    I think the Pirc is one of the most underrated openings for Black. It allows so much flexibility for Black.

    The Czech Pirc is great. It really is easy to play and get out of the opening without getting crushed. Most opponents had no idea what I was doing, expecting a standard PIRC.
    Also the St Louis chess club lecture by GM Akobian is awesome. I highly recommend anyone to watch it.

      Yessir! And I second your statement on GM Akobian's club lecture! Very instructive and helpful.

    Imagine being up a piece against Kasparov and not fainting, but then beating him. Kasparov seems like a more intimidating person than say Magnus. Enjoyed this game! Thanks, Solomon.

      Totally Alan! Ya Kasparov was feared, and he was intense. But, the German GM held it together and finished it out nicely! Thanks Alan.

    Morning Solomon. Hippo for your teaching series please. Czech Pirc all very well, but not as flexible as the regular Pirc notwithstanding this clip. Bring the Hippo out from the marsh - deceptively sleepy, then hits you, with tactics galore. Love it when I win with the Hippo, but lots of margin for error, so would appreciate a series on this.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  2 года назад

      Hey! I hope you are well today. Are you wanting a series on the Pirc Defense or the Hippopotamus Defense? Right now, I have both a Pirc and Hippo playlist if you go to playlist on my RUclips channel. Trying to grow both of these, for the regular Pirc Defense I will be looking to make a Bryne Variation video I think.

    11:14---Wow. It's moves like ...h3 which offers Black's Q but sets up a smothered mate if the Lady is taken that fosters such fascination with this amazing game. Simply marvelous.

    For those that don't know you can also play the Czech Pirc as white. Your advice is very true, of my Czech Pirc games that I've won I see that the more I harras or threaten with my moves, the more my opponent ends up with uncordinated weak pieces with combinations popping up for me magically.

      Yessir! Play Nf3 along with d3 and c3 and you're in business!

      Hey! Glad you've been enjoying the videos! The Pirc is great. NM Robert Ramirez has some great videos too, and even just going to chess.com and/or lichess databases can be super helpful too in order to see what lines and popular and what moves perform well, even if rare.

    Truly an amazing game. Black seems like an unusually strong player, and I don't see any obvious blunders by Kasparov. I need to watch this a few more times. Thank you for this video, Solomon.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  2 года назад +1

      Hey Dennis! Ya black was a strong player... a GM from Germany! Ya Kasparov played pretty well, giving black a lot of opportunities to fumble but Frank Holzke put together one of the best games (if not the best) of his life!

    Hey Giant, can you please make a video about some openings that are good against Queen's gambit declined?
    I don't think it has been done before, and I think that it would be very useful (at least for me). Thank you for making amazing content, I wish you a nice day/night.

      The Czech Pirc is better for beginnners than the regular Pirc Defense, in my opinion! But at the end of the day it's all about what YOU like and want to play. One will always play better in a chess opening they are excited about.
