Such a great resource! I think back to the early 90's when we had to get quads shot photographically onto mylar. Never failed, every project we worked on was in the corner of four maps and one of them would be from 1939-1953 and the rest were from 1988. Uphill both ways, and we liked it!
Thank you John and Esri. Truly love your inspirational videos. I tune in for the knowledge. The comedy is a bonus! Cheers and hooroo for now. All the way from Newcastle NSW Australia mate.
That's a great app! Having that as an available Instant App for customisation in AGOL would be super useful - in my org so many people struggle to search for maps and data (for various reasons)
Thank you very much for to super cool App! I have one suggestion/request (or maybe this topic is for a separate video) but, it would be nice if along with the GeoTiff there was the ability to download a "heightmap" (i.e. b/w png) for use in Blender > displacement. Been searching a while to find a good method to convert the GeoTiff to a heightmap... unsuccessfully.
yes, this is a collection of topo maps from the US Geological Survey. other countries have topo collections too, and i hope people use the github source to spin off variants.

Thank for always being creative and practical at the same time! Is it possible to have the map creation info added to the animation?
@@gwenwang8920 the name and year are included and you can add custom text. But that’s all so far.

Ha! I live in Richmond. My town got on a JN map!!!
Cool app!
go RICHMOND!
It would be great if the animation would allow two tiles to show at the same time! The city I'm interested in is split up into small tiles

Only in the US 😞
