honestly ... when you watch an explain video its...not that complicated. Most of the complexity is cuz they throw a ton of word salad at you that...honestly... kinda unnecesary by the end of it. I can explain the story to you if you want
The complexity of the timeliness is just understanding the "everything is canon" stuff. Just cut out the non essential loops and it gets waaaaaay easier to understand
I mean once you get an understanding of how its world works it’s much easier to understand (I haven’t brushed up on blazblue lately but I nearly completely understand guilty gear)
I love the BlazBlue fighting series and I love roguelikes but somehow this still completely flew under my radar. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Skooch! ❤
Game was developed by a third party developer that seems to have acquired licensing rights halfway through development. If anyone is expecting to play this as a piece of the Blazblue series, be aware that it is completely unrelated to the Blazblue universe.
It is sorta related, though, sorta unrelated when you listen to the story. Like they make references to the characters and all that. Because the game is early access we do not know too well however how the connections will deepen
@@matmil5 It's a spin-off, definitely. Maybe an alternate timeline where the story is different. Since this franchise f*cks with timey-wimey dimension stuffs like it's yesterday's tuesday.
There are a few similarities like the particles in EE’s world that cover the surface, forcing people to live in a floating city. Which is similar to how seither covered the sruface in BB forcing people to live on the top of mountains. So maybe there’s something that they’ll work on to connect them
Noel is mostly a rushdown character, particularly in BBCF, at least in my experience. She focuses more on getting those setups and bringing in the damage through massive chaining combos so from the video it kind of looks like her power level being a bit lower was intentional. I haven't played this myself yet though so I could be wrong. I just thought I'd mention it haha
Yeah she is, her drive is a good example of it. They probably made her use her gun more cuz it's a completely different genre, and it's not like BB has a lot of ranged characters
Damn, that entropy effect reminds me of the Malaise effect from Dead Cells, which if it reaches 100% it will kill you, and any form of dmg can add to it, and the only thing that can reduce the % is your health pot.
I hope they add characters like Hazama and Azrael. Also if by some miracle Arcsys is checking out the comment section, please add the Entropy Effect character palettes to Central Fiction, that glow in the dark neon Hakumen is too fire to not have in more than one game.
After playing 30+ vampire survivor like roguelikes this one has definitely got my interest. I saw it and passed it up, but you did a very good job of selling it lol
I am honestly surprised that nobody before thought "Hey you know how cool the combat in fighting games is? Why dont we make a rougelike that plays like a fighting game", like once its out in the room like this, it seems like the most obvious idea yet no one cashed in on that golden goose
yeah this is exactly what I was looking for. I can't play pvp fighting games to save myself, but this lets me go all out against more than one target in an unbalanced environment
@@SireForsetiNot really mid development, since the devs already had the license. Same devs who made that crappy pay to win mobile beat em up, Revolution Reburning.
@@SireForseti this, and its not even a fighting game combo system. the games characters do at least somewhat draw from their originals in more ways than copy paste, but its a lot closer to a hack and slash than a fighting game, ie like a 2D version of devil may cry real shame absolutely none of the game other than the character movesets has anything to do with blazblue
fighting game combat is pretty cool but people that don't play them will be turned away by the execution barrier so making your cool roguelike play like them is a risky move
I never knew I needed something more than today. Holly hell. Now I need a Smash Melee roguelike where you just wavedash everywhere. Celeste with combat pls.
More BlazBlue is never a bad thing. Since the game is in early access at the moment I am holding out hope for more of my fav characters to make it over. So hopefully the game does well enough in sales for them to keep expanding. It definitely has a great foundation already in place so here is hoping more positive word of mouth will do this game good. So thank you Skooch for spreading the good word :D
This is amazing, i had no idea this was a thing. i am really sad that my two girls, Makoto and Bullet is not in. i know its in the early stages of the game but still, heres hoping
i remember i randomly picked up blazblue to play v 13 like two years ago and wished for a game like this, just so i can put enemies in a 20 second combo of blades from portals, this game is just soo close to perfect
Funny enough, one of the blazblue games had a single player mode, that was essentially a rogue like, it had you ascend through various fights, picking up randomized buffs along the way, with stronger buffs being unlocked for following runs
Blazblue and many other arc systems series are some of my favorite fighting games ever and to see them expanding into new genres is exciting and hope they continue to make more in the future
BlazBlue was the first fighting game I loved, and it's still my favorite, so I'm really looking forward to playing this when the original JP dub is out.
I kept seeing murmurings about this all over the internet and it was making me salivate like a dog staring at a bone, so I can't tell you how much I appreciate you making this video to go over the game. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go pick up my new BlazBlue obsession
I've been playing this a lot recently since I'm both a roguelike fan and a BlazBlue fan, I mostly use Kokonoe who's a pressure god with insane potentials, the final boss is hecking fun especially on advanced training mode that you unlock after a win.
Absolutely love Blazblue, Played plenty of fighters before but the first game in the BB series was the first fighter i put massive time into. Saw a trailer for this a long time ago and never thought we'd get it Glad i saw your video cause i am extremely excited for it.
There was a game a bit back from Neowiz called Blade Assault, pretty much this game with a few differences and more pixely(not pixel) art. Just as fun looking, but they had abandoned the game. So....happy to see this seems like it'd give the same feeling.
So basically the way the world gets harder is kinda like curse of the old gods. That rouge like we're you gain corruption each floor until you get game changing curses that make your run harder
Yes! This is what I wanted a soulsbourne style Rouge-like with fighting game combos. Something that feels as high-energy and slashy as DmC 2013. Now will this come to Switch? All we have is Bayonetta.
i soo hope that there will be all ost liek in fighting games where u can choose song like the ost is only flames or they could allow u to make ur own playlist before runs
Arc system works is that one studio who sniffed just... Too much crack and said "fuck it well make one of the most beloved fighting games based on dragon ball" then "fuck it lets name our protagonist after freddy mercury and the grappler after a russian boat" then "fuck it. Rougelike fighting game." And then many years later evolve that into a full game. Fyi arcsys kinda had rouglikes with their oldschool survival modes in ggxx and blazblue. Algrothim knows what's up, saw the game on steam and was like, mmmm do I want another side stroller on my libary? Papa Skooch has answered yes, yes I do
I looks fancy but I'm disappointed for two reason. Toshimichi Mori the creator of blazblue left ark systems and having played all the blazblue games I can tell that they reused all the old animation from the last fighting game and put new effects over them.
great video showcasing a really cool game that I definitely will try out, but people should know that this really is a BlazBlue game in name only, added as an IP to the original game late in development. It is not set in the world of BlazBlue, it does not connect to the narrative of the other games, and the characters could just as well have been swapped out for any other IP. STILL THOUGH, it looks dope as heck and has great reviews so thanks for bringing it to my attention with this video, I simply wanted to point that out 💖

I've been a colossal Blazblue fan since Calamity Trigger so seeing this makes me very happy. While I would prefer it to be a fighting game, Hades and Dead Cells have pulled me into the world of Roguelikes/lites so this game still sparks joy. Another issue with the combo chains, if you do try them, is super armor since you can possibly get hit out of them. That can also happen by there being multiple targets that are not all locked in the combo. Doesn't have to be much, for example enemy attack frequency, enemy health, player damage taken could all be adjustable values. Just my two cents on the game difficulty, but take it with a grain of salt since I love roguelikes and obsess over game mechanics to an unhealthy degree.
