@@samhitapatil9601 actually.. people in South India also speak Hindi a lot.. we basically have hindi as a 2nd language in our school also ..( English is the first language btw) anyways, most of the schools have hindi also including their own state language.. for example, I'm a telugu girl in tamil nadu who is leaning hindi as a second language and is typing this in English sooo.... Ya we do speak Hindi in South India too

@@gsiya4023 and that's the thing, knowing two languages is not a very big thing for us while singing being far away. My own voice sounds so nasal when i try to sing in hindi but it's okay when i sing in English.

I think people don't realise that India is a big country. We have so many languages and dialects in those languages as well. And it's pretty normal to know more than two indian languages
It's because we don't compete that much with the outside world when it comes to art which expresses our culture and diversity. we mostly mind our own business but now armaan is gonna take indian music globally...I'm so happy.
I don't think we can speak for everyone.
As a South Indian, I can say I can understand a bit of Punjabi and Marathi but I can't say I know them.
But, if I practice a little bit, I think I will be able to pronounce them due to their slight (not al, some) similarities with Hindi but that's it.
I have not learned these languages though, so I will still have to look up some subtitles.
I think the same can be said for North Indians, if they come across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam , Kannada, etc.
They might sound very different but with a little practice, I think even North Indians can speak it but understanding them is a different thing altogether, which takes more time.
We as Indians would know the number of languages within our vicinity, from Hindi to Urdu to Telugu or others but not everyone knows the languages beyond their region unless they explore or get to meet the people from that region.
And I think that's an amazing thing about Armaan and singers like him.
Trying to be an Indian singer rather than just a Bollywood singer.
He might not speak Telugu or Tamil or understand it as a local person, but he sings it very well and that just comes off with a good learning skillset as he says.
And perhaps, since we are Indians, even if we come across different state languages, we might be able to get it based on the similarities we find in them.
Although I agree that people don't realize that there are so many languages in India, I don't completely agree that it's pretty normal to know more than two Indian Languages.
As a South Indian, I know only Tamil and no other "Indian Languages" but I do speak Spanish, French, English and a little bit of Korean and Chinese. So, I think it's basically our preference. Plus a lot of people don't actually get access to even learn more than one language which is their mother tongue.
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't even know was Armaan was until Eric Nam.. dear Indians, please don't hate...

As a Northeast Indian, I would love to listen to him sing in one of any tribal language. That kind of representation would be ground breaking. Especially in India .
actually I would love that too, I hope Indian state can support Indian languages there's a book called English medium myth that explains how this can be done taking notes from E.U. , infact there is an assamese rapper called kul deep who has like real pop and great raps in assamese.

The title is a bit misleading. Armaan sings Not in Indian dialects but in entirely different Indian languages. They are separate languages with their own script, literature and all. These then further have their own dialects 😅

Fun fact: There are around or more than 21 officially spoken languages in India and there are more than 1000+ dialects spoken around India. Infact an article stated that there are around 121 languages in India and more than 19,500 dialects xD One of the major reasons why India is indeed a very unique and beautiful country.. And people also don't realise how big India really is... For example, Around 33 South Korea's can fit inside India... South Korea is about 33 times smaller than India. Infact a state in India called Karnataka is 1.5-1.9 times bigger than Korea.. Hence India is so diverse and magical xD
P.S. Also South Korea and India has sooooo many Similarities and people don't realise that... From the culture to the food there are soooo many similarities..

Just a little something: a dialect is a form of language that is unique to a certain region but Armaan sings in different “languages” not just dialects. The title is a bit misleading in that sense
