Ahhh man, I was at this one! I was backpacking at the time and arrived in Oz in April 95: one of my best 'claim to fames' was that I was at the last GP in Adelaide and the first GP in Melbourne (actually ended up at 2 GP's in Melbourne, as the company I got a job with got my visa extended, so stayed in Oz for 20 months!). Damn, this is mad.... I cannot believe this was nearly 29 years ago...... where the hell did it all go???? (Oh, and I'm now 52, just in case anyone was wondering!! 🤣🤣)

Hakkinen was dying before intensive care specialists at the scene did a tracheotomy to allow him to breathe, as the base of his skull had been crushed; at the hospital, Mika received a new Australian medical technique that kept oxygen flowing to the brain after a significant head injury; this allowed him to fully recuperate.

    • @-BuddyGuy
      @-BuddyGuy 11 дней назад +2

Yes they called it a brain pump and when they pumped the gas through his brain it allowed his brain cells to recuperate and eventually begin talking to each other and when they did the first thing the brain cells realised as a collective (or brain if you will) was that brain pumps are a good idea and if you don't use one at the appropriate moment you could wind up brainless. Now Hakkinen and his brain live a full life together and the only sign anything medical was ever done are two small in/out ports on his skull, some pipework, and a brain inspector that follows him around everywhere.

THE former fiancee of David Coulthard last night spoke of her split with the Scottish Formula One driver.
Speaking from the Monaco apartment she shared with Coulthard, Andrea Murray, 23, said: ''I do know that David is with someone else now.''
Miss Murray, who was speaking as her former fiance failed to finish at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, said: ''I am going to throw myself into my photographic career, which is starting to take off.''
She declined to say why she was in the Monaco apartment, when she had been reported to be in Britain with friends.
It will only fuel rumours which abound on the Formula One circuit that her split from the 26-year-old Scot, was far from amicable.

Damon Hill was the only driver of that time to put pressure on Schumacher. Every time Damon was pushing him,Schumacher made a mistake. And! Yes after suffering that pressure he crashed and slewed his car into Damon.Without that Damon would have been two times world Champion. I still cannot understand till this day,why Damon didn’t just ease off and let Schumacher come to a stop! And then just drive round him. He says in his book that basically he didn’t have time to react in that way. Rubbish! Nigel Mansell would have backed off and let Schumacher come to a stop. And then won the Championship. Damon is an old school Gentleman. Williams treated him and Nigel like S@#£. Prost! Senna! Thought it was the way to an easy Championship. For Prost it was. Williams were “THE” team at that time. Where are they now ?
Damon should have at the very least been three times Champion. But Williams with their bizarre thinking, ruined that. Well let’s just say Bloody Patrick Head, and that says it all! This Ar@#£& thought that every one of their Drivers should win every race. If they didn’t they were out. What an A@#£&#*
    Great Doc by Clive James.

4:30 I love Clive, but he didn't seem to have actually watched the season as the two shunts of Schumacher and Hill in Hockeheim and Monza had been quite clearly Damon's fault. In fact in 1995 he had been quite mediocre.

F1 was way cheaper in those days, just 50 million per year for the top teams, the cars were better, sounded better and more action.
Where did we go wrong since then? Oh yes I remember, the stupid hybrid shit!!!
