Have you gotten the hotspot to work with any other radios, or is the only radio you have tried with? I wouldbe happy to assist you. Feel free to email me at cq2meters@yahoo.com and I can send you my phone or Facebook contact.
I recently got a D74 and openspot3, and your videos have helped immensely. I would have paid $50 for this instruction that you give us for free. Thanks so much.
Thank you for your fine comment! I hope you dig into my crossmoding video with the D74. The OpenSpot3 does a fine job of crossmoding to DMR, YSF, and NXDN networks!
Just got a very gently used D74 and coming from the ICOM world, this has helped me transition to the Kenwood very easily. Thanks very much! Now on to your crossmoding video.
@@k9wlwradio309 The Brandmeister linking works just fine. The OpenSpot switches over and I can see the modem transmitting but no audio at the radio though it is receiving. I assume this is a color code issue. Did you have to jump that hurdle?
@@N8XS I am not entirely sure about if it is a color code issue. That would depend on the type of radio you are using in this application. What radio are you trying to use in this application?
@@N8XS then color code is not the problem. Are you in the USA? If so, can you call me at 210-687-2591? I am confident I can get to the bottom of the problem.
Thanks for this, works nicely. One thing that confuses me is that when a call is incoming, the D74 shows “REF030 D” at the top of the info popup when the OS3 is linked to REF030C. If I listen on my IC-R30, its rx history shows “REF030 D” in the RPT” field for all received traffic. Any idea why?
I have noticed that too. I am not sure why the Openspot does that. The screen is a little different when you use a pi-star hotspot. It always shows a D regardless of which reflector module you are using. If you link your Openspot to a DStar repeater, it does the same thing, only it shows the repeater callsign before the D. It only does it on the Kenwood and Openspot. It does not do it with Openspot and Icom radios. I lime how it shows reflector Number at least or repeater callsign. I have no idea why the D shows no matter what. It is not a problem however, just a quirk.
@@k9wlwradio309 I am new to the radio and cannot find these things you mentioned. I run the Mac software and it is different than the software you use. Can you direct me to where I can find answers to these questions? Thanks.
@@billnorman2484 it is not in the software. I have to go grocery shopping now, if you like, send me an email at cq2meters@yahoo.com and I will send you my phone number so we can check your radio out over the phone. I am in Eastern USA time zone and should be free to help by 2PM today.
One last thing from last question sir if I may?, my screen isn’t showing the GPS info on the bottom like yours, on mine it shows a frequency I programmed not affiliated with DStar operation, I would like the GPS showing.
Your tutorials have been a Godsend! I find myself going back to them again and again. Thank you! KB1OHB
Thank you! I wish you well with your on air endeavors!
i have watched this over and over and i can't get this darn radio to work with my openspot 3. Thanks for trying LOL

Yes, please show us what we can do using the DTMF keypad on the D 74. Thanks!

Followed your directions and when I PTT I get a ERROR my callsign is not registered. My callsign is registered. Where should it go in your example?
Do you know how to check the Mycall, R1, R2, and URCALL settings on the radio?

Do i have to unlink reflector b4 i change to another reflector?
On some repeaters you do. But hotspots let you jump straight from one reflector to another. I am assuming you are using an Openspot.

You are in dual band display. Tap Function button first and then tap dual A/B button for starters. Does it show now? If not there is one more step.

Where can I order openspot 3?
The ONLY place to order one is at this site. www.sharkrf.com/
Ugghhh. It is so difficult to stay awake when you drone on and on with the NPR voice.
Ouch!
