Yoongi production skills with jin and jungkook heavenly vocal it's mind blowing
the "Dream" Chorus was also used in his song "snooze" with woosong if you haven't already noticed! Fits it perfectly... i feel like this song is like part 1 to Snooze.

I literally went "omg So Far Away!" when I heard Snooze the first time when DDAY was dropped
I love the original better but this version has a different charm. This song hits home to me when I was under pressure to earn big, dream big but I don't have such a dream. Then Suga's holiday greeting (I believe that was 2016 greetings) he said it's okay if you don't have a dream, just be happy. I just love how Suga and the rest of the boys know exactly what to say to comfort ARMY. 💜
Yeah the original is better , the guitar solo is so good and surans voice goes better with sugas !

This song can be interpreted as a prequel to Snooze. Because they share the "Dream, wherever you are, we will welcome you" lyric. Here, a young AgustD is saying the line to convince himself that his dream is worth running towards. In Snooze, veteran AgustD is speaking to ppl like young AgustD...and letting him know, you dont have to run all the time if you have a dream. Its ok to rest. And when you do run, run without fear..
I will indeed welcome you when you think you're crashing.
Imagine AgustD from 2023, creating a song with a mentor, and singing it to the AgustD who wrote and sang 'So Far Away'.
Its so poetic.
And though i love JinKook...i prefer Suran's version for how poignant it sounds.

i feel that the theme of "dream" is always somehow present in their work, remember their very first official song was also about dreams. "no more dream", as it is called, their debut song, was their attempt at asking the youth whats their dream and to stand up for it, it has pretty "dangerous" lyrics, dangerous in the sense that it was brave of them to question the korean culture, in a way, from the very beggining at that. the more you'll discover them, the more you'll understand why a lot of armys say that they were drawn to bts because of their powerful lyrics, me included.
both versions are amazing, i dont get why would we debate over that. the essence of the song is the same to me. they all did great 💜
as another person mentioned in the comments, i too feel like even tho we could percieve yoongi's lyrics as sad or even desperate at times (hopeless basically), theres always a sense of hope behind them. i love that. we can be sad, we can feel all these emotions, but we shouldnt give up, thats what i get from it 💜

I love this version and the original version with Suran. My only issue with this one is that they removed the phenomenal guitar from the end of this one, which is what initially made me fall in love with the song before I even read the Korean lyrics. It's also the guitar part from the end of the "First Love" performance you watched. 🙂I've noticed Yoongi likes big emotional guitar bits in his emotional songs, which I love love love.
"Tomorrow" is one of my favorite songs (I even have a tattoo representing it, I love it so much - along with a "Nevermind" tattoo) and the guitar part is - ooof *chefs kiss*. Also the choreo for "Tomorrow" is incredible. There's a dance practice from FESTA 2021 but the audio quality isn't great. There are several really good live performances. though.
I love how Yoongi and BTS repeat themes and lyrics and call back to previous songs to reinterpret them or give a new perspective on their previous music once they've matured. For example, the reuse of the lines from this song in "Snooze" makes me think that "So Far Away" is Yoongi going through a hard time himself, and talking to himself and trying to give himself hope. Reusing the lyrics in "Snooze" is older Yoongi, who has come through dark times, using those same words to comfort those who are coming up after him, because he needed to hear them and had no one to turn to but himself. Another lyric that he'll reuse multiple times in different ways is the "big house, big cars, and big rings" line. As you move through their discography and Yoongi's in particular you'll see him revisit this line from multiple perspectives as he gets older.
I highly recommend checking out the lyrics for every song on Doolset Bangtan - their translations are carefully researched and they often add context and notes about callbacks. There's actually another version, a live performance of only the hook, by all four vocalists. The addition Taehyung's and Jimin's voices is heavenly. Enjoy BTS More has a video where she mixes the live performance with the whole song.

A lot of Agust D's songs are so personal and autobiographical that they can't be cover by anyone but it makes me happy to imagine that many years from now when Yoongi is old some younger singer might choose to do a cover of So far Away. It a perfect song and both versions have their merits. 🎶💜🎵

Yoongi writes and composed sweeping epic emotions into his music. It’s almost ironic that many people who dive into BTS think he’s cold or stand offish. He’s so empathetic it must overwhelm him. This song is just perfect.

I fully agree with those who love the version with Jin and JK more, I think it is much more moving and heartbreaking. The two brothers make the text even more significant also because in the dark moments they were there to support and encourage him.

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Lory, did u hear the original So Far Away (Ft. SURAN)? There first mini albums were about Hopes and Dreams and they continue to reference these topics years later because they are still relevant. This is one of my fav songs from Suga. The feels are chef's kiss and so are the vocals. I think i agree with many army in saying that the original feels deeper. this version with jin and JK is far far far better that the original one
I prefer orginal version, I feel like it is more raw and real, bc when he made this song with Suran they did it together and were in the moment... And I love our boys, but here he didn't record his part again, vocal were recored and song was remixed, and it is great version, souds great, they fit great too obviously, and this was beautiful gift from Suga, bc this version was made for 1st anniversary of first mixtape... but I think original has something hitting and bc Suran voice is so sweet it gives contrast.
Also on Wings tour when he doing "First love" they end it with melody of "So far away" when he is going to stay by piano, that is why here at the end they sing "first love" (in orginal song that isn't there). So it made like nice circle bc they added words "first love"... So this is little "fun fact" 😉.
The original version with Suran is beautiful, but it doesn't have the ad libs that Jin and Jungkook add to the song. She doesn't doe JK's line of "First love", either. Because of these changes, I prefer this version, so I'm really glad it's the one that you reacted to. This is one of my favorite Agust D songs and I can listen to it on repeat for hours.

I love the Suran version. This version has a different kind of charm for sure, it feel so much softer. But I just LOVE the arrangement and production on the original with Suran.
I agree, hmm softer is good description, bc for me Suran version is more raw and hitting, and production too, but I didn't know how to call this version, but softer is great, I will remember.

I like this version but I don't really listen to it, so I'm do much more used to Suran and guitar that I needed to hear it.
It’s sad to see people come on here and argue about which version is better. This is a beautiful song and JK and Jin did an amazing and very emotional version. All the comments are kind of ruining it for me. It’s a shame. People could have easily just asked you to also listen to the other one and express that they love it, but to do it the way they are is sad.
ohh don't let it get you down, whoever sang first is left to decide because as we know, jk sang most of the Suga and bts demos first so it's questionable, right? I love both versions and Jin, jk the rest of the guys stood by and stand by difficult times behind him and provide support💜

I agree with others about liking original more. I love this one too, of course. Also Suran and Yoongi had a connection (at that time at least). After this song she reached out to him asking to produce song for her. She was in depression after battling cancer, they talked a lot (as far as I know) and I am sure Yoongi, an amazing person he is, tried to help her in his own way, maybe with advice, but also with a song. Her song produced by him gave him "Producer of the year" award and is really beautiful. Sadly after dealing with dating scandal they never worked together again. I hope they at least kept their good relationships, just away from everyone's eyes.
I have only heard the original version once, I think I like this one better, because of JK and Jin. Good reaction😊. One of my favorite Suga songs is Moonlight off of D-2. Upbeat tune. See you soon.💜
There are a lot of comments about the original song already. Just adding my 2 cents that the original with SURAN hits differently, harder. I love it. They revised the song for Jin & JK and threw in a First Love connection at the end of the song. They made it softer and more ballady. I wonder if it makes a difference as to your favorite depending on which version you hear first… I heard the original first so it always pulls me. Yoongi picks the best people to collab with. I really can’t find any of his collabs that I dislike.
