NS - ICM depart Hilversum using the Timer (2024-06-08)

The NS ICM-3 train is seen departing Hilversum destined for Amsterdam Centraal at 07:40 on 8 June from platform 5 with a timer on the platform counting down.
Initially installed in 2015 at Hilversum station these timers, or "afteller" in Dutch, countdown starting at 15 seconds when the level crossings just past the station begin to close. This allows the head conductor to begin the departure procedure, and ideally by the time the procedure is complete the crossings should be closed and a green light for the train driver will be visible. The idea is that this reduces the time the barrier remains down, resulting in an earlier departure of up to 17 seconds.
