step motors (except the most advanced, but this is not the case) produce square waves

I would loooooooove to hear the 'athletic theme' (from the levels where you're on the clouds?) from SMW - would be intense! And then out of curiosity on a different wave the theme from Jolly Roger Bay from SM64! (also an ABSOLUTE MUST would be kirby'd dream land!!!! Preferably to 10hr version :))))))

This music was made for this instrument. It fits too well. It's better here than in original chiptune.
Probably because the machines work in 8/16 bit and the music is the same.
Afaict he uses a tracker for his music so its a perfect translation from the original to the floppotron
