- The Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in 1990 in San Francisco, becoming one of the most influential and controverse bands of the 90's. The bands' amazing story has been told in the wonderful documentary "Dig!" that still is one of the best movies about music. Anton Newcombe invited us to his new studio in Berlin to record the classic "Anemone".

Cardinal Sessions was founded in the summer of 2010. They challenge the classic music video and try to replace impersonal footage with immediate and emotional snapshots.
Bands from all over the world with their different genres present their songs reduced to the essence of the musical spectrum - only vocals and unplugged instruments. Due to the spontaneous live-aspect and the approach to record every song without any additional rehearsal, songs emerge that often sound significantly different to their album versions.
We film on locations that the musicians mostly choose by themselves: remote places, frequented streets, parks, woods, fields, bars; nothing is impossible. We have accomplished our goal if the location fits well to the background of the music we and the artists want to present. But our most important purpose is that there are no borders: we film everything that we like, no matter how popular, famous or also unknown a band might be. It is still important for us to support local talents and it will always stay part of our concept.
The Cardinal Sessions team can also be booked: for example to film short documentaries of album recordings, studio recordings or live concert moments that you want to capture.

Anton is a beautiful person, & he writes beautiful music...that's cool with me x
@@Michael_______ b
The greatest tambourine player the world has ever known.
Liam Gallagher?
So laconic oyeah
stone af hahaha
@@adsumabyss Imagine Joel & Liam playing maracas and tambourine on the same stage !
He looks so gone, it’s honestly kind of sad.
“Drenched in opiates and regret, I heard this song once and became besotted by it. It sounds like lost love, past lives, unforgiven mistakes and transgressions.” - Anthony Bourdain on the song "Anemone."
Perfect.
what else did he say
Thanks 🙏 for sharing that, I’m a fan of both Anthony(R.I.P) and BJM and hadn’t heard this before 👌
Just saw roadrunner and now I’m in love with this song
RIP. 100%
it will forever blow my mind how the tambourine guy can keep this rythm for minutes without fucking up once
truth
Joel is a Genius... Shaking the 16th for over 5 minutes ♥️🎶
Search of "Jackson do pandeiro"
@@emanuelsouza8579 that's dope! Thank you
He's definitely in The Zone
brian jonestown massacre formed in 1990.i know,i was there,it's my group.you can't believe wikipedia...i didn't create the page and a lot of it is incorrect.
+anton newcombe changed the info, thanks for sorting it out. keep music evil.
Who cares what Wikipedia says......we know who you are and that's why we love you.Waiting for your live in Athens on June
+anton newcombe can u tell us more about how you met the other guys? and your inspiration for forming the band?
All I have to say is thank you for showing Bouncing Babies by Teardrop Explodes on DeadTv .
Why is the great Anton Newcombe sitting in front of his computer correcting false allegations about his band on youtube? Everyone knows the internet is full of shit. Just keep em coming ;)
This song has fascinated me since the first time I heard it
The HeavyJets right!!!!!
Same with the peel sessions hide and seek...I could hear it forever and not get over it.
I've been listening to it every time I indulge in a few drinks. A truly majestic song
So true
Same man. It’s something else
Dan Allaire (drummer) is a fucking genious. Precise like a metronome, groovy like 1969.
the best drummer The ‘Massacre has ever had.
@@salemflowers4122 Haha still can't get over it. This guy doesn't need to break your ears to play hard
Yes indeed.
Real Boss.
A lot like Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones.
❤
This relaxes me like a rainstorm. I could just replay this over on repeat and sleep.
Or listening to the waves outside your window. I live on a busy thoroughfare and I pretend the cars’ passing by are the waves and this song the world.
This song is the background noise we all need. It’s soothing, catchy, and can literally be played on repeat all the time. Takes my mind away for sure.. think it’s the simplicity of it which does the trick.
I listened to this song while driving through some hills in my pickup this morning and it made me feel like a goddamn cowboy.
Yassssss, did the same while smoking a cowboy killer
Fuck yeah!!
Hey fellow name twin
🤣🤣🤣. Takes me to the 60s in the Bay Area when I was a kid with my pops at protest over the war and civil rights. It would have fit right in there. Rock On🤘🏾🤘
Southest continental europe hillbilly lights the spliff, guards the boarder, peace or death
The drums in this are phenomenal
fuck yeah
Truth.
Why he shakes and moves this much? No need. If he didn’t, it’d make it more groovy…
@@TheMrLBoogienah man he’s feeling the groove, giving it life. Being motionless and still would take the life out of it, it wouldn’t breath as well. Without his movement their would likely be less groove
lmao
These boys never miss a beat still get goosebumps
every single time, all the memories, all the heartache for what?
"You should be picking me up,
Instead you're dragging me down,
Now I'm missing you more (more),
Cause baby, you're not around"
One of my favorite pieces of music. Smoked a blunt this morning before listening. Magical.
hahahaha nice
Wow, I stumbled across this on Spotify and just instantly found myself tranced with the music. Came straight to RUclips to see if I could find any guitar covers/lessons and found this masterpiece. Lovely to see all of you people showing your stories of this band and your appreciation. Can’t wait to listen to more
Masterful, I nearly had an out-of-body experience listening to this performance.
The best live version of this track. Acoustics are spot on
Discovered this song while watching a documentary on Anthony Bordain. Was one of his favorite songs. In the documentary, one of Bordains friends called it heroin music.
Love the guitar work.
Dan Allaire is a fucking badass drummer.
that's what makes them so solid .. their rythm section is damn gold
My legs would give out within 30 seconds.
I must have been stoned
Mr. Tambourine Man, reminds me of Spectrum doing Walking With Jesus: ruclips.net/video/TqOp7FbMfkA/видео.html
Love how he really beats those drums.
A great song from one of my favourite bands. Hugely underrated in my view. I came across them in the late 90s and couldn't believe that a band with such a fantastic catalogue was not more widely recognised (whether that was the aim or not).
If you threw Neil Young down a flight of stairs every day for a month, he'd look like Anton Newcombe.
Lmfao
Half decent?
So it’s safe to say we’d see an improvement vs Old Neil???😅
LMAO 🤣
that is classic
I love the way that hollow body sounds. I'm sad I didn't discover you sooner. I heart radio played this and I was blown away by how good it was.
Such a bad ass song
“You should be bringing me up, instead your dragging me down”
Joel often looks like the gig is part of his community service.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nailed it.
It’s because he doesn’t get paid
@@larrypaul9376 damn, real talk tho
He’s thinking how the fuck he’s going to pay the bills and he goes back home
😂
0:52 dat face when you start feel the mushroom effect
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
LMFAO
My default face.
I can approve from personal experiences😂😂
best version I've heard. Anton does no wrong.
This comment aged well...
I LOVE these guys. Ultimate band...
fuck yeah that's awesome. How effortlessly they play together
one of my favorites bands ever !!!
Anemone was the first TBJM's song I've listened to, and since that day, this band became one of my favourites, because it's maybe the best band of this century
Saw then live in Auckland last year. Fantastic 3!!! hour show and loved it when they played this song.
Gutted I missed that!
It’s on repeat. There’s just an amazing vibe from it.
Only just found this.
Completely besotted ♥️🙏🏻💋
Can't believe Anton is still alive.
I know a guy who has smoked a pack of ciggerettes and gotten drunk everyday since he was around 14-15, living off a diet of energy drinks and cheap bakery food..the body can sometimes take godly amounts of abuse.
Jed Lehman Yeah, he straightened up a lot when he got married and had a child with her.
Long live Anton.
One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite bands :D Seeing this pop up in my subscriptions made me happy :D
the band is great the music not sold out belongs to all of us
The drums sound amazing. Great video.
There are occasional songs you hear that you wish you could have the talent to play with your friends in front of people you hate just to make them hate you more. This is one of those songs.
When was this recorded! Glad to see them doing this still and much older.
My love and discovery goes back when I saw the documentary DIG! Go watch that movie! Dandy's and Jonestown together.
Roof1975 Don't think they have ever really stopped. but you goes how it know live/write~live a bit more/write~live some more come back to writing and by grace & apptitude a lil wisdoms thrown in the mix along with the subtraction of an ego or egos plus or perhaps better technique and possibly maybe more sobriety not rest sobriety and rest are 2 very different things. Hypethetically speaking. Purse a Veer ants. BTW yer cover photo much mad love respect newtonesque. MERRY CHRISTMAS
Le meilleur groupe de rock...tout est cool chez eux...même quand il vire ses musiciens sur scène...j'ai tellement écouté ce titre...MERCI
could listen to this all day and night and then again and again until the end and will just keep on listening until we begin again
This is so good. It always gives me shivers, through me veins it goes, up and down my spine.
love how they all just know how good they are sounding, they just fuckin know it
music that music would listen to
hi Anton, I saw you at the airport shortly before christmas, I didn't want to disturb you but at the same time I wanted to thank you for your incredible music. I shook your hand, thank you, wished you a merry xmas and I felt happy.
Love this. They're coming to Dublin.
Always my favorite song.
I love this version .
Thank you !
All the best !
That dude on the drums is fucking killing it... Anton is a genius
psychedelic relic!
Keep doing what you're doing Anton... it's greatly appreciated!
Literally the best tambourine player in the world. The perfect heartbeat timing....
Great Band. Great Visionary. The best music..

Great song by one of the very best bands.I have been lucky enough to photograph one of their gigs. Wonderful from start to finish.
A joint and this music, nothing else
Superbe enregistrement studio, de grande qualité, d'un des titres phares du groupe. 😊

Love the sound of Anton's Vox Cheetah.
Dig was one of the first discussions about music I ever saw...love this band so much...
Kick and snare very tight. Awesome mix. Maybe I would've made the bass a little louder.
Gonna be seeing them on Wednesday in Glasgow!
Honestly a big one off my bucket list!
Love you Anton xx
Saw you Antoon N. at the Belly Up in San Diego with BJM about 6 months ago..What a frigging great Piece of musicianship ...Blown away..Thank You..

Come back to the uk, I need to experience this more than words can express, wow man……..perfection
Best live version of this song I’ve found. Drummer aces the vibe
This song is the personification of "Sonic Psychedelia".Absolutely INTOXICATING ! Going to see Anton and the Band in Asheville,NC May 9th 2022. It will be Glorious.🤙
I just heard this for the first time on S2 E9 of Chance, on Hulu. Great song, and great show.
Anton has a hell of a guitar collection, majority of his axes are worth upward of 4-5k
I think his popularity contributed heavily to that, like how airline nationals became super pricy after jack white's iconic one.
I love the subtle nuances between antons version and tess"s
I still love the BJM! And the doc of Dig!
This is.. this is... just AWESOME. Thank you for this
i meet anton in new jersey and i meet matt hollywood and anton was the nicest guy i was a giddy little kid n still treated me so nicely n matt was an ass long live anton
favorite band favorite song, nice!
la mejor banda del mundo, sin dudas¡¡¡¡¡¡
Trickydicky
Heard this a couple of days ago: BJM UK tour - Kentish Town O2 Forum - sell-out concert and very appreciative crowd singing and dancing along. Thanks for the 'selfie' Anton - it will be treasured! Song could be a troubled relationship 'anthem'.
Quite amazing how fantastic this is . .
how the fuck does joel keep that steady for 5 minutes straight
they've been playing the song for years and years with him on tambourine so probably he's quite good at it
you think hes even enjoying it..?
Probably mate, what does it even matter at all? Haha tambourines exist and so do tambourine players, err...
love this gem. I'm so stoked to hear what's next
Love the BJM...Anton is a great guy They all are!..just saw them at Brooklyn Steel.
Absolutely livid that I've only just come across this utter majesty
They deserved to have this tremendously cool song, like no other. BJM always stood real! It's one of those realest bands that you love and respect them as a personas as much as you love their music. They will do whatever the fuck they want, and nobody would stop them. Cause, they're not sellouts! And those who gives 0 fucks about money and fame, creates amazing things, creativity and self-expression only possible if you're free! Take the motion track that's playing in this video, for example. There are no similar tracks like this one, that's unique as fuck! And the fact how cool this song is makes you think about the person who created it, how did he felt, during this time of period. I love music the most, because it tells you the feelings of humans that is impossible to describe, and music is the only thing it can be expressed with. You can't find another BJM and I have so much respect for Anton, especially, and that's not the first time I'm saying that. I felt like I always knew I should find something which should fully fit in my soul, and I have finally found it, goddamn it!
Godamn it, I feel exactly the same! Love for your words
This band is shjt.
Goosebumps!
Keep Music Evil!
Still kicking ass!!!!
Heard this after "Fingertips" setting up my college senior art studio Fall 2020 and the rest is history...
Give it up for the human metronome!
Well said!
A masterpiece!
They are one of the greatest bands of my generation they just had bad luck with fighting between eachother And Anton Got to love his talented crazy ass pure genius not just with these boys but other artists and beyond gifted blessed from the ones above people said he was crazy no he just knew too much that happens when one has such a great gift from god and a splash of the times back then lots of mind opening substances do mix those together you get a amazingly mad genius who knows how to make amazing songs
