  • I picked up this lovely vintage clock-radio from a gentleman in York, Canada.
To do this 1970s radio justice, I should have done been wearing a 100% synthetic shirt, bell-bottom jeans and clogs while having Disco, Funk and Soul playing in the background. Please forgive me for attempting this video without the full 70s vibe.
In this video I examine the controls and internals of this radio and repair a small functional issue.
Another one of my famous neighbours appears in this video.

I purchased one if these unique clock radios about 10 years ago from a thrift store for the modest price of $12. It was advertised as a "his 'n hers" bedside clock radio in which the main unit would be placed on the night stand, and the connection cord is run under the bed for the other side so man an wife could share the music. My unit works flawlessly except for the stereo indicator light. I could replace the bulb, but due to rarity I don't want to risk damaging the internals to do so. Just recently one of these sold on EBay for $150. I do not plan on selling mine because I really enjoy it. Thanks for your video.

Thank you for the kind words, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. But as you saw it really isn’t a big deal to open it up and replace the stereo indicator. The only problem with these units is that there is no schematic diagram available for them. So if something serious goes wrong with the tuner, it might be very very difficult to troubleshoot it.

You're very welcome. I may replace the bulb later. I took mine apart to Deoxite the pots. Works so much better now. Blessings.

@tomc7631 Is yours also a flip clock like mine or is yours the LED clock version?

Hey, I’m a brain his subscriber. I tried to search your page under the “about“ section. I’m just curious what your background is and is this a hobby or I’m assuming you probably did this to for a living? Thanks!

First, thank you for subscribing. It tells me that my videos are on the right track. Since I’m relatively new to making RUclips videos I’m still learning and hopefully improving.
My background? Check out my video “The Story Behind Mr. Brown’s Basement”.
