    Your web blog on this topic is spot on. I work as a tech coordinator for a public library system, and we have many people who come in and use our public computers and also checkout chrome books. The ability to access your LR account from a public computer or a chromebook is very helpful to many people. I have been at my church and needed to quickly change an image in my LR account and I would much rather do that from a web browser than my cell phone. Give credit to Adobe for putting the resources into allowing online editing to happen.

      I really appreciate the comment, Randy. I can pass along your comment to some folks on the LR Web team, as I’m sure they’d be thrilled to see it.

    Very cool, with a question. While I can access my files from the web, it seems that I am unable to do any editing. I am seeing a very similar page as you, with one exception, no editing tools. Now I should note that I am attempting this from an iPad Pro. Is this not available for mobile devices and strictly for Desktop users?

      Hmmmm. On the iPad, try selecting the “Request Desktop Version” or whatever the wording of that command is. I believe that should load the version with the editor, but I haven’t confirmed it on my own yet.

      Thanks found it 👍 But, wow…talk about slow, almost to the point of being useless…I’d be curious if you are experiencing similar issues. Works fine on my Macs, but on my 2 iPad Pros (2022 models), after 25 minutes, just the rotating circle, ditto for my iPhone 14 Pro.

    Brian, Can I ask you a question. Would I be right in thinking Lightroom Desktop is less computer resource hungry than Lightroom Classic? I have an Apple M2 and even that at time gets very hot running using Lightroom Classic. I am thinking Lightroom desktop would be better to use on base MacBook Air on the move? This web browser version would be no good, as where I am going has unreliable internet access.

    You did it again! You helped me tremendously. Thank you. I spend months away from home. I only have an iMac so I travel with my iPad. I miss many features in the mobile version. This changes the game again.

    This is absolutely amazing. Knowing that you could pull up Lightroom and your photo library from virtually any computer-and not require any app - is mind-blowing. Thanks for continuing to make this content!

    What version of Lightroom Classic are you using? I am running the latest version 13.2 and the CONNECT YOUR DEVICES options under the Cloud icon are not present.

      I am not a Lightroom Classic user. I use Lightroom Desktop (v7.2), Lightroom Mobile, and Lightroom Web.

    Too bad adobe is prventing Lightroom web edition to run on my iPad. I would really love to use it there in the browser. But probably is a political decision. Because the browser on the iPad is not worth than one on any weak Computer.

      I was able to run it on my 2018 iPad Pro. All you have to do is request desktop website and it works. This could be useful as it has a few features that even my Lightroom for iPad doesn’t currently have like the AI people masks, Point Color and more options on the Background Blur tool that they kinda dumbed down for the mobile apps. I’m liking it as it complements Lightroom for iPad so I don’t have to power up my MacBook to get some of those desktop only features. Being a web app, it is kinda laggy and maybe because of the smaller screen of my 11” iPad, scrolling through adjustments tab, it often will move the sliders so I’m having to use my Apple Pencil to scroll up and down the adjustments tab. It’s definitely more useful than the previous version of Lightroom for Web. After they added Generative Expand and Fill for Photoshop for iPad, there’s less and less reason to fire up the MacBook. Hope that helps.

      I am seeing my images on my iPad Pro, but no editing tools, just the photo, and the share sheet, information, and tag icons, that's it. I am not certain what you mean by ‘requesting the Desktop website’’, I have tried that, and still nothing.

    In April 2021 Brian you published on RUclips a video titled I'm going BACK to Adobe Lightroom CLASSIC (from Lightroom). In my view, you made a strong and persuasive case for doing so. Now you are fully back in Lightroom and its Web version, no longer a Lightroom Classic user. What caused this significant change of mind?

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  7 месяцев назад

      The main reason why I thought about returning to Classic back then was because it was cumbersome to manage both versions. Let me explain. I had been using Lightroom pretty much since it was released in 2017 for my personal work, but whenever I'd create content for RUclips or for one of my courses, I'd have to switch back to LR Classic. That back-and-forth got annoying after a while. Also, I missed some features that Classic had (like Smart Collections and the Maps module). So, I gave it a shot and returned to Classic for a few weeks. That's about as long as I could stand it because I had gotten used to Lightroom despite missing some key features. Still, whenever I'd produce a RUclips video or a course, I'd use Classic... until last year.
      That's when I decided that I was done with switching around and let my entire audience know that, going forward, I would only share Lightroom Desktop/Mobile/Web content. It has nothing to do with one platform being better than the other. I just felt more authentic by creating content using the apps that I actually use on a daily basis.
      So, to say, "Now you are fully back in Lightroom and its Web version, no longer a Lightroom Classic user," is not exactly fair or accurate. With the exception of a few weeks almost three years ago when I switched back to Classic, I've been a Lightroom guy through and through.

      @@brianmatiash Thank you very much for your response Brian. Although I find Lightroom's and Lightroom Web's features impressive, their absence of Color Labels, Targeted Collection and Smart Collections are show-stoppers for me; they are crucial features I need. Hopefully they will be incorporated in Lightroom and its Web version in the future; only at that point do I expect to regularly use them and possibly abandon Lightroom Classic.
