I think we were speaking for people that wouldn't understand from a racial point of view. Because you know, certain people will truly discard the issue if it is just black. So I think Loni was trying to make the issue more relatable for the ignorants.

It happens to white people too. Maybe it happens more often to black people, but you can't say it will never happen to white people. I've seen it with my own eyes to my friend who is white. While he survived, it doesn't remove the fact that he was innocent and still shot. And mind you, I'm Asian so don't come at me with the "you're white so you can't have an opinion" type of bullshit.

I believe it's because she wasn't raised in a black community, therefore she can't speak for them. Of course she's biracial we all know that, but really that usually just means you don't feel like you fit in with the black folk or the white folk, i'm speaking from experience

Jeannie is 100% right with this one. If you need to “appeal” to white people that says more about you Loni than anything else. This is a RACE issue and if your audience cannot show empathy then you should think about what kind of audience you want to appeal to.
not really, we need people to care, not just black people. because its going to take more than black people to fix this problem. and like it or not many do switch off as they see it as a 'black issue'. by your logic, we would just be talking to those who already empathise with race, we need to reach the ones who currently don't.

its strange to see how public opinion has changed in 9 months. the real covered this topic and the hosts didnt want to acknowledge it as racism. whereas today they didnt mention george floyd (yeah ik theyre off season) and now things like these are clearly seen as racist acts.
I do think they acknowledge the race factor but Loni's point was take the color factor away ... you could have been orange, red, green, whatever .. but that officer shot someone who was sitting peacefully in their own living room AND America should be worried that those are the type of people "protecting" us

I feel like Loni made a good point on we should be scared that the police officer did not handle the situation right. I felt like she probably made it more relatable for non-black people. However, this situation is about race and I don’t think it’s something to take focus off of.

Helen Miren has been in the business long enough that she knew that would have been a follow up question.
I find that with most topics, even if the side that most of the ladies are on makes sense, it is as if Loni had a meeting with the producers and decided to almost always be the devil's advocate or to have an opposing view. I can quite often bet on it.

She’s just trying to put it in perspective that this could happen to any person of color, but of course specially black people because the racism against them is tremendous. She’s reaching for empathy and have people put themselves in their shoes. And in addition call out how ridiculously unprofessional the officer was handling the situation.
