No matter how much I think about it, I still cant believe that gen 5 has grown 12 years old now. This region was my one-way trip to Pokémon and I don't regret crossing that line. I still remember when I watched the anime for the first time and saw my boy Oshawott, I knew I would love this region, and I was true. When I chose Oshawott, I named it Kyle after myself because I wanted to, and he's single-handedly my best friend for life now. I would still be a boring and uninteresting guy if Pokémon didn't come to my life at all, and I still love this region to this day and its music.

One factor that was hard to account for factor was just that all us gen 3 kids were "getting too old." So many people started in the GBA era and fizzled out by the end of the DS era since we were in middle/high school. But then XY came out at a good time to jump back in and embrace what you like. I think if BW released in like 2008 it would have been a huge hit. Maybe not though, who knows.

I get nostalgic tears in my heart every time I hear Dragonspiral Towers theme, tears that remind me that I will never be able to play Pokémon Black for the first time ever again. Pokémon black was my last “childhood” game before I took a break from the series. During Covid I played it again and then played black 2, and together they are the best of the whole series. Thanks for this
It was my last "childhood" game as well, as it came out when I was 17. I played Black 2 and XY when they came out too, but I hardly remembered anything from either of them. Black stood out so much because there was so much unique about it at the time, from the NPC dialogue being richer than I remember previous titles' being and often straight up philosophical, to the seasons changing the music slightly, to each Pokemon being fully animated for the first time, and to just how good the overarching story was. One day I'll replay all three of those games, I'm sure I would appreciate them even more now with a much more mature lens.

It was Christmas Eve of 2012 when I got a 3DS as my present, and a copy of White with it. I hadn't been so immersed in a game in a long while, just taking in Unova and becoming invested in the character arcs of your friends along the way, all while being imposed upon by N at every critical moment. I had watched the show and movies, I'd watched other people play the older games, but I wouldn't have called myself a Pokemon fan - and yet here I was, completely sucked into this world. The decision for B/W's main story to include only Unova Pokemon tied me in so much more, as to a newcomer to the games, it really did give me this feeling of being the new kid, just making my way through. I didn't expect to type all this, and it doesn't mean much, but hearing Unwavering Heart right away just made all the memories of that first experience return. Of my friends so excited that they could finally play Pokemon with me that they showered me with eggs or regularly asked to battle my team even though it was an unoptimized mess of a story team. It was something only to be experienced once, remembering how hard it hit me as credits rolled with N saying his goodbyes. It sucks that gen 5 got such a negative reception for its time, because the Unova games have gone down as my favorite Pokemon games, and above that, some of my favorite games just in general.
I always thought Village Bridge was beautiful because it was people who were apart from each other and could not see each other coming together to make one beautiful song. First time I heard the song put together after the side quest of talking to all of the musical people in the town, the outcome gave me goosebumps. It pays sometimes to be a completionist lol

Until last week my last pokemon game was platinum in 2009. I played all the generations and my first game was Yellow. Last week I started playing Black 2 and it was a very good surprise. I am happy that after so much time I was still able to play a game with the same enthusiasm as I played as a kid. It was a good trip to the past when we didn't have the adulthood everyday stress

Listening to this makes me so happy, but also sad. Pokemon has always been a special series to me that has helped me through so much, but Black and White in particular, as well as Black 2 and White 2 were always the closest to my heart. It’s sad to remember just how long ago those memories were and not being able to experience them anymore

My journey started with Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and it reached it's peak with Black 2, I will never forget opening that game for the first time and being able to experience it freshly, I played it to death with teo of my brothers (one had white, one had white 2) unfortunately times aren't the same and those memories can't be relived, as much as I want to relive them. Thank you Game Freak for making a core part of my childhood.

Pokemon peaked with this one. I started with saphire and loved it, I was disapointed with both leaf green and diamond because I felt they were too slow and fell in love with heart gold. Black 1 and 2 were so good I actually couldn't belive it. The gameplay, graphics, story, animations are as good as it gets. x&y Ruined the series.

Pokemon peaked with this one. I started with saphire and loved it, I was disapointed with both leaf green and diamond because I felt they were too slow and fell in love with heart gold. Black 1 and 2 were so good I actually couldn't belive it. The gameplay, graphics, story, animations are as good as it gets. x&y Ruined the series.
