The very first time I ever saw Tahoe from above was the first time I flew my hang glider at Slide Mountain on the east side. I got about 3000 feet above and was in awe at the physical size of the lake. I spent my teen years growing up in Markleeville, CA. in Alpine County. Went to school in Gardnerville because it was the closest school at the time. And we did NOT have snow days. Our little school bus was 4wd.
What great views from the top !! Awsome terrain but those rocks have got to be rough on the feet by the end of the day ?? Do you feel the need for waterproof hiking shoes or boots being that your journeys are in rain and or snow ?? Have you ever considered a light weight umbrella as I've recently heard some carry ?
waterproof or resistant is very important to consider for the terrain and time of year. And length of journey since you never know if the weather will change. My backpacking footwear is usually always at least resistant. On the JMT my boots were waterproof and I am forever grateful! And in fact, that was the first time I considered the umbrella idea. It would have been wonderful. A week of rain is not uncommon and finding a thick tree to huddle under to make food was tough. Yes, I would consider the umbrella and if I had known what was going to happen I would have cherished it.
+LandmarkAdventures I've planned to do only 10-15 a day, sometimes less, should take me a few months (with a few days rest here and there) I really want to enjoy my time. quit my job, put my crap into storage, doing a few other hikes (and Yosemite:) first.
Hello once again my hiking friend, you're doing a great job of filming. Thank you. 🤗
That's crazy you got attacked by mosquitos at gilmore. They destroyed me at susie but up at Gilmores elevation I didn't have a problem. Sweet trek!
i plan on hiking up Mt Tallac when I return to Tahoe either early this fall or in the summer.

so you should just put your life on hold and do 800 miles of the pct with me from Kennedy Meadows to Shasta, June 10th!
That sounds like a perfect stretch! How long are you going for? Tempting for me, but like, ya know, life
