Mrs Afton loves her kids so much I think the reason she insults Micheal is probably bc she was able to watch him grow up other then her youngests so she seen how horrible he is when with his friends and seen how much he gets hurts So she is saying the stuff bc she's disappointed to see her eldest (the one who's supposed to be responsible) still getting hurt and looming worse by the minute She wants him to be better and not get hurt or hurt others but he's not so she is zhowing her disappointment and frustration but she still loves Michael (more then Wil) i am sure

William neglected them (mostly Liz) if you read the books. Liz was jealous of Charlie because Henry always showed care to Charlie even while working but William slapped Liz because she wanted to make him proud while he was working. And William does care about his kids, you’re right, but not that much at all. He just continuously manipulates and manipulates Liz to do what he wants but now that he didn’t need her he acted like she didn’t exist. Add-on(not related to your comment) - I hate how people act like William neglected Michael the most and Michael went through the worst while ignoring everything Elizabeth went through, and same with Crying Child. The worst William did was slap LIZ. Crying Child was TORMENTED and CRYING everyday all day, and nobody was there to make him feel better. Everyone was rude to him. His own BROTHER tormented him everyday and even killed him. All Michael went through was regret, and which he deserves. What did he even expect from putting a kid in a spring lock animatronic’s mouth, anyway??
