I'm pretty sure knight randomly on the back rank is the high elo equivalent of the bishop in the corner you forgot about that ultimately stops your checkmate
On a day when I was wondering why I even attempt to get better at chess, your video made me laugh and helped me realize I wasn’t alone. I feel a bit better. Thank you.
heartbreaking! but statistically that kind of blunder, even at your very high level, I think is just inevitable! chess is a game of nerves and mindset too, don't beat yourself up too hard! every mistake you make will make you more careful and you'll just get better in the future! and as you said, OTB adds such a thick layer of psychological gameplay, it's just not optimal conditions for thinking properly. and crying's good too, I think, nothing to be ashamed of either.
Legend honestly posting this. So refreshing to know even players of your calibre hang strong pieces so thank you. Fuck it, get up again and get on it😎😎😎
I have a question. I know that if you’d asked yourself the question “is it safe?” you’d have seen this obvious tactic right away. Practically speaking, should we in fact be asking that question nearly every move during tournaments? Or no? Planning to play in a few big ones this year so I’m trying to get myself ready…
Idk if that helps but I felt that blunder so much, especially with people watching its fucking emberassing and sometimes I have these moments where I'm winning or rather trying to prove my opponent wrong and then I'm the one who gets wrongproven and it sucks. Occasionally I wanna cry as well and I'm a guy actually in one game I think I even cried (afterwards in the hotel room). Guess we are just psychologically weak af lol
"At least there was still time for some fun stuff. I think I went up to my room and started crying." Those combination of sentences sound really weird, lol. I think, I can top that game in terms of incompetence. Last summer I had a game against a player who was 200 points higher rated. I had a winning position after 12 moves. Found a nice 5 move combination to win his queen for two minor pieces. I played a really great game without any mistakes. In a position where I had already forced mate in 13, it happened. I saw the winnig move (obviously not the mate in 13) and then I wanted to make it extra special. I found the only move on the board, that undefends a certain square and run into a fork, losing my queen. You're not alone, lol. Use the anger to motivate yourself to study harder. Or start drinking and forget about it XD. Just don't do it again :)
"he has learned the art of taiditsu and knows how to get into your head" - gah!! Forgot the band and is a kiwi band so you don't know it either???? Edit: um yes knights are tricky basturds.... But Eric Rosen lost by back rank checkmate in 15moves so......
Doesn’t really make me feel better because now I have to remember at every move to check if there’s a knight on c8.
It was unfair of your opponent to team-up with the voices inside your head.
Yea they already got things covered
@@zefcatt Should've brought an arbiter over
I’m afraid this didn’t make me feel better about my chess, but I felt your pain.
Super underrated channel!
thanks tee hee

no problem :) glad I could help!
like if you agree
The shame is understood, you and thousands of 2600+ rated players have missed that tactic and worst

I never play e5 with the sicillian.
Your failure is but a bandaid over the gushing arterial wound that is my self-loathing (when it comes to chess).
this gave me quite the giggle

I think crying is better than holding it in idk

Gotta mix Mario kart with chess somehow, right?

The worst chess player? Maybe but certainly one of the coolest human beings on the chess tubes.
two things can be true at once!
