My dad USMC flew a TBM in WW2 off the USS Block Island CVE 106, after that the Wildcat and then the Corsair in Korean War. He said that when he was in a dive firing the guns the plane would actually slow down. After the Korean War he went on to fly the Panther, then the Sabre Jet and his last plane he flew was the A4 Skyhawk during the Vietnam period, he stayed stateside and taught aerial combat at China Lake. He was a member of the Flying Peons, president of the group at one time. The Flying Peons originated before the Korean War when pilots that were 2nd LTs. took a reduction in rank to Master Sergeant in order to stay in the Corps. I believe that actually hurt his promotional status and when he retired at Major, he most likely should have been a Colonel. He was 98 when he passed away 2 yrs. ago. The thing about the Flying Peons were they were leading the combat flights as Sergeants with the 2nd. LTs out of the academy. They had the experience in dropping bombs, strafing and laying napalm. Same thing occurred again in early Vietnam where he was stateside teaching those same skills with the occasional Atom bomb drop exercises.😊
Ah yes,the P-47, the natural preditor, along with the F6F (what it was built for) F4U Corsair, and not forgetting my fave, the P-51D Mustang. It helped that my parents worked for North American Aircraft during the wat. Thayt' where they met. And they also made the B-25. The B-25's made the best straffer of the pre war, Up to carrying 12 or l5 ft.off the gound and in the nose and ovfterin
It must have been terrifying to be on one of those ships being strafed by 50-cal. machineguns from US fighter panes. Like sitting ducks. Can't run; nowhere to hide. Just hunker down and hope for the best.
Straight off, the sound of V-12, in-line engines substituting for the sound of radials. I can see where this is going. Disjointed, unrelated clips with faked sound. Ninety seconds is all you got from me.
The P-47 Thunderbolt! My favorite proped fighter plane, EVER!
The 13’ foot prop was the best F4U. My dream was to fly one. Ww2 the Greatest Generation I miss you all. NEVER FORGET.
Greatest generation that gave us two world wars, are you for real you sad person?

But the sound is recorded just not from a fighter!

Pure post-production sound.

Great clips - thanks!
je viens de m'abonner, superbe vos vidéos merci.
If you turn the sound way down to nearly zero, it almost sounds realistic
My dad was e Navy pilot he flew off of the USS Randolph in a Grumman Hellcat, it's cool to see that footage 👍
Some of those guys give a new term to "Wing man"

Was the sound dubbed in for some of the aircraft footage. Sound equipment was heavy and needed high voltage back then.
Added sound
Don't know, but it matches very well though.

They had no sound recording on these films...
Thunderbolt sounds like a Spifire...
Eight 50 cals. Devastating.
Just so you know, a Wright R-2800 Does NOT sound like a V-12 Merlin!
They strafing fishing boats
Surprised that the gun cameras had sound. 🤪
OHH, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE DAMN DUBBING !!!!!!! FOR PETE'S SAKE....GROW A BRAIN !!
THE TARGETS ARE ALL JAPAN ( ノД`)
😊😊😊😊
What's with all the fake sound?
Same old clips
Much repeated footage as seen on many other sites.
Are you Mad?

That is the sound of radials! So different to V-12 the hum of a radial is very distinctive its like soul music 😂
@@ivankurtz1909 You need to get out to more air shows. I know the difference in sound between v12s and radials.
Thank God for the mute button....
Can you say moron 😂
Same old clips from eyars ago. I have seen the same clips on a half dozen other sites.
Well, it's not like WW2 is still being fought and new footage is being released.
