Glad you like the first aid kit! I am an instrument tech in surgery and that's how and why I have things such as suture and hemostatic dressing. I am fortunate my doctor agreed to give me a small supply of vicodin. I came across a hiker once that snapped his ACL. His friends were arriving with help but he didn't have pain medication. I had an ACE wrap and narcs, so, I did what I could.

I see.. Totally makes sense now why you have what you have. Have you ever thought of taking a wilderness EMT class? Great job with the hiker!! Sometimes the best thing you can do to help is just stay with someone and keep them calm until help arrives.

Good call on the Cipro and painkillers next time I'm going to ask my doctor about getting those prescriptions before trips.

New sub here and going through your videos. Love them all so far! As an EMT, I am impressed with your first aid kit!! I carry way too much first aid supplies into the field but that is who I am. My first aid kit is a "small" bag that attaches to my main pack.
I also have a lightweight 5w HAM radio I carry and pre program with local frequencies including the forest service park ranger if possible.
You may want to add some gloves in there. You never know if you're going to come across a hurt hiker and you need to protect yourself.

Ah yes 2011 was a big snow year. I ran into some PCTers in June of 2011 around Gilmore hiking in tennis shoes in the snow. They had somehow made it through the high Sierra . You know fishing can be really good at Heather and Gilmore. I love that area. Not sure you are counter balancing correctly. The Yosemite and JMT bears are smart enough to go after the tied off end. Just an fyi. Great tips on cordage and your 1st aid kit. I'm a fan of prescription strength Naproxen for my old joints.

I had watched these DW videos awhile back and rewatched yesterday. I then watched As It Happens: PCT ruclips.net/video/LIvyuazEoaw/видео.html and recognized your turtle-toting friend at 1:17:15. (mostly I recognized the turtle!). Small world.
