My understanding with these is that the feed line is shielded, so shouldn't affect it the ground of the active part? I could be wrong though, as you say antennas are black magic. I use the same setup on my ZOHD Drift & haven't had any obvious issues yet, but then I've not flown that far.

I'm interested in how the dipole behaves with the ground side parallel with the feed line inside the tube. Antennas are pure voodoo.
